How long have you been riding: 30 years, my father and grandfather are horse trainers, my mother shows amateur. I sta on my first pony the day I came home from the hospital (at Dad's insistance), started showing at age 3. Went to the Appaloosa Youth World on the WNY Youth team at age 5. Have competed actively since.

Most memorable horse/pony and why: So many horses - I honestly can say that having been the daughter of a trainer and now married to a trainer I have had a lot of horses. Usually about the time I get them right they get sold. Some of them I remember there barn name but could no longer tell you their registered name. One summer (I was maybe 13)I showed 12 diferent horses - because every horse i rode did well and was sold. http://chronicleforums.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_frown.gif Even anything though I have learned to ride about anything that I can put a saddle on.

Most memorable show: Showing at the Quarter Horse Congress - this is always my favorite show.

Goals: To conitinue to produce horses that are sound, safe and sane that can go onto be great!

Current trainer: Myself - with some help from AC Jones

Other Pets: Scotch (adopted generic dog), Jiggers (blue heeler), Cutter (Aussie), Rocky, China & Bushy (cats)

Throw your heart over - your horse will follow.

Apr. 30, 2003, 09:20 AM
Name: Ashley

Age: 20

Location: Ontario

Current Horse(s) Name: Czar & Dex

Show in: Czar and I will be doing the younger A/A's this year and Dex...well...Dex is a work-in-progress

Occupation: Animal Care Attendant and Aministrative Assistant with an animal pharmaceutical research company (sounds important huh?...don't be fooled http://chronicleforums.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif)

How long have you been riding: since I was 4

Most memorable horse/pony and why: My saved-from-the-auction pony...he was only 3 and had been out in a field. I broke him myself (I was quite young at the time) and he went on to cart me around all the little local shows - he was the greatest pony...and we only paid $200 for him

Most memorable show: Ottawa Classic...it was ridiculously hot and humid - one girl fainted off of her horse as she came out of the ring and there were at least 10 people in the ringside tent who were being revived from fainting spells. There was also a very severe lightning storm later that day which came up out of nowhere. We all had to run to the stabling tents for cover and the rain was just pouring down. There were horses running all over the place. That was quite memorable http://chronicleforums.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif (hey, no one said it had to be a good memory)

Goals: To not work http://chronicleforums.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif a.k.a. marry rich

Current trainer: my mom

Other Pets: Machievelli (Guinea Pig)...I just shouldn't even go into pet stores...I'm such a sucker! Oh, and Fred Funk (my kittie)...he showed up at the farm a couple of months ago - nice and fat and very affectionate (was probably someone's house pet) but completely insane! I'm certain that he has a few screws loose..he'll chase anything - the dog, blanket straps, horse tails, binder twine. And if you walk away after petting him - he'll attach himself to your leg and hop along on his two hind legs until you pet him again!

Name: Natalie

Age: 19

Location: Northern Virginia is my home, but right now I am in Harrisonburg, VA for school

Current Horse(s) Name: Chance and Sudley

Show in: just local hunter stuff

Occupation: college student!

How long have you been riding: For about 7 years now, but I used to go out with my friend when we were younger and play with her pony

Most memorable horse/pony and why: well, that would be my boy Sudley, cause I basically learned to ride on him. It must have been destiny, too, cause he was the first horse I ever rode in an english lesson! Now I own him, and he is as good as ever.

Most memorable show: it was one of my first shows. We got Reserve Champion because we did so well o/f. This was awesome coming from a horse that had been either refusing or popping everything when I first started riding him!

Goals: well, for the summer it is to get my horses in really good shape and take them to some shows (and get them ready to come to school next year)

Current trainer: don't have one

Pictures: Here are some pictures (http://community.webshots.com/user/sudley4me)

Occupation: Air Force.

How long have I been riding: Started when I was 7, took time off during college (no money or time)

Most Memorable horse: First scoolie to pitch me off; Shelly, a nondescript bay mare with the most horrible trot! Sitting trot w/o stirrups was a pain to learn! She was 27 at that point, and I was 7.

Most Memorable Show: Hard to say…recently I would have to say my very first dressage show, though the week in Del Mar was pretty cool too.

Goals: Get Kalinka and me in the A/O high Jumpers

Current Trainer: None really at the moment…Should have one in VA

Most memorable show: My last one this pst Sunday. We were division champion, something I've never been before, but more importantly Horse was wonderful! 300% better than expected. It would've been my most memorable show even if we hadn't won anything.

Goals: To move up to 3'+ divisions. Sadly, I need a new horse to do that.

Current trainer: Peggy Ginn

Apr. 30, 2003, 10:49 AM
Name: Anna

Age: 35 (gee, if 29 is "death's door", does that put me in the grave???)

Location: SW Washington (suburb town)

Current horses: Rennie, my 3YO chestnut Trakehner filly who was just started this month. She'll be my hunter. Marilyn, my "dotted horse", a dapple gray TB mare I lease until I can actually ride my baby. Calvin, my retired (chronic lameness) A/A horse who taught me that riding and jumping is FUN and SAFE with the right horse. I miss him every single day. Why do the good ones go early?

Show in: In-hand classes with Rennie. Perpetual 2'6" Pre-adult division until I have a horse that 1. stays sound 2. will jump around 3. I learn to actually ride and not panic while jumping because of #2

Occupation: Middle school teacher (which may explain why 35 means I am dead!)

How long have I been riding: on and off from age 8. Did the 4-H thing and western. Started hunter stuff at age 24.

Most memorable horse: Either my little wonder pony, Flika (aren't all chestnut with flaxen ponies named that?) or Tauren, a Hanoverian for whom jumping was not meant to be. He stopped halfway over many a fence. Do you have any idea how embarassing it is to have a fence un-built around you at a rated show?! A nasty bucker, stopper extraordinaire, and a now very successful dressage horse.

Most memorable show: Bend High Desert Classic in July of 2000. Huge thunderstorms= huge hail. Got caught out in a marble size hail storm just before a class, could not make it back to barns so took cover under farrier's tent. My Calvin just took it all in, I hopped back on and went into the ring in my bright blue parka over my show clothes and he and I marched around the still white with hail course. What a horse! We even placed!

Goal: To show Rennie in the A/A's someday. To actually show any horse in a class bigger than 2'6"!

Trainer: Bill Miller

Pets: Pooh and Fizz, two feral kitties that a friend at a vet clinic gifted me with. They had been run over by a brush hog (just some brain damage to Pooh, she forgets she's eaten and gone in or out) Teddy, my Aussie running partner.

Current Horses: Fat Mare (Kate), Toga, and William

Show In: Have no idea.. Some kinda jumpers, and flat classes with the child

Been Riding: Since I was four. Got my first horse when I was 11.

Most memorable horse: My first boy, Andy's Delight. Why? He was perfect. I miss him daily.

Most memorable show: Uhm, the first time I was going to show Toga in the jumpers, but I'd had the flu all week and couldn't ride to save my life so I fell off and smeared myself on a jump right when The Names were coming into the ring to school. Yeah, they had to dodge Toga as he ran around like a fool. We're so classy..

Goals: To ride my horses effectively, and to have them stay healthy and happy. Oh, and to freaking get to a horse show before I die, or turn 27..

Current trainer: None.

Pictures: Don't have any from the past online anymore (isn't that convienent..) so here are two from last night:

Kasper- I would so not want to be a teacher in Portland or anywhere in Oregon right now! Times are tough over here, too, and PE is always a tight market. I would suggest he just get out there and paper the offices with his applications. Vancouver/Evergreen are big districts with lots of openings each year...not too far to drive to Portland! Our district is pretty small, but can't hurt to apply everywhere. Good luck! And Synergy is the bomb! I understand why you are doing as well as you are. A good horse is worth his/her weight in gold!

