Has anyone had any experience in sending boots back for adjustment? How was this managed and were you satisfied with the exchange and the work done? My just arrived boots are deliously beautiful but too big ;-( I have emaled the company...did this on Friday am and have not heard back yet about sending them back. Did they reimburse the costs to ship back?

Don't do it. When I finally received mine a few months late the zipper busted out the first week. I sent them back for repairs. 2 months later I didn't have them back and harassed the La Mundial Rep out in California until he remeasured me and promised to get them fixed. I got them back 2 months later and they still didn't fit. At that point I gave up and now they're sitting in the back of my closet .

I purchased a pair of the custom lace-up paddock boots, and have a mixed review to give. The bad: the fit is not fantastic (just overall too big, which luckily I was basically able to fix by adding a foam-type insert), and the workmanship was so-so (boots came with one of the hook-eyes at the top not securely fastened, so it fell off the first time I went lace them up -- again an easy fix, but not the kind of workmanship you would expect for custom). They were also kind of slow to deliver them (about a month later than originally estimated). The good: The leather is quite nice, and they broke in almost immediately. I wear them almost every day and so far they have been standing up nicely. And the price was not outrageous. So overall, I would probably get these paddock boots again, but I think I would hesitate to order tall boots where the fit issue would likely be a bigger deal.

I would spend the extra money and get full customs elsewhere... although they are inexpensive, it's definitely not worth it. I was measured last year at Vermont in July and was told I would receive them in September. They didn't end up coming until November, and they were the wrong boots!!! They were about three inches too short, the calf and foot size were huge. I went to the Equine Affaire where I was re-measured by someone different and they FINALLY came in sometime during February and they do fit perfectly. After the first measurement when I emailed the company to see where my boots were, all I got were responses in broken English filled with excuses about why my boots were not ready, etc etc. My boots do fit really well now, but I won't be purchasing another pair simply because of the customer service issues. Two other people at my barn had the same exact issue I did. But if you don't mind dealing with those issues and (eventually) want a nice pair of boots for an inexpensive price, then I would recommend them.

Mine didn't fit at first-the zippers wouldn't zip to the top or stay zipped. They took them back and supposedly stretched them. That lasted all of one ride. I had gussets put in so the zippers would fit and I also customized the snap at the top with velcro. The zippers then gave out so I had them replaced. I recently had the sole and heel replaced and oh yes I put inserts in because they were uncomfortable (fit but were just uncomfortable). So yes after adding gussets, new zippers, new heels, new soles and new inserts they are great boots. That being said the leather is very nice-it is not the leather that I ordered, but it is nice. My favorite part was when they took the boots back to stretch, they took out my inserts and threw them away so I had to go buy another set.

I had this problem. I ordered a pair that arrived in 4 months - too big in the calf and foot. I paid out of pocket to have the calf fixed at a custom shoemaker in NYC so I wouldn't have to wait months to get them back if I sent them to LaMundial directly. I figured i'd just wear thicker socks and grin and bare the foot being too big. But when I put them on again after the calf was fixed, they were too short. Didnt notice until I sat on my horse with them on. If I had known they were going to be that short, I never would have spent the money to have the calf tightened.

LaMundial had a booth set up in Vermont this past summer so I brought them to the booth to see if LaMundial would make good on the too short boots by just simply adding a piece of alligator to the top (kind of like how der dau does it). I figured that was a much cheaper option for them than remaking the entire boot. At first the rep told me I would have to pay for the alligator, to which I replied that I'd rather have a new pair of boots then. They needed to make good on the boots not being right. He then had me try them on. He too thought the foot was way too big and suggested I just go ahead and get remeasured for a new pair. These were all wrong. He asked where/when I got measured originally and told me the girl who measured me then had been let go b/c she had gotten so many measurements wrong on orders.

I gave him the boots and left. I followed up my measurement session with an email directly to the company reiterating what he and I had discussed: The original pair of boots was wrong and that I would be getting a new pair to replace them with my correct measurements, as taken in Vermont. LaMundial confirmed this.

