ok will try to make this short!
friesian mare now 9
when she was 7 1/2 she feel on road
was checked over by vet was fine but had chiro work as was muscle sore!
when i got back to riding she gradually got a little lame on right hind so vet was out.
she had bone scan from behind withers all of back legs and back. she had nerve blocks and xrays of hock and ultrasound of lowere leg and stifles!
year later was finally diagnosed with psd of hind ligaments both right being worse!
she had the op fasciotomy and nerectomy.
year later was sound but also had hocks injected as she had a slight boney spur on left hock and slight changes on right hock she also has Cartropthen monthly (bit like adequan) since all of this she has been super been seeing bowen women reg and has been doing well canter has always been difficult for her but in the last 3 months from lots of hacking in canter and long reining and double lunging she has really started to progress and is finally doing a nice three beat canter around the arena and circless so have been very pleased.
BUT
as of last wednesday i had a lesson and she started to do a little buck hoppy thing in canter only on the left rein she then sorted herself out as that was the first canter and after that was fine and did some nice canter work so didnt think anything of it!
then hacked lunged day off then rode again in school and started to do canter work and she procedded to do the bucky hoppy thing i couldnt get one stride without it on the left rein and she did it once or twice on the right aswel. what could this be?
have since lunged her to see what she looks like and she dont do the bucky hoppy thing but on left rein keeps both hinds almost going and the same time and closer! right rein was fine!
hacked her yesturday canter both reins fine!
have got saddle man thursday for normal check up!
and have booked her back in for saturday!
if norhing found and she still does it in school next time i ride then will get the vet.
i almost dont think it could be her back legs playing up as normally when she need injestions she dont want to go forward drags toes and dont really want me to pick feet out back feet and she isnt doing any of this. Trot work is great better to the right weaker on the left but good and she is very forward and WANTS to go into canter.
she has alos got very snacthy with the reins in walk which she hadnt been doing i changed denstist about a month ago and she had a lot of work to be done and aftre he done her she was going fantatsic so i no its not her teeth as they have just been done and she was going really nicely until know!
i do no that last thursday a girl said to be she see her having a good old looney in the field maybe she has done something then?
i have massaged her all over and have found one spot (right side lumbar) were it seems a little bit harder but only slightly and she only reacts a little bit to it as in pushing into pressure a bit harder not aggresive.
just wanted to hear what anyone else thought about it!
thanks