Most memorable horse/pony and why: My Red Horse. (http://mediaservice.photoisland.com/auction/Apr/20034302799020235909499.jpg) I love him even if he is creaky and old.

Most memorable show: Le Mans last May. I beat some Olympians and won a class with 130 people in it, then I finished 8th with four faults a HUGE jump course at 1m35. It was HUGE, HUGE I TELL YOU. I could walk through one of the oxers with my hands spread apart not touching the poles. I was so scared. They made me drink a kir before I went.

Occupation: Currently taking some time off http://chronicleforums.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

How long have you been riding: 24 years! wow...

Most memorable horse/pony: other than Adelita, it would have to be my old QH, Woody (reg name Timber Reynolds). We did the QH circuit in the 80s in Minnesota, and it was so much fun. He was a wonderhorse.

Most memorable show: Hmmmm....it would have to be a show in MN at Carriage horse where my big TB got away and spent HOURS running through the fields because noone could catch him. It was awful.

Goals: Provide the best life possible for my mare, I really don't care if we ever do anything more than play and trail ride.

Current trainer: none

Fun!

Name: Susana

Age: 24

Location: Vail, CO currently, Del Rio, TX originally, Boston, MA for college, and last year working/riding in Duchess Co, NY

Current horse: haven't had my own in 6 years, just borrowing now

Show in: Nothing now, used to show QHs, did a bit of IHSA, last year did various lower jumper classes, frequently forgetting the course. Should probably do some pre A/A hunters, etc. to get used to showing again but want to get to the jumpers asap.

Occupation: administrative professional in real estate office (I'm a secretary, but I think the longer you make your title, even if it means nothing, the better it sounds)

How long I've been riding: since I was 4. This gets me--that equals 20 YEARS!!!! I've been riding for 20 years! How did I get this old!?

Most memorable horse(s): Too hard to pick just one:

Queta: the first horse that was all MINE, my father picked her for me and broke her from our ranch herd. Not only the spookiest horse I've ever ridden, the spookiest horse I've ever SEEN ridden. Great for a 10 year old, huh? She'll always be one of the great loves of my life.

Matt: my high school all-around youth QH. The most awesomely levelheaded horse ever. I know nothing about dressage but I hear about tempe changes--he could do those.

Skip--OTTB stallion co-owned by Monty Roberts (I always thought that sounded cool). Challenged me every day and I swear also tried to eat me. Those teeth!

Most memorable show: I won the Texas 4-H State Championship in '95, I won a saddle. Also, Gainesville last year with Skip--my first classic and first jump-off in the same class.

Goals: To figure out a way to show this summer, to get a horse to work on...it's hard when I'm this poor.

Current Trainer: I wouldn't call her my trainer since I can't even afford lessons now, but Laurie Jueneman lets me ride her horses--thanks Laurie!

Don't have any riding pics handy.

Pets: tons at home in Del Rio, TX but here just my roommie's cats--Crusty and Saki

This came out too long!

Apr. 30, 2003, 02:42 PM
Name: Ashley

Age: 18

Location: Chantilly, VA now; South Hadley, MA, for school in September

Current Horse(s) Name: Rifter - 9 y/o TB gelding (...though I've yet to ride him! Purchased him about a month ago and been nursing a nasty abcess ever since!)

Show in: Anything and everything. When I was younger, I did a lot of western pleasure and hunter under saddle at AQHA shows. If I can get my horse going this summer, hopefully we'll show in the A/As locally.

Occupation: Student, stablehand (ahem, barn slave) & newspaper editor.

How long have you been riding: I started riding when I was 9, quit when I was 12, started again when I was 16. So I guess five years... but it's all broken up and divided amongst different disciplines. Hunters for 2. Wow, that's a long answer to a very simple question.

Most memorable horse/pony and why: I have 2. My first horse, Impressed with Time (an adorable chestnut QH). He did whatever I wanted him to do and toted me around like a champ no matter how much I bounced and flopped on his back. He had a heart of gold. The second one is the horse I leased last summer. His name was Beethoven and he was this bizarre looking German Warmblood pony thingy mabob. The day my trainer went on vacation, he dumped me on my head and from that day forward, he literally did it everyday. He taught me a lot though.

Most memorable show: the Labor Day Classic at Northampton in 1995. Or maybe the South Shore shows I used to go to.

Goals: Have fun showing this summer by not taking it too seriously and enjoy the time I'll spend teaching kids to ride at summer camp. In the fall, make the IHSA team at school. In the future, show on the circuit while I'm sill young and someday have a nice little barn full of cute ponies and cute little horse-crazy boys and girls whom I can show-off at all the local horse shows http://chronicleforums.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Show in: 2'6" Equitation

Occupation: Educator

How long have you been riding: 16 years

Most memorable horse/pony and why: Lady, an OTTB. The first and only horse I've ever owned. She taught me SOOOOOO much. Passed away 9/10/01 (euthanized due to founder from Cushing's Syndrome) at age 22. http://chronicleforums.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_frown.gif http://chronicleforums.com/images/custom_smilies/cry.gif

Most memorable show: All of them were memorable in some way! http://chronicleforums.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_razz.gif But probably the time when I was Short Stirrup Champion at a local show while my dad was in the hospital, recovering from cancer surgery (he is now an 11-year survivor!). That was extra special. http://chronicleforums.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Goals: To be the best rider I can possibly be. Someday I'd like to be a competitive "A" circuit rider, and I would love to be a trainer...possibly in the therapeutic riding realm. Other goals: Finish college! Make more money! Get an apartment! Buy a horse! (sadly, in that order)

Apr. 30, 2003, 05:30 PM
Name: Holly

Age: 30

Location: GA, but I have lived all over!

Current Horse(s): My 26 year old retired hunter, Pooky. I have been waiting the past 21 years for him to mellow out. I am hoping when he hits 30 he will be manageable. http://chronicleforums.com/images/custom_smilies/lol.gif My retired large pony hunter, Shine. He is just sound enough for my three year old to do leadline. Total saint.

Show in: I have showed in just about everything at one time or another. I do not show anymore.

Occupation: GHJA Exec. Sec. and stay-at-home mom to my 3 year old son.

How long have you been riding: 24 years

Most memorable horse/pony and why: My first pony, Honey Bear. She was a doll. I got her in 4th grade and she passed away may senior year of college. I am still not entirely over it. Also, Big Tom who was owned by Michael Golden. He was an Irish Draught cross and was so phenominal. I have never enjoyed riding any horse so much in my life.

Most memorable show: Winning 1st place in short stirrup over fences at the "A" Middlesex show in 1983. I rode first and there were 80 kids. I had to wait for hours until they announced the winners. I have never been so anxious in my life. Also, NE Maclay regionals in 1989. My best friend had a great trip. I was grooming for her. I was so excited that I hugged her when she got off and we both lost our balance and fell down in the dirt and right in a manure pile.

Goals: To ride for fun. My goals have changed. I no longer want to show, but I still enjoy the heck out of riding.

Current trainer: I haven't ridden with anyone in years and I am afraid of what they would say about me now. My equitation is in the manure pile! http://chronicleforums.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

Pictures: I am a loser- I don't have a premium membership.

If that is my Sox I would be just overwhelmed. He is almost 20 this year, and was and still is my very best friend. He has a big blaze, and funny leg markings (stripe across knee, full stocking, lighting bold on knee, sock), Last I heard, Missy Roades had him at her barn, but since I believed she moved barns.. Who knows, but It would be neat to know he is at the Barracks, or rather even still going..

Name: Peg

Age: 47 (but I look WAY younger!)

Location: Minnesota

Current Horse(s) Name: Sophie (5 yr. gray Appendix QH)

Show in: Will be showing in baby greens. I'm hoping Sophie wants to be a jumper when she grows up. I've been out of the show ring since 1997.

Occupation: Information Processing Specialist

How long have you been riding: Since I was 5, so that's 42 years! Yikes!