What I got in 3 1/2 more months was my old boots with a new leather piece (not alligator) added to the top. Think the black field boots with the brown tops, only the top is black leather. So, there is a very visible seam. No changes made to the foot size. The options were, alligator on the top (they declined and said I needed new boots because the foot was wrong) or new boots (an option THEY picked). They never discussed with me nor would I have accepted the regular leather piece being added to increase the height of the boots.

I do not recommend dealing with them at all.

I bought a pair of paddocks from them at VT the summer before last after hearing a friend rave about how great they were. Like many others, mine arrived a bit big - certainly not the custom fit that I expected - and they were delivered about 6 weeks past the promised date.

I had back zips put in my lace up boots because I like the traditional look and wanted the convenience of zippers. I wish I hadn't since the zippers don't stay up for more than 5 minutes at a time, so they always feel like they are going to fall off. :(

I guess I could take them to a cobbler to replace the zippers but I don't love them so I haven't bothered. The leather is nice enough but they are not particularly comfortable to wear - very thin soled. I did put a pair of gel inserts in them (regular Dr. Scholls from the drugstore) which helped a bit, but for the most part they were a disappointment and sit in the back of my closet.

I wouldn't purchase from them again despite the low price.

Mine (paddock boots with laces and zip) fit fine, at least when I first got them.

I had the same problem with the back zippers falling down, which I fixed by installing a strip of Velcro. I also had them resoled with a thicker sole.

But finally, after about 5 years of abuse, and not conditioning them enough, the leather got stiff, and split by the balls of my feet.

I had multiple problems with boots not fitting (too small to zip up). AFter several tries I have given up. total time involved - almost 1 year. Phone calls and emails to La Mundial - about 30. Pairs of boots received: 3. Pairs sent back: 2. I would not recommend them, even though I know plenty of people who are very happy with their purchase. It is a gamble of whether you "win" or not. I'd use the money and put it towards boots from a more reputable company. they will NOT refund your money, they will simply keep trying to remake boots until you give up and go away.

Don't do it. I was custom fitted at the Robert Murphy Show over the 4th of July weekend. They charged my MC September 9 of 2009. I started calling them in November about where they were and got no satisfaction. I called
so much they finally shipped in a couple weeks toward the end of Nov. Arrived a size too small w/o the square toes I ordered. I spoke with Customer Service (In Ecuador BTW) with a very unhelpful and mean lady, who said I could send them back and they would fix them. I don't understand how you can "fix" custom boots that are a size too small. After many phone calls, letters and much time spent I finally sent them back in December. Haven't heard a word since. And they still have my $$ and my shipping back $$, too. I finally sent all the paperwork to my MC in an attempt to get the charge on my MC voided just this month as I haven't heard back from them and am so over the whole thing.

Spend the money and order your boots from a reputable customer-oriented company like Dehner or Vogel. Not somebody in Ecuador.

My advice -- stay away!!!

I ordered a pair at Harrisburg a couple years ago when they were $420 and were supposed to ship in 4 weeks. They guy gave me the whole story about how the people making the boots have learned from the same people that make Parlantis (which is what I wanted). I figured, how can I go wrong at $900 less than the comparable Italian boot?

My boots came 4 months and countless angry phone calls later. They fit like I was a 4'11" Santa Claus, mind you I'm 5'10" and very normally sized. But even worse, one of the boots had lovely smooth leather, the other was so horribly rippled and creased (because of a terrible job gluing together the lining and exterior leather) that it looked like snakeskin. I called up and gave them hell, and it took them a week to figure out exactly how I should go about returning the boots to them so they could make me a new pair. I ended up remeasuring myself, embellishing my measurements to be about 3/4 of an inch narrower from side to side and 2 inches taller than I actually was. This resulted in a new pair of boots coming, 8 weeks later, that were still 3/4 of an inch too short, and still with too much room in the ankle and mid-leg. But worst of all, I still had the same problem with the two different leather textures as last time. I'd call the whole situation a catastrophe. Fortunately, I ordered my Parlantis before even getting my replacement LM boots, so that when my Parlantis came ages later (which shouldn't be a problem anymore with Parlanti actually having their own offices in America now) my LM boots were already on death's door with cracked leather all up the back coming undone in the zipper seams.

