I have not seen his offspring in person, however, I know that the BWP judges were crazy about his babies. I know him pretty well...he is a LOVELY LOVELY horse!!! He has a temperament to die for...he is soooo quiet, and with several other stallions in the barn during feeding time, that says something. He has a captivating presence about him...and when you see him gallop at liberty you would think the paddocks are smaller than they are...his stride eats the ground. He is very elastic in his movement. His jump...his HIND end over the jump is amazing...of course, I may be a little more concerned about that because I am breeding for a jumper, but wow! He is really a nice stallion and worth consideration. Also, something to keep in mind, he has the famed Capitol/Caletto nick one generation removed...ie: think, Indoctro, Cassini, Carthago...need I say more. I'm in Wellington, and will see if I can stop by to take a few photos. Check out his website. www.jumpstartfarm.com They have some very nice stallions...I am biased toward Balta'Czar as I have a gorgeous derby horse in the makes at the moment by him.

The "famed nick" is with Capitol / Caletto II (TWO) as in Cassini I & II , Cento , Indoctro , Berlin, Cumano etc.
Cobra One's grandsire is Caletto I and his mother is a Capitol grandaughter. This is not how the "famous nick" works. Jumpstart Farm also lists Calato and Carthago as also being from this nick. This is incorrect as neither stallion has either Caletto brother in the pedigree.

I stand corrected...
Enlighten me further then, since we're talking details here, you have piqued my interest. Can you really include Cumano and Berlin? since they are both by Cassini with Caletto II repeated on the dam side...this particular nick being contained to the paternal side of the pedigree only...rather than the combination of both paternal and maternal blood. Or is the 3x3 Caletto II part of what is considered a continuation of this 'famed nick'?

It is a continuation of the famed nick and double Caletto II is even better and the "continuation" is really good when Cassini and Caretino are matched. Reason being : Perfect sex balanced line breeding with Caletto II as Cassini is from a Caletto II mother and Caretino is a Caletto II son.
Berlin is Cassini / Caretino. This is a continuation of the Capitol / Caletto II cross as well as being double Caletto II. Cumano is Cassini I / Landgraf I / Caletto II........another continuation that also offers double Caletto II .
Clarimo is another continuation. He is by Clearway / Caletto II. His mother is the same as Cassini and Capitol is his grandfather.
F4leggin's horse that just finished 4th at Denver and then won a couple days ago at Thermal is double Capitol and double Caletto II. His pedigree is Cassini I / Corofino I / Caletto II !
Sorry to be anal in my first post but as you can now see , the claim on the website that Cobra One has this famed nick is just ridiculous. It's not even close nor are two of the Capitol sons they have listed as examples.

He has a lovely chestnut hunter yearling you can see at www.hilcatfarm.com. He will be showing on the line. He is extremely well bred. Jumping video on www.jumpstartfarm.com. Does it really matter who his ancestors are if his sire and dam are top producers and extremely well bred. He scored a 54 at his BWP stallion approval.

hey wendy,
i'm surprised you'd ask that. does it matter? of course it does. not only can and do historic blood combinations be found to be relevant in closer parentage, but this issue also stepped over into the issue of marketing and around claims made about a particular horse.
if a good horse is good, then let it be so and let the description be educated, accurate and uninflated.

Hey...breeding is in the details...right? That is why I am here discussing things. There are things I do not know and when they are brought to my attention, I'd like the opportunity to further my education!
I'd like to discuss this further, but I do not want to hi-jack this thread!!! Bart, I'm PM'ing you!
And regardless of him being from the 'famed nick' or not, he is an absolutely lovely horse who I am sure will be producing some very nice horses in the near future...watch out!

Wendy , this is not , nor ever has been about the quality of the stallion nor the quality in his production. This is about mis-representation , unintentional or otherwise.
The claims on the website are wrong and should be corrected.
Folks will never be able to learn when they are being fed erroneous information.

I have two Cobra One offspring.... two 2009 colts, soon to be gelded. Jazzman tied in the 2009 BWP inspection tour for second place nationally in the colt/gelding section. He has lots of chrome.... chestnut, white star and two white stockings. I have just made a new video of him for a sales request.
The other gelding is Jacarda. Not as fancy but will be a good one as all his mothers foals have come on slowly but have gone to the show ring and done well.
For videos, go to You Tube and look for videos of Hil Cat Farm. :)

If I want to increase my chances of producing a top quality hunter I will breed to a stallion who consistantly throws that type. It is a different decision than choosing a stallion who has the highest probability of producing for performance which can be across disciplines. A mare who consistantly throws gorgeous foals who move like daisy cutters and are built with a lower center of gravity, I would not use to breed my next jumper prospect.
If a stallion consistantly produces offspring with movie star looks and who move and jump correctly for the hunter showring I don't care about the bloodlines. I want a horse that will hopefully go to the ring and win.
For a jumper prospect, I cannot tell if a foal will make the grade so I am going to choose a stallion and mare based on bloodlines-success of the family, etc, therefore increasing the probability of producing a performance horse and also choose the best nick for a stallion/stallion line and mare/mareline based on historical data.
There are always exceptions who go the other way but that is flipping a coin. I don't flip a coin in my breeding decisions. Too expensive.