Most memorable horse/pony and why: This is a tough question. Dune (Anglo-Arab), because he was my first. Macho a/k/a Jigsaw (Paint gelding) because he developed my "eye" and taught me to do the hunters. Sam a/k/a Garret Jax (TB gelding) because he taught me to do the jumpers, and took me directly from the 3 foot hunters to the A/O Jumpers. Lena (Holsteiner mare) because she taught me how to ride and package a huge horse, and because she took a big part of my heart with her when she had to be put down last fall.

Most memorable show: A winter jumper competition/Calcutta back in about 1992. The temperature outside was -35 degrees, and the indoor arena was heated to about 35 degrees above zero. The previous year I fell off four times. This year lots of people had put money on my horse and me, and we won. The videotape of that show is my favorite.

Goals: To get myself back in riding shape and STAY THERE!

Current trainer: I'll be on my own once I'm back riding, but Greg Sheedy (QH trainer) is working my horse until then.

Most memorable horse/pony and why: My small junior horse, Count On Me. He was my heart, my soul, and my very best friend in the world for 5 years. Name: Morgan

Age: 22

Location: Indiana

Current Horse(s): Never, my baby green large pony

Show in: Right now, just the 2'3"-2'6" stuff because Never has only been going since September. Nothing fancy, but we have fun.

Occupation: I work in the HR department of a mortgage company

How long have you been riding: 14 years

Most memorable horse/pony and why: Thumbs Up/Wink, my large paint pony. He was adorable, he was funny, he was fantastic, and he was a big giant booger when he wanted to be (that added to his charm). We both taught each other a lot, we won tons, and had a blast doing it. I keep in touch with his new family and go to see him at shows whenever I can. He's still my little buddy.

Most memorable show: My last show as a junior, which was also my last show on Wink. It was an Equifest show at Lamplight in IL. We wound up with two championships and every trip was awesome. It was the best way to end with him. I was sobbing when I walked out of the ring, because it was the end but also because he was such a good boy.

Goals: To get Never going around well enough to find her a new home to do the green ponies with. And to find a cute little girl with floppy pink bows to take her on and make her a show pony.

Current trainer: Stefanie Collier

Pictures: Nothing online yet.

Other Pets: Four cats - Pebble, Bamm Bamm, Agador, and Starina.

Most memorable horse/pony and why: Trish, my first experience with a TB. I leased her when I was 12-14 (juniors)and we won just about everything we went in. Trish (http://groups.msn.com/upsaddle/crackerjackspictures.msnw?action=ShowPhoto&PhotoID=6705)

Most memorable show: My last show three years ago when doing the A eq over fences. I wasn't originally going to go in it but then decided to at the last moment. I think I was about second to go in and the moment I entered the ring I knew the round was gonna be awesome. I think I had a grin on my face the whole way around!! Yup I won the class. Oh yah it was also the last day of my lease on the particular horse!!
Goals: To try and keep my horse happy, healthy and sound for as long he lives and to eventually do the High A/O's with him.

Goals: Try to get back into showing after 3 years off due to panic attacks http://chronicleforums.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_rolleyes.gif

Who knows, but It would be neat to know he is at the Barracks, or rather even still going..

hey NOJUMP2HI, we have sox at our barn in savannah. he is doing great, definitely still going, did a lesson this afternoon, he is such a good boy!

Location: Savannah, Ga.

Current Horse(s): Banjo, aka THE MOUTH

Show in: Children's Hunters

Occupation: soon to be Wake Forest student

How long have you been riding: 6 years

Most memorable horse/pony and why: hmmm my first pony was great, but i have to say my horse now is pretty unique. He was registered Distinctly Trouble, and lives up to it. He has been known to eat multiple lightbulbs... but is wonderful in a quirky way

Most memorable show: mroades can vouch for this, definitely falling out of the ring at chatue elan. We were working on getting lead changes by making the corner really square, lets just say i made it too square and never really turned. we plowed the gate, they put it back together but it still squeaks now! its so embarrasing!

Goals: right now, to enjoy the last few months riding at home.

Current trainer: Missy Roades, Andrew Lustig some

OK, I'll play . . .

Name: Cheri

Age: 30

Location: Atlanta, GA

Current horses: Madison Avenue (Madison), my 7 y/o TB/DWB mare

Show in: This is our first year showing o/f so we did 2 shows of Long Stirrup at 2'3" and then moved up to the 2'6" stuff -- working our way slowly but surely to the A/A's, and depending on my nerves, the 3'6"!

Occupation: Attorney

How long have I been riding: Rode/showed for a number of years as a kid/teenager, took about 12 years off, and have been riding again for the last 3 years, though to some degree I felt like I was starting all over again learning to ride my greenie last year!

Most memorable horse: Madison will be, but I haven't had her long enough for that so I'll say the pony I showed growing up in FL - great mover and would jump the moon!

Most memorable show: RMI at Chateau Elan March 2002 -- the first show my mare ever went to. Just showed flat classes, but it was such a thrill since she's the first horse I've owned and I had worked hard to buy her for myself. She won the very first class she went in http://chronicleforums.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

Goal: Continue learning and making progress as a team with my mare

Trainer: Jenny Gelb

Pets: Eng. Cocker Spaniel named Jenny . . . obviously a little confusing when I bring her to a show with me (see trainer name, lol)

Picture: All I have is a flat picture of the two of us from last year -- still waiting for a good o/f picture, but those little fences don't really impress her much!

Agehttp://chronicleforums.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_frown.gifeh hem) hitting the big four-oh in Nov. http://chronicleforums.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_rolleyes.gif

Location: Plano, TX (north of Dallas)

Horses: Piper, the sentimentally attached pasture ornament; Pistol 5-yr-old QH/Welsh pony who is in training when I can get out the barn and will be absolutely fantastic once finished.

Show in: Everything and anything appropriate for a Professional, but especially baby greens and pre-green... love them young 'uns!

Occupation: Busy mother of two boys, professional riding instructor/trainer (just found a new home barn, Lone Star Ranch in Frisco, and will be starting back into things just as soon as I get some clientelle!)

How long riding: since age 10. Bit of a late start compared to many.

Most memorable horse: Oh geez, there have been so many..... Simon, the chestnut horse I rode in college and I was the only one who could keep him on his leads and get clean lead changes; Eve, the bay mare I had some clients buy before the girl was really ready to ride her and I spent about a year doing everything for free.... she later died of an abcess in her lung that was the size of a basketball; Pocket Liner, my first horse which I purchased for a whopping $10 from a panicked client, I was 22 years old.

Most Memorable show: again, long list..... Virginia Intermont Jumper classic where I rode a bad stopper to a clear and fast round that stood me first until the last few people went; Greater Austin show where I rode a client's horse to 1st in the 3-foot Pre-Green against horses and riders that had been winning all over the state; Trader's Point in Indiana where I assisted Susan Baginski and was really able to help one of her students have a winning round, also rode in the Jumpers there, and met Terry Brown; San Antonio Christmas show where my rider Meg Pringle won the AHSA Medal and placed 2nd in the MacClay.

Goals: To have my OWN barn with organized tack rooms and wash stalls and grooming stalls... and really good clients; to have a rider make it to the Medal Finals; to have a Regular Working Hunter. (and to raise two happy boys!)

Current Trainer: nobody, but I LOVE Paul Belasik!

Pictures: sorry... computer illiterate...

Other Pets: one kitty with a funky eyeball that we inherited when we bought some property in Dripping Springs

Current horse: Aberdeen (Avery) 8 year old Quarter Horse (Tee Array Lark)..ugh, we changed that name http://chronicleforums.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

Shown in: Started showing him last year in some located rated and one "A" shows. We did tiny stuff and my trainer did most of it. This year we will stay solid in Jr/Sr and also show in anything that does not ask for 3 foot.