So I'd say stay away from La Mundial. It's a giant waste of money in my opinion.

I ordered a pair last year and they fit fantastic! I ordered in mid April and they came in Mid June, and the customer service rep always got back to me. I had some guy from Florida come and measure me in CA.

To be honest for 550 they are great-you can't get a pair of ariats off the rack for that price!

Plus I ordered a pair of Ayora's a year before this and it took basically a year to get them and the guy is super shady and I believe went bankrupt and out of business (A Friend of mine still to this day has never received her boots).

I really like La Mundial but to be honest I think each boot company will have their problems just don't EVER purchase anything from Ayora!

I bought boots from this company in May 2009. There was no rep in CA at the time so they advised me to measure myself with their online guidelines. The boots arrived in early August which was only a few weeks after they had predicted. The boots were exactly what I had ordered and fit like a glove. However, they were too short as the measuring guide online did not mention to add 4 inches for break down- I assumed they would do that at the factory.
Anyway, I met with the new rep in November and she re-measured and has told me to send them back to Florida and they will either fix them or make a whole new pair. She emphasized that the owner is very concerned about customer service. Also she did say that none of the cobblers or owners speak very good English so it is best to correspond at elementary level.
My husband ordered some in 2008 and he loves them. After a few rides, he noticed the calf area coming apart, so he contacted the rep, who reinforced them and repaired them at no charge.
They are really great boots for the money, but it just requires patience when dealing with their workers. (However, I feel like this is the case with any custom product that is any good)
And yes, Ayora is no more and many people are bootless and none the richer. Mr. Ayora is now pursuing a photography career. No words....

Hi Everyone, My boots came yesterday and I am happy to report they fit like they were made for me :). The leather is lovely, and the foot is very comfortable and supportive, and the workmanship is very nice. I am really pleased. The company called to tell me when the boots were going to be shipped so I could track them. I called this morning to thank them and let them know how pleased I am with the boots.

For the record, I purchased a pair of Vogels which were 3 x the price of these boots. I drove 150 miles each way to be measured by a reputable tack shop, where I will never, ever spend another penny. The boots arrived long after the date they were supposed to, were missing some options I had paid for (toe cap, for example) and did not fit properly. I called the tack shop and was told to bring them back so they could see them. I drove back (with an appointment) but the boot person (conveniently, for her) wasn't there. Someone else in the store looked at the boots, looked at the order, and said "wow - those don't even look like the right boots" and suggested I leave them. To make a long story short, neither Vogel (I did call Vogel - a very unpleasant man told me to take it up with the tack shop) nor the tack shop would accept responsibility for the boots. I fiddled around too long for my credit card company to help, so I sold them for 10% of the purchase price (not including my drive time or gas).

Never again will the tack shop or Vogel see a penny of my money. I prefer to do business with people who appreciate the patronage. fg

I LOVE mine. They are beautiful, fit perfectly, and cost me $550 delivered. They arrived almost exactly 3 months after I ordered them, as promised. I was apparently measured by the guy who would be making them, so maybe that is why I had such a good experience. I ordered them at Rolex a couple years ago. Couldn't be happier!!

Got mine today!! I had read all of the "not so nice" reviews on here AFTER I had ordered mine and have had nightmares almost every day since! However besides being about 3 weeks late (which they called to explain to me, and that was fine!) I LOVE THEM!!! They are perfect in every way and definitely worth the (relatively inexpensive) cost.

My friend was measured for a pair at the Royal in November '10 and the boots arrived yesterday. They are gorgeous. The quality, fit and "look" are nicer than my DerDaus. I kid you not!! Not to mention, they are 1/2 the price of the DerDaus. I will order a pair this November. :)

On this note, I understand that the guy doing the measuring at the Royal is "the" master fitter for the company. Theoretically, if he doesn't fit you right, nobody will.

I thought long and hard (very long and very hard, in fact) about ordering a pair at the Royal last year but demurred after reading too many horror stories. Am still toying with it though...