Occupation: Legal Secretary

How long have you been riding: Rode as a kid and gave up horses for boys.. http://chronicleforums.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_razz.gif Got dis-engaged LOL at 28 and decided to see about riding again. Leased a horse for a few months and then bought one 6 months later and the rest is history.

Most memorable horse: Avery
He is a dream come true http://chronicleforums.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif He foxhunts first flight, carts me around bareback with a halter and lead and can horse show!! I LOFF him.

Most memorable moment: Winning a large hack class on my OTTB whom was deemed totally pyscho. His original owners drove all the way from Rome, GA to see him show and admitted they did not believe me when I said he could be shown let alone win http://chronicleforums.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif We ended up Champion that day as well AND it was the only show my non-horsey parents came too.

Goal: A/O's! But on a more realist view, I would like to be competitive in the Adults.

Trainer: Michael Allen

Pets: Two Whippet's Madison, and Desi Sue
one cat, Fergie (abandoned at vets in a box at the door...6 weeks old)

Shown In: I bought Liam in December 2002 so I have only been to one show with him. I hadn't shown in almost 10 years so I was a nervous wreck! My horse took such good care of me! He was Champion in Long Stirrup! I know the jumps were tiny and the show was small, but I have never had a better day!

Occupation: Attorney

How Long: 20 years. Started lessons at 11 in Florida and showed schoolies in local hunter shows. Did IHSA during college at UGA. Didn't ride during law school and started back two years ago.

Name: Natalie

Age:31

Location: Duluth GA

Current Horse: Stetson, 8yr bay QH Gelding, our three year anniversary is this week!!!!!

Show in: Nothing, can barely afford to buy hay and put a full set of shoes on him (he's very well taken care of though, in fact-spoiled rotten). School dressage on the flat and hunter over fences, schooling at 2'9" currently.

How long: on and off all my life--mostly yeehawing though.

Most Memorable Horse: The one I have now, he is my equine soulmate.

Most memorable moment: That would be the shattered collarbone three years ago and the two surgeries that followed.

Trainer: I've worked with about seven trainers since I've had him, I feel like I have good enough foundation to do it on my own, besides, I can't afford one right now.

Other Pets: I have a 2 year Anatolian Shepherd. He is awesome.

Name: Erin

Age: 21

Location: New Jersey

Current Horse(s) Name: Sunny aka Instant Karma

Show in: To get some mileage, the baby greens, but ultimately the adult medalshttp://chronicleforums.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Occupation: headhunter

How long have you been riding: I've been riding since I was 7? So 14 years now... wow.

Most memorable horse/pony and why: Reggie aka Irish Creedence, I love him to pieces. He taught me so much and was so caring and considerate. He brought me through prechildrens to the big eq in a year and a half, tolerating all of my mistakes along the way. Also Sinny aka Sweet Nothings, we got her out of a backyard for a few hundred and she ended up being this amazing jumper. She never lost a pony jumper class, and was grand champ at garden state in the 2'6 jumpers out of over 40 horses.

Most memorable show: First show with Sinny- we threw her into the pony jumper class just for sh*ts and giggles after only jumping her over a few crossrails at home... welp, she won=)

Goals: To learn a lot, become as good a rider as possible and bring Sunny along to do the adult medals, and qualify for finalshttp://chronicleforums.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Current trainer: Claudine Liberatore

Picture from the past: Reggie and I in the Bronze Medal (http://members.aol.com/ws6transamgirl/images/erin2.jpg)

Location: Maryland

Current Horse(s) Name: Dunn By Picasso (Dunn) and Nylar

Show in: Hopeful/Special Hunters...the divisions named after Dunn http://chronicleforums.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_rolleyes.gif Nylar was my Children's Hunter back in the day, but he has a new career teaching beginners now.

Occupation: riding instructor/college student

How long have you been riding: I started when I was 8, but didn't get serious until I was about 14.

Most memorable horse/pony and why: Ny, without a doubt. He got through me through my high school years without going completely insane.

Most memorable show: The first time we went to MSA with Dunn...I was fairly sure my trainer was going to kill me by sending us into the 2'6 division (I'd only jumped crossrails on him at this point and I'd owned him exactly 3 days).

Goals: To hopefully be able to teach other kids to enjoy this sport...and to keep learning myself. And if Dunn settled down and did well with his junior rider this summer, well, that would make things about perfect. http://chronicleforums.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

Age: 49 (OUCH!)

Location: moved to Atlanta in 1969 and tried to move away many times; came back for good in 1982 (but now I want to move to Southern Pines)

Horses: Susie (second best horse I've ever owned, and I've owned a bunch, 5 yr old wmbld X), Diva (2 yr old Trakehner X), Carly ( 5 yr old paint/TB)
Can you tell from their names that I like mares?

Show in: hunters

Occupation: veterinarian

How long riding: started rding "live" horses at age 6 or so; leased horses until I finally talked my parents into buying one at 14; quit for a couple of years here and there but as my dad says, "it's an incurable disease" http://chronicleforums.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

Most memorable horse: my horse in high school: Social Affair, a chestnut TB mare who was the easiest horse in the world to ride and because I hated to sell her, many other people were successful on her after I went to college; my mother even rode her on trail rides one day a week and she was a TOTAL beginner

Most memorable show: my first trip to Florida to show on "the Sunshine Circuit", Winterhaven 1970 or 1971

Goals: to sell Diva and Carly so I can devote all my riding time to Susie; I'd REALLY like to show in Amateur Owners one day (and not make a fool of myself http://chronicleforums.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif)

Current trainer: Rick Coward (he rides great and puts up with a chicken amateur rider http://chronicleforums.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_razz.gif)

Yea!!!!!! Another ASD lover. He is our second (I share custody w/my exhusband). They are the best dogs. I try to tell that to everyone, forget about your Rotties and German Shepherds!!! Anatolians rule. We had to go to Florida to get him. Brought him home when he was eight weeks. He is the coolest dog. And soooooo handsome.

Location: From lovely Oakland Township, MI. Now in sunny Tucson, AZ!

Horse: Aclamado aka Skippy, 11, andalusian

Riding for: Off and on since I was 8.

Memorable horsey moments: Getting Skippy. Galloping in a old cornfield on the family horse, Rocky, as a child. He was an ugly grade horsey but took such good care of us. I loved him!

Memorable show: Last fall at my first A, and we did all 3 ft. classes. And did it well!

Also have: 2 cats, Murphy and Maggie.

Name: Kris

Age: 36

Location: Maryland, near Baltimore

Current Horse(s) Name: Case Closed (aka Cassie)

Show in: Like Inverness, I'm in the "hope to show" category. I did some beginner adult eq last year, but this year we're not going to show until I can do a 2'6" course.

My mare sometimes shows with a lady at the barn who doesn't have her own horse and a junior at my barn may take her to a couple little shows just for fun.

Occupation: Marketing manager for a local financial services company.

How long have you been riding: Almost exactly 4 years, with some time off for lameness (mare's and my own).

Most memorable horse/pony and why: Cassie is my first horse. But I do have very fond memories of a school pony I leased before I bought her. This pony was an absolute dream for a beginner--unless he was on trails and thought his friends were leaving him behind (he was kind of slow so that happened frequently). Then he'd break into a flat out gallop to catch up and there was no stopping him! He's also throw in a few bucks. Luckily, he was too darn lazy to really get a good buck going--so he never scared me doing that! He's still at my barn, and I still give him a carrot and scritch on the neck whenever I can.

Most memorable show: My first "off the farm" show. It was a little schooling show, but my first time riding in front of people I didn't know. I was on the above-mentioned school pony. He could be a bit stubborn, but that day he was really on and I was really relaxed yet fired up at the same time. We won 2 classes and took 2nd in the third. I was like a goofy little kid--I was so proud of those ribbons. I still have them too!

Goals: To keep the darn mare sound all summer! (She's been lame the past 2 summers--but I think we've got her figured out now!)

Current trainer: She's intimidated by the internet so I don't post her name in public!

Other Pets: 2 shelties: Maddy and Strut.

Name: Valerie

Age: 18

Location: Davis, CA and Los Angeles, Ca

Current Horse(s) Name: Addie

Show in: Low (2'6-2'9) hunters and Equitation- although I may do 3' soon.

Occupation: Full-time student at UC Davis.

How long have you been riding: I started riding when I was 12 or 13, so that's 5-6 years now.

Most memorable horse/pony and why: Hard to say- there are many schoolies I will never forget- both those I loved to ride because they were easy and fun, and those that made me work for every inch but taught me everything I know.

Most memorable show: I haven't shown much- so I don't have one that stands out more than any other. However, I won't forget the class where I did a rollback backwards (there were far too many brwon verticles in that ring!) and the judge didn't notice- a large portion of the rest of the class did it in the same order I did and got eliminated.

Goals: To have fun with my horse, and improve my riding.

Current trainer: Kelly Van Vleck and the Karazissis (one for school, one for home)

Picture from the past: http://www.geocities.com/vwiles02/Horses2.html?989948445040 (It's the last picture on the bottom- me on a Norwegian Fjord on a family trip to England when I was nine. It was my second time on a horse, and my first time falling off. http://chronicleforums.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_razz.gif )

More recent picture: No good recent pictures because I take them all, but hopefully I'll get some at the show I'm going to later this month.

Other Pets: Two dogs, a Golden Retriever (Peaches,4) and an Australian Shepard (Frisky, 11) Both are sadly at home with my parents in Los Angeles.

Age: 20, will be 21 in August!!!

Location: Wichita, Kansas

Current Horse: none http://chronicleforums.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_frown.gif

Show in: did local hunter circuit while in high school

Occupation: full time student, work on campus at student union, work with a 3 year old autistic girl which I love http://chronicleforums.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

How long have you been riding: since I was in 7th grade--but a lot of it has been off and on, like riding intensively for a few months in a row than a down time for awhile, so like 9 years on and off.

Most memorable horse/pony and why: Wow, there are 3 I hold dear! Magic--the first horse I learned to jump on, she was the best! Shamrock and Splinter, 2 horses I used to lease and loved to death for diff. reasons and miss them!!!!!!!

Most memorable show: Probably my first 2'6" show. I was on Shamrock (large pony) and so nervous, cause it was hard to make the stridings with her short stride so I just focused on surviving and we had a blast http://chronicleforums.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Goals: To be able to ride hehehe.

Pictures: http://photos.yahoo.com/drpepperspaz

Other pets: I have Jayhawk the Beta (he is mainly red and blue--go KU!) cause that is all I can have on campus. If you count my parents though: 2 dogs (maggie and grace), 1 cat (Harrison), 1 cockatiel (Harrison), some homing pigeons, the 2 barn cats/mousers that we inherited with the house, geese in the warm weather, the fox by the big pond, and a bunch of koi and goldfish in the small pond--oh and my sister is getting 2 goats (coming this weekend I think) and my m om is getting chickens...........its like a zoo!!!!!!

Okay, I'll play too!

ClavinCrowe-Long Time no See! Glad to hear you're doing well. What shows are you doing this year?

Name: Michelle

Age: 26

Location: Oregon

Horse(s): Brewmaster my A/O hunter and (if I ever show again regular hunter), Nance good old schoolmaster and lesson horse extrodinaire, Vivaldi 17yr old TB stallion, his boys Stradley and Maestro both yearlings, Wayne-Oldenburg yearling, Isabelle-broodmare, Goldie-broodmare (lease) Cher-broodmare (lease), hmmm thats all for now. Thankfully only one more "bun in the oven" for 2003.

Show in: Did the A/O hunters and whatever the "greenie of day" needed to do. Guess I'll have to do the Opens and regulars since giving up my amateur status. Also show the babies in the in-hand classes (hopefully)

Occupation: Vet. tech for an equine surgical center at night and work at the barn during the day. I take a few horses for training that need to be started under saddle and have been training/showing Arabians for my business partner.

Riding for 16yrs.

Most memorable horse(s): Would have to be Maverick and Brew. The only two that weren't sold as soon as they were "going" under saddle. Maverick because he was the best fire breathing jumper-a very hot horse that really taught me to RIDE or suffer the consequences! He passes away several years ago and I miss him still. Brew because I've had him since he was 2yrs and he just gets better every year! He taught me what a REAL hunter should feel like.

Most Memorable show: Not sure but probably everytime a baby green does their first course w/flying changes!

Goals: Hmmm....Get back in the "real" hunter ring and show in the regulars. (No offense to the arabians-I like them I really do!) AND to only work one job. Maybe a few LESS horses might help ;-) I think my husband would agree to that!

Current trainer: Floating on my own for now

Other pets: 6 cats (all rescued in one form or another, such is the household of a vet. tech) AND 2 dogs, a lab mix and a boxer-my assistant night tech at the clinic. Except for his snoring he's really quite helpful!

Current horse: Parker, a 10 YO TB gelding OTT

Show in: Long stirrup

Occupation: Sales rep for a veterinary laboratory

How long have you been riding: 2 years (better late than never)

Most memorable horse and why: I owned one horse prior to Parker, but Parker is more memorable. He's very sensitive, so he's really teaching me to ride well. He's a challenge. I'm becoming a much better rider because of him and I thank him every day.

Most memorable show: I did my first A show in October, and won a money class! Lots of luck and a nice horse that was easy to ride.

Goals: Short term - to competently ride Parker in the Long Stirrup division, and then move up to 2'6" as soon as possible; Long term - 3'6", to learn to relax more, and to establish a Beginning Hunter Division (2') in our local h/j organization to encourage beginning adults to show.

Current Trainer: Leone Equestrians

Past and current pictures: Once I figure out how to post them!...

Other pets: 9 cats - Spike, North Fork, Gizmo, Ramon, Isabel, Harlean, Suki, Jack and Kiwi; 3 rats and a fish (I used to be a vet tech, too!...

Maverick! (god I loved that horse, "firebreathing" doesn't even begin to describe him!) I am going to take little miss Rennie to as many in-hand shows as we can afford. Unfortunately, she popped a wee tiny splint, so Hunter breeding will be a challenge, but we will go for the ring experience and travel time. She just got started under saddle and is such a good girl, but man is she lazy! (so much for the hot Trakehner theory, hmmm!?) Will you be at Ft. Vancouver? I heard Bill is going to handle your babies. Such fun to be had, running around the triangle! How is Brew doing?

How long have you been riding: Started at a riding school aged 10, got my first pony aged 13, and began competing then so about 11 years.

Most memorable horse/pony and why: Cheers (Cherokee) was awesome, he used to bolt off because he wanted to, but I always felt safe (he was my first pony) he was 25 when he retired, and was still jumping nearly 90cm at 24-25 years of age!

Most memorable show: I couldnt say, every show is different. My first hunter round ever, on Cheers, which we won. And my first hunter round on Cheeky which we won :P

Goals: Just keep having fun!! I am aiming for the highest pointed appaloosa in show jumping this year in New Zealand, so we are working on it!

Age: I'll be 23 tomorrow http://chronicleforums.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

Location: Pittsburgh, Pa (NJ/Philly for the summer)

Horse: First Impression (Hastings)

Show in: Younger A/A Hunters

How Long Have you been Riding: I think like 12 years...wow....but probably 8 or 9 competitively.

Most Memorable Horse/Pony: Well my first horse Ginger taught me everything. She was the best QH ever! She knew her job and she was always right. I miss her. Hastings is also my most memorable horse too...I will have him forever. We have been through so much over the years, there is no way I could part with him.