I ordered a pair for my daughter a couple years ago at Rolex, they came in about 3 months and fit her well, she has not had any trouble with them in 2 years but isn't exactly tough on them.

However I have seen event1's saga first hand and fear for the hide and wellbeing of the LaMundial rep at Rolex this year :lol::lol:

She has been through absolute HELL with service, fitting, getting hold of someone that I don't think I would order from them again.

I learned from my experience with DerDau to "stay the course." Was measured in November of 2007 and FINALLY had satisfaction in May of 2010. I kept sending them back and calling and even sent my "perfect" show boots to them to copy. Was "remeasured" at the Royal in November of 2008 and again in November 2009. For the record, my boot size is an "off the rack" size 6, regular calf, tall. No special measurements required. I guess every boot has a horror story somewhere.

Event1, I really hope you get yours sorted. I know how horribly frustrating it can be. :(

A good friend ordered a pair while at the WEG in September. She said the rep took a ton of time to measure and remeasure her (like 45 min-1 hour). Her boots came a couple weeks late, but she did receive notice from LM that they would be late. It was winter and she was in no hurry so no big deal. They came mid-January and are drop dead gorgeous, fit like a glove. Absolutely no break in time. I really really want a pair so I contacted the same rep. They have no fitter in my area so they recommended I do the measuring myself. I am hesitant to do that and am going to wait until I can get to a big show with a rep to measure for me. I think good measuring makes all the difference!

I've had mine for 4 years now and love them. They were measured in Oct at Capital Challenge and arrived in January. Beautiful fit, buttery soft leather, and super comfortable.

I really do think a lot depends on who does the measuring. I've had friends who had nightmares with both Vogel and DerDau, and others who have had great experiences.

IMHO, custom is always a crapshoot as far as fit goes, so the most important part is the customer service. Luckily, mine fit beautifully, so I never had to experience LaMundial's customer service.

I ordered custom boots from La Mundial at the World Equestrian Games on Oct. 3, 2010. I did not receive them until the last day of January 2011. They were made incorrectly and the calves were way too small. The zippers would only go up 3/4 of the way. It took 3-4 weeks of emailing the company before they finally replied and sent me a return label. I sent them back March 3, 2011. It is now May 19th; still no boots and no one will reply to my constant email. They actually had a booth at Rolex April 28-31, so I spoke to a rep there and explained my problem. He seemed rather chagrined and not surprised by my complaints. He took my info and promised someone would be in contact with me that Monday. It has been three weeks since then and I am still waiting for that call. I was so looking forward to having custom boots, but this is just not worth the trouble. My most recent email requested a refund and cancellation of my order, but of course, I have not received a response to that either. Judging by the other complaints I have read, I will have to contact my credit card company to reverse the charge since La Mundial is not in the habit of issuing refunds…

Mine were sent back twice...they said they would cover all the shipping costs...they didn't. Mine are currently too small and sitting in my closet waiting for some energy on my part to see if I can soak them in alcohol and get them on. My hope being they will stretch with the alcohol and being worn. They are beautiful but such a disappointment and simply a tease at this point since I can only look and not wear. I realize any boot company can have a problem getting customs to fit like a custom but dealing with the shipping and the language barrier has compounded the experience into something I no longer want to deal with. So the pretty boots are closet decoration.

Ordered a pair for cubbing at Upperville horse show this year.
They came 4 months later after repeated phone calls to Ecuador the wrong leather, the wrong color, the wrong size. I sent them back and the company refuses to refund my money. The owner, Roberto said he would make 2 pairs for me instead - asked him to put it in writing in an email - nothing - said he would call me right back - nothing. I would absolutely not ever do business with this company again. Probably the worst company I have ever dealt with. Avoid like the plague.