Most Memorable Show: Hmm I have a few...Devon '97 in the locals with my old horse Tiger...the fact that I got him around respectably was enough for me! For me and Hastings: Lake Placid '99 was great because we were reserve champion in the younger adults out of a ton...he was just perfect. And also Zone Finals '01 in the younger A/O's...although I was a nervous wreck, I had wanted to go there forever, so it was great. For Hastings: As a first year horse, watching him go at Harrisburg and Washington was great. He went around like a pro!

Goals: Get out of Law School alive with a good job so that I can ride and show forever and be able to afford it!!!!!

Current Horse: Tyler

Show In: Adult Jumpers

Occupation: A student who probably needs to get a job at some point so she can not live with her parents (who are driving her crazy) anymore

How Long been riding: A while, 13 years

Most Memorable Horse/Pony: Probably Tyler because he is such a goofus and always provides me entertainment. Plus, he left me a permanant reminder of him when he gave me a nice cut on my face.

Most Memorable Show: I can't choose just one since something happens at all of them.

Goals: To keep from breaking Tyler so he can keep entertaining me.

Current Trainer: Having not been to a show in a while, I therefore have not had a lesson in a while http://chronicleforums.com/images/custom_smilies/cry.gif No really no "trainer" right now.

Age: 46 (and, yes, I do feel 20 years younger - would have no interest in feeling any younger than that!)

Location: Massachusetts

Current Horse(s) Name: Rosie

Show in: Have been doing the AA hunters, eq. Had hoped to do A/O but can't really afford it. May do some little jumper stuff this year. Not my fav but a nice change.

Occupation: Nurse Practitioner in endocrinology

How long have you been riding: Since about 8 or so. But started lessons at 12 or 13. Quit about 8 years in my 20s.

Most memorable horse/pony and why: Wow, that's hard. Rosie's pretty memorable - she's been such a learning experience, was the first baby I brought along. Then there was Excel who taught me how to event. He was awsome. Judges always commented on him as did everyone else. Everybody knew him and always asked about him.

Most memorable show: The first time Rosie got around XC clean (of course she'd stepped out of the dressage ring and we were eliminated!). The training championships on Excel when he bucked and exploded through the whole dressage test because xc was starting nearby. (Notice no hunter shows have been very memorable....)

Goals: To sell Rosie. Time to get back to eventing.... To figure out what I want to do with my professional life.

Name: Rachel

Age: 15

Location: the happy town of McLean, VA

Current Horse(s) Name: I don't own one, but the horse that i've been riding recently is Brandy

Show in: Nothing. I used to do a lot of hunter shows and a couple horse trials, but I haven't had the time lately because of school

Occupation: Disgruntled high school student. I spend most of my day forcing mindless, useless facts into my brain. I also care for the two dogs our family owns, Joey and Rascal. My other activities include playing the viola in the pit orchestra for my high school's upcoming musical, Les Misarables and the school orchestra. I also played piano, too.

How long have you been riding: I started taking lessons when I was about 9 years old. I've also shown on the local hunter circuit for about one year.

Most memorable horse/pony and why: The first horse that I rode at Amber Hill, Katie. It took me about four weeks to finally figure out how to get over a jump. Once I did, it was smooth sailing. She was such a little hunter pony! http://chronicleforums.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Most memorable show: There was a show at Lake of the Woods that I did. The horse I was riding, Honey, was being really good that day, and I was feeling "in the groove". In our eq class (which I almost never pin in), we ended up getting 2nd and beating a lot of good riders! http://chronicleforums.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Goals: To learn as much as I can. I also hope to start jumping 2 ft 6 soon!! http://chronicleforums.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

I’m the professor of riding. I’m the saviour of showing. The prophet of poling – that’s me. People here read books on horses – I wrote the book on horses. The first 12 jumping exercises they copied from me and the rest are just a waste of time. People say ‘don’t make waves’ – I am the wave. I’m a tidal wave. I’m trouble with a capital T. If it wasn’t for me the circuit would be dead. I’ve made more money than Jerry Bailey and F. Lee Bailey put together. George Morris couldn’t tie my shoestring you understand? I’ve lectured at Harvard and won the East Coast Championships on the same day. If I’m not in the hall of fame they shouldn’t have a hall of fame. I’ve bumped my head more times on the ceiling at indoors than most riders bump theirs on the ground in a lifetime. I’ve made more millionaires than all the lootteries in California. People couldn’t even get a million dollars for a horse before I started showing everyone how it’s done. Now amateur horses that make the jumpoff once a year sell for two million. I’ve beaten riders in horse shows who are better than most could ever hope to be. I’ve got a PhD, magna cum laude, from the School of Hard Knocks, University of the Ghetto.

Age: 15- 16 in October

Location: Humid, he!!ish Hong Kong- and no, you're ALL wrong! I LIVE in horse he!!

Current Horse(s) Name: Successful Smile ("Smiley", "Uberpony", &^%*^*&^), Lubenka, Nika, Wess, and Bombay ("Bee")

Show in: Dressage- depends on the horse

Occupation: Student

How long have you been riding: Ahhh... 4-5 years

Most memorable horse/pony and why: This is too tough- Lubenka gave me more experience, but I showed Wess the most... and Smiley is the first horse I've really done most of the work on

Most memorable show: A show in eastern Washington- it was hotter than I ever imagined was possible and my horse and I weren't ready to show... best show? Probably the shows I've been to with Smiley.

Goals: Become the best I can be so I can improve my horses and have fun with them

Age: 37 (I'm not old! - for all you Monty Python fans! http://chronicleforums.com/images/custom_smilies/lol.gif)

Location: West Brookfield, MA

Current Horse(s) Name: Ted (show name Salisbury Hill after my favorite Peter Gabriel song) 24 yo bay grade gelding, Barbie 10 yo black grade ponymare and Jack (Full Metal Jacket after one of my hubby's favorite movies) my 5 yo grey CANTER horse.

Show in: Local open shows in the flat eq, hack and pleasure classes with Teddy. Hope to at least do the same with Jack.

Occupation: Assistant Assessor in the local town hall.

How long have you been riding: Started riding at around 9 on trail rides at the local hack stable. Started taking lessons at 18 and have been riding ever since.

Most memorable horse/pony and why: Tough to choose between my first two: My first horse Gene (track name Mr. Eugene Clinch *yuck* show name "All The Rage") gorgeous bright chestnut OTTB who never settled down, but he taught me to ride and we jumped big fences for fun. We ever won anything, but we had a blast! http://chronicleforums.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif My second horse Murphy (show name "What If") was my first real show horse that I actually got to win ribbons with http://chronicleforums.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif! BUT, I have a feeling that my new guy is going to replace them both in the "most memorable" category. http://chronicleforums.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

Most memorable show: Children's Services in Farmington, CT in 1987. Took my horse Murphy in the pre-greens against the pros. My trainer tried so hard to get me to hire one to ride him, but as I told him, "I paid all this money for this stupid show and I'M going to ride him!" We were reserve in one o/f class, eighth in another and seventh in the hack! I was beyond thrilled! http://chronicleforums.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

Most embarrassing moment: (I added a category http://chronicleforums.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif) Same show as above in the warm-up. I'm half way around the course and we have a big chip to a fence and hat fell off. I felt like an idiot riding around with just a hair net on - I finished the course though! When I came out of the ring my trainer threatened that if that ever happened again he'd make wear "one of those awful helmets with the strap". http://chronicleforums.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_rolleyes.gif http://chronicleforums.com/images/custom_smilies/lol.gif

Goals: To find out what my new guy wants to do in life and bring him to his full potential!

Current trainer: Me, but I plan on finding one once me and Jack get going.

Other pets: Abigail and Sparky - JRT's; Odin - 12 yo Dalmatian cross; CJ - sun conure; Dylan and Chloe - parakeets; Hocus Pocus and Sheldon - llamas; four chickens; tropical fish.

Here's Jack and I on our very first ride two weeks ago.

Most memorable horse/pony and why: My last horse, Sweets. We did everything from hunters/jumpers/equitation to trail riding to speed events. She just did whatever I asked of her.
Most memorable show: At this B rated hunter/jumper show. We nailed our Medals course and the test and ended up winning. This was on Sweets, who my trainer said would never be capable of being anything fancy or doing anything great.
Goals: To figure out Tot and be able to enjoy ourselves. She's a tricky mare and we're still learning who the other one is.
Current trainer: Tracy Powers and Elana Rosenberg

Hmmm...let's see...

Name: lmlacross

Age: 24

Location: Suburban Chicago, IL (via Greensboro, NC via Suburban Boston, MA)

Current Horse(s) Name: King ("Duxbury Bay")

Show in: Pointing toward the Novice Adult Jumpers (huge aspirations, I know) once we're sound again.

Occupation: Program Specialist and Resident Camp Director for Girl Scouts of the USA.

How long have you been riding: First sat on a horse in Little Compton, RI at 5 years old. Began lessons in Plymouth, MA at 10. Fourteen years, I suppose-- sometimes more, sometimes less seriously.

Most memorable horse/pony and why: I learned a lot from many of the horses and ponies I encountered during my summers at riding camp. Naturally, my current horse is also special as he's the first I've owned.

Most memorable show: Hmmm...A local circuit hunter show in Northern Wisconsin where I, director of a summer camp riding program, won three classes and was champion on a camp horse-turned-hunter. Mind you, every horse (and most riders) at the show were filthy b/c power (and well water) had been knocked out four days earlier by a massive wind shear. A unique showing experience, to say the least.

Goals: To get (and keep) my horse sound and fit, to make more time in my life for the barn, to grow a strong riding program at my camp and to eventually move up to (and remain in) the Adult Jumpers-- long down the road!

Current trainer: Julie Koerner

Other Pets: A planned for but yet-to-be found grey kitten who will join the household this fall.

I dont know. I go to so many horseshows. I went the year it was in Oklahoma at the roller derby arena. Maybe we met at the racetrack in Tennesee? I get a lot of OTTB's there. Ive saved more horses from the glue factory than CANTER, TROT, PACE and LOPE combined. For me to buy a horse it has to have proved its soundness, so I tend to go for the ones who've raced in the most races.

I dont think we should get married. I'm 80 years older than you for one thing. You're probably just interested in all my money anyway.

Show in: IHSA - Intermediate Flat, Novice Fences, Advanced Western Horsemanship.
With Regal - local and rated shows in 2'9 and under classes - schooling, low adults, etc.

Most memorable horse/pony and why: Besides Regal - my baby - it would be Fan-tan my favorite child hood pony.

Most memorable show: Either IHSA Western Regionals 2003 where I was reserve champion (!!!) or Briarwood's C Rated in June 2002 (where Regal and I made our first show appearance together in almost a year) or Woodedge Spring 2001 when we were reserve champions in a huge division at season opening!

Goals: To qualify for regionals (IHSA) in novice fences and intermediate flat and make Zones again. Also to show Regal this summer and have fun with him - also to keep being able to ride - IE not letting my ankle get bad again so I never end up in a cast again!

Name: Jennifer

Age: 22, creeping up on 23

Location: Louisiana

Current Horse(s) Name: Opie Taylor

Show in: younger A/A or A/O hunters, depending on my back. http://chronicleforums.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_rolleyes.gif

Occupation: have a pre vet degree from LA Tech University, but work in billing at my parents company.....they are quite agreeable with my riding schedule, as long as I finish my work! http://chronicleforums.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

How long have you been riding: a little over 15 years now

Most memorable horse/pony and why: Definitely Opie, my current steed. My parents bought me a scraggly 3 year old OTTB for my 16th b-day, and through alot of work (& fun) he is a superstar hunter! Everytime I do well in a show or someone compliments us, it means so much more because I put everything I had into my boy!!

Most memorable show: Gulfport 2 years ago...it was memorable in a good/bad sort of way...I went in and rode one of my best rounds ever and they announced that I had recieved an 87 for the first round of the A/O classic. BUT, the judge scored the wrong round and that was only my first round in the hunters. I did end up winning that class though! Also, any flat class we do, because Opie loooove to strut his stuff!!

Goals: Just keep doing what I love & hopefully purchase another OTTB one day and have as much fun & success as I have had with my Opie!! (Can you tell I think TB's rule?!)

I came out of the ring and my best friend (RodeoGirl) asked me if I was picking splinters out of my teeth, I ended up 5th. GRRRRR

Well CalvinCrowe, I'm not sure what I'll be doing this year. Seems like there are so many horses so little ....mmm...Money. I might take my WB colt to Ft. Vancouver but will probably wait until later in the year. I heard the Brawley's are having hunter breeding classes so I'll probably be there with the two TB colts and a very green jumper prospect (in disguise as a baby green hunter)! Poor Brew will probably sit out another show season. I keep thinking I should just sell him since I really don't need a regular working hunter sitting in the barn. Hey.. He's not even the "Stinkmaster" anymore. HeHe http://chronicleforums.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_razz.gif
Are you taking Rennie to Ft. Vancouver?

Yeah the whole situation is a train wreck. The original show organizers wanted to change the fence heights in the low jumpers from feet and inches to celcius, but nobody could figure out the mileage rule in metric. In the end they just looked at a map and picked the city closest to Mexico.

How long have you been riding: since I was 2

Most memorable horse/pony and why: I've had 4 that have been really memorable: I've had 3 really memorable ones:
-My medium pony ASGARD RHINESTONE COWBOY bc I could fox hunt him, ride him in parades, and win at the A shows...you could also ride standing up on his back like a circus rider!!
-My would be future AO horse Smoke Rise Charlie because he had the greatest personality and was one of those horses that loves being ridden and shown.
-My large pony Sundance Kid b/c he was the first pony I ever had lots of consistent success in the show ring with, he was also my best friend and would come when he was called and follow you all around the barn (you didn't need a leadrope and he'd follow you anywhere).

Most memorable show: V.I. Classic in Lexington last year b/c it was 2 days after I had put down my horse Charlie and I wasn't too sure how I could face being around horses b/c I was so upset, but my mom suggested to ride in honor of him and I ended up having some of the best courses of my life and was champion!

Current Horses: Avenell Road a/k/a "Avery", my bay 17.2 TB rescue horse; I.M. The Pressure a/k/a "Taos", ch. 16h QH (not really mine, I'm just helping his owner with him)

Show in: Nothing yet. Avery will be making his carriage driving debut shortly and I will be happy if Taos and I can get around a long stirrup course some time this season without getting killed!

Occipation: Unemployed

How long have you been riding: 40 years

Most memorable horse/pony and why: Oh Lordy, my first OTTB, who was a son of War Admiral, with ALL that that implies.

Most memorable show: Uhh, probably the one where said War Admiral gelding jumped the JUDGE.

Goals: To get another OTTB who can "do it all" - a little hunter stuff, a little fox hunting, and can drive seriously. (Long term fantasy goal: a 4-in-hand of matched OTTB's!)

Current trainer: none

Other Pets: Liam and Noel, a/k/a "the yellowcats" - two once feral cats I rescued - they are brothers.

Okie Dokie, here goes... http://chronicleforums.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Name: Siobhan. Pronounced Shove-ON. Don't tell the telemarketers--I like hearing what they come up with.

Age: Last junior year was 1986. You do the math.

Location: Central MD, but spent my junior career in Mass. Escaped the 7 month winter with glee.

Current Horses: Sweat Equity, aka Mystic, aka The Old Man. Ex-steeplchaser, now 18 and has a heart-based tumor. Poor Old Man.