I have LaMundial dressage boots. They took 7 months to receive - but after waiting a lifetime for tall boots that actually fit and I didn't have to pay a mint for...I have to say I LOVE them. I got the thick black leather with reinforced inner calf. They took a good 20 rides to start really breaking in and now they are almost perfect. They are easy to clean...use Lexol wipes for the every day cleaning and Effax LeatherCombi for deep cleaning. Have to say - they are great. Customer service is extremely lacking, however, now that I have a pair - I'm very happy. I was fitted by a mobile tack shop...and the fitter did a LOT of the communicating with LaMundial for me...so I didn't have to deal too much with the lack...however, the time it took - that was unacceptable.

I realize this is kind of an old thread, but I got a pair of these about a year ago. Several of us at my barn were ordering, so a fitter came out one afternoon to measure everyone at the same time. He took 45-60 minutes to measure me, and remeasure, because my left ankle is a lot bigger than my right due to some old injuries. They came about a week late, but fit perfect and are around a year and a half old and still look great!

I do have an issue with the zippers, which zip from top to bottom, not staying up. I used to have that problem with half chaps, so I think it is something I do with my leg.

A few months ago one of the spur rests came off, and I just took them to a local shoe repair who fixed it for $20. I didn't feel like that was that big of a deal.

My trainer has at least 2 pairs of these, as do several other riders, so our experience may have something to do with the volume they see through my trainer.

One of the other adults I ride with has the Parlantis - and they are gorgeous as well!

I just got a new pair shipped to me a few weeks ago and they actually fit this time around. I am worried they will stretch out a little too much but time will tell. At this time they go on and fit well. The sole looks a little slippery so I plan to take them to th elocal cobbler and have a grippy rubber half sole put on. Just relieved I have boots but sadly I bought some sergios because I had given up hope. With shipping and multipal customs they have cost me around 1000.00.

I wish I would have seen this before I got mine....

Long story short, I now have 2 pairs: one too short and the others too tall.

I wear the short ones around the barn at home, and so far I have had to get both zippers replaced (one zipper getting replaced currently, hah), the heel fell off one of them one day, the calves have started getting holes and the leather is cracking.... mind you, these are less than a year old. Frustrating!

RUN -DON'T WALK- AWAY FROM DOING BUSINESS WITH THIS COMPANY!!!!
They will take your money - not deliver until well past the 90 day window you have for contesting a charge on your credit card- and you stand a very good chance of never getting your boots. That's what happened to me - no boots - no refund - no way of getting anything back from this thoroughly disreputable company. They're based in South America, so good luck getting any resolution to your case.

Unfortunately I have to agree. I ordered boots from them. Boots arrived and were terrible quality leather and did not fit at all. I spoke to the rep and he was very nice about agreeing to take them back and exchange them. He remeasured me, and since the boots had been way too short last time, I stressed that I REALLY wanted the boots to be super tall with a Spanish top. I asked that they be taller than he thought they should be, because I like boots extra tall.
My second pair of boots arrive- and they are still WAY too short and have no Spanish top. They are too loose in the ankle but a little too tight in the calf. The leather is very poor quality compared to all my old tall boots (Ariats, Ariat Monacos, and Vogels). The zippers never stay up- they literally fall down every time I ride in the boots. The boots don't get very shiny because of the poor leather quality. I couldn't get in contact with the company to return them- no customer service.
There is $550 I will never get back.

They're very clever in that they wait until it is close to too late to dispute a charge to send you their shoddy product. Then when you dispute the charge they fight it and you will spend fruitless hours on the phone trying to get your money back. Meanwhile, I had to buy boots to make up for the ones I never received from them. Even after my disasterous experience, they promised to replace the boots that were wrong the first time - and this second pair was never delivered. They are a truly awful company and I think the shows that allow them to have a booth should be notified that buyers are being ripped off.

This is without a doubt the most frustrating and non-productive retail experience I have ever had. Horrendous. I am out $650 and have no boots.

Well, Same song different day. If you buy these use American Express so you can contest the charges. I did and was refunded. (Although La Mundial seems to be unaware of that.)
Mine showed up over a month after the promise date. After run around after run around I was told they were held up in customs and would show up soon.
They did...the foot is too small and they are too tall although they might break down okay. It took at least 10 phone calls to get through with someone as they constantly hung up on me.
:cry::(
What I have surmised is that they must have some Ecuadorean sweat shop kicking out these boots. Their website is now up, and they have a huge line of supposedly custom boots and apparently they are trying to rival Ariat and other custom boot makers. They now have representatives all over the country.
It is up for grabs whether you receive a decent quality boot without problems.

I will see to it that they don't get a booth at Spruce Meadows in the future with the problems that fill the 3 pages of this forum and probably many more unreported.

The only way to stop this kind of greasy operation is to keep them from being able to sell at North American venues. Hate to put all those Ecuadorians out of work, but this is nonsense.

They finally sent me a shipping label in png format that I had to convert to jpg to print, otherwise it didn't print correctly even with PDF, and promised to fix them but with a problem in the foot, they have to send them back to Ecuador.
I will send these back and tell them to keep them. It is too bad the leather is so soft and sweet, but I don't have time for this nonsense.
p.s. there is a hint when one boot bag comes with a handle and the other doesn't. The current website has misspelling up and down.

I ordered my pair at Spruce Meadows Masters in September and they arrived this morning. So yes, a little late, but they're GORGEOUS and fit like a glove. I'm currently wearing them around to break them in, but I honestly feel like I could ride in them tonight.

Lord Helpus, that website quirk happens to me on my laptop (PC) too, but on my husband's Mac it works without a problem.

Seriously, for the price, I'm extremely happy.

I love my boots too!

I got my boots RIGHT on time and they are GORGEOUS! They fit great, a little snug on top of my foot but has gotten better (ive only ridden in them 2 times)

My trainer has 2 pairs and absolutely loves them along with a few other people at our barn... all of which have nothing but great things to say about these boots!

I am so surprised at all the negative comments! Hopefully mine last! I had vogels before these and the zipper broke 3 times within the first two years of owning them... my boots didnt fit AT ALL when i first got them, and they ripped after 3 years

I have a pair of paddock boots. They are ok, needed to use a sneaker insert to make them comfy. The first zipper broke, it is up the back as I wanted lace up look, so I sent them back and they fixed them, it did take a long time.

They aren't that comfy though.

I have two pairs of Dehners, field with no zipper and zip up dress.

I will stick with Dehners, support craftsmen and women in the USA, and IMO if you can afford custom tall boots, you can probably save a little bit more and get American made...or if you are European, made in Europe.

My dress boots with a zipper were under $700! But would be $750 + $100 for the zippers now, and Dehners has a sale every year where you can get 150 off, so it would be $700. The field boots are calf so that leather starts at $945 but I ordered those with the sale, added gussets and those were 790 when I bought them, they would be 895 with that sale in today's prices.

I think I have had the dress boots for six years now and the field for four. The calf is extremely comfortable and shines up amazingly, but it it will not last as long as the Voyager leather, which also shines well.

All of mine are fully lined because I need them to last, they were big purchases that I saved up to buy.

A friend ordered a pair maybe three years ago at Equine Affaire. Finally got boots and they were not tall enough. To be fair, her legs are tall and skinny and maybe they thought the 4" or whatever had already been added? She tried to make them work but realized they weren't going to as they broke in. Contacted company and brought boots to Equine Affaire the next year. They offered to put tops on and took the boots. Not sure what the next sequence of events was but there were problems. Her husband is fluent in Spanish and very persistent. Somehow she ended up with the "fixed" pair and a new pair that she was happy with. Except I think there was a problem with a zipper that she got repaired stateside.

Based on their experience (I don't have a husband, let alone a persistent Spanish-speaking one) and reading what I've read here and hearing that the soles are kind of thin I personally would not order them.

YMMV.

Run away from La Mundial and Karol King, their California rep. When I ordered and they charged my Visa up front, I was assured I would have them in time for Thermal. Three months later, Thermal in full swing and no boots. Now Karol King has stopped answering my voice mails and it is, of course, past 90 days so I cannot get my VISA refunded.

GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR.

Now I'm of to starve myself to get back in to my beautiful Fabbri boots which arrived 4 weeks to the day from the day I ordered them and fit like a glove ... until I gained 25 pounds. GRRRRR