Thoroughly Puzzled, aka Puzzle. A little Paint horse we bought last summer for my sister-in-law, who has terminal breast cancer and always wanted a chestnut Paint. She can no longer ride, but comes and feeds him treats, and I am taking him to his first horse show on the 25th!

Show In: Local baby stuff for now. Hope to win lottery http://chronicleforums.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_razz.gif and get back to the Ammies.

Occupation: Licensed Veterinary Technician, small animal emergency and critical care. I'm actually now the Practice Manager, so I only do one overnight shift a week--thank God!

How Long You've Been Riding: Started in 1976. I refuse to compute that!

Most Memorable Horse/Pony: Wow. There's a bunch. The Old Man will go down in history as one of my favorites, even though (or especially because) he's a quirky old b@stard. My junior horse (and screen name honoree) Sing Mia Song. Global, from my pro days--taught me all there was to know about TBs! My fearless first pony, Spit-Spot, who was killed in a barn fire.

Most Memorable Show: The one in my last junior year when I had horrible menstral cramps and wound up taking three Darvocet--and winning the Open, Medal and Maclay...oh, you said I have to actually remember it! In that case, there are two: winning the 1988 CHJA adult finals (I can still remember that course and exactly how it rode!) and Farmington 1989 on Global, when every course rode perfectly and he was so happy that he would squeal softly at the ends of the lines--but only the ones away from the judge! That horse was almost human, he was so smart and had such a personality!

Goals: Somehow gain control of the Firestone Empire. http://chronicleforums.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif Actually, I would like to get another OTTB this fall and start the long road back to the show ring.

Current Trainer: None. Hope to ride with Kenny Krome after I pay down the mortgage a little more.

Other pets: Matilda the wonder dog; Metro Gnome, the weiner dog; Annabelle the psychotic beagle; Malcom and Mocephis, the perfectly matched black barn cats.

Name: Elizabeth (aka Elizabi**h)

age: 33 (ugh, looks much worse in print)

Location: Currently VA (lived in CA, DE, NC over past 12 years).

Current horse: give me about 6 months and I'll let ya know.

Occupation: was Product marketing manager am now managing rental properties and doing accounting (looooong story).

How long riding? Well, after a 20 year break, am back in the saddle as of a week. Loving it! Before that hiatus, rode for about 3 years.

Memorable horse: 'Jake' - was not mine. He was at the barn I rode at as a child and spent his life terrorizing humans. Big, white, mean sob. By the time I had to stop riding, I think he had a concussion, 2 broken arms (different people) and multiple bruises/cuts credited to him. Looking back, I have no idea why they put up with his actions. It was my first and only experience with a truly dangerous horse.

Memorable show: Only one I ever attended, approx 1980 in NC. Fainted from heat first day, watched someone have a horrible fall before my round the next day, ended up with a ribbon. Could not tell you for what (haha) but did some jumping. Only other thing I remember is being up at 6am braiding.

Goals: To become a good horsewoman and a decent rider. Get a small farm, adopt some companion horses, have a few riding mounts. I dream of being able to walk out on a porch with steaming cup of java in the early morning and just watch them. Oh, and I guess get married and have kids. http://chronicleforums.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

Current teacher: Sallylou!

Pets: two cats, Whisper (who doesn't) and Shameless (who is). Miss my mastiff Arkus (little bear) - job relocations forced me to give him up. http://chronicleforums.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_frown.gif

Name: Susan

Age: 32

Location: Baltimore

Current Horse(s) Name: sigh....no one- for now! My three horses I had as a junior: Sweet Baby James, Spin Echo, and Flip Angle [Mom named the first one, Dad, a physicist, named the last two!]

Show in: sigh....nothing. Too poor....none of my junior clothes fit anymore, and I've got no horse!

Occupation: Ph.D. student in political science (that's why I'm poor!), and I work part-time at a snooty video store to pay for my lessons.

How long have you been riding: started at 8, ended at 22, started at 32 again!

Most memorable horse/pony and why: the three I owned were all total loves, and my friends and showing partners, but I'll never forget Fifty-Fifty, this big old QH/TB X who I won my first blue riboon o/f with in my very first show!

Most memorable show: The one at Denada in IL after I had just had my tonsils out, at age 15 (it's much harder if you aren't a little kid). Because it hurt to eat, I had lost 15 pounds and was almost high from the heat, but my total greenie, Spin Echo, packed me around and we got Children's champion!

Goals: Just to be riding again is sheer joy- I can't remember now why I put off doing it for so long. As I get closer to the level of riding fitness I was in before, I'd like to try something different than hunters- maybe jumpers! I've always loved jumping big, and I'm more utilitarian than elegant in the saddle, although I try!

Current trainer: Lyndi Prettyman

Other Pets: oh, it's a long list: Milo, Zed, Paco- dogs; Kelsie and Tenchi- cats; Ein, Jet Pack Jane, Goku, Bumble and Yoshi- ferrets; and Washu, Sasami and Krillin- guinea pigs!

Name: Talia

Age: 16

Location: Canmore, Alberta, CANADA!!!!

Current Horse(s): Heidi (New Heights) aka Big Ears: 16.1hh, 6 year old, TB mare, bay w/ no white Timber (Turning Point) aka Fat Little Arab: 15.2hh, 5 year old, QH X Arab gelding, bay with hind sox and star/stripe and snip

Show in: Heidi is going Pre-Training eventing and will move up to Training after the first 2 or 3 events. Timber is going Snurf and then Starter and hoping he's sold.

Occupation: High School Student (grade 11) and work at the wrap/pita place

How long have you been riding: 13 years (english and western)

Most memorable horse/pony and why: Nugget was the first horse I ever rode. A grade QH somethin or other palomino mare that my aunt bought for my cousins (who are now 25+) to do 4H on as younger boys. She packed me around as a 3 year old and is now my cousins childrens horse, still doing a marvelous job. I rode her daughter (Maggie Moonshine aka Maggie) when I got older and am now the proud owner of her grandson, Timber. I was lucky enough to ride her in 2000 and chase cows on the old gurl. Still going strong in her late 20's and has that spunk in her that can't be missed.

Most memorable show: Cross-country at her first show after having the whole summer off due to countless attempts at left hind amputation through punctures, gashes, fence jumping...etc. She jumped wonderfully and was a XC machine through and through.

Goals: To ride effectively and bee as strong in my horsemanship and stable management skills as my riding. And for 2003 to do a Training 3-day!

Current trainer: Sandra Donnelly(SJ and XC), Marilyn Dawson-Dixon (SJ) and Val Hellerud(D)

Current Horse(s) Name: one pony - Smokey Joe's Cafe and one young TB - Love On The Rocks

Show in: child/adult, specials, modified adult hunters

Occupation: science teacher

How long have you been riding: started at 7, ended at 17, started at 35 again!

Most memorable horse/pony and why: Gosh..they are all memorable. I think my pony as a kid, Kevin Barry, because I did EVERYTHING with him. I did the medium ponies (qualified for pony finals) and foxhunted him also. That pony could and would jump ANYTHING!

Most memorable show: Grazing Fields last year, because my evil pony didn't stop (for once) and I got a 6th place ribbon out of, like, 25 people. The fences looked really big, the oxers looked really wide, and the lines were LONG. I rode aggressively (which is NOT me) and got him around. He is a truly EVIL stopper, so this was a memorable course!

Goals: To do the Adult Amateur Hunters (3 ft) with my new TB. It will be a couple of years, though...

Current trainer: Tommy Hern

Most memorable horse/pony and why: My pony, Sugar. She was soo good. My trainer called her the bucking bronco. But then I developed a lisp, making almost impossible to pronounce my horses name. But she was really cool. Shes for sale too! If anyone needs a childrens-pre-mini-schooling-baby-green-hopeful-chicken little pre hunter, shes the one!!

I know it's not safe, but he'd take a peppermint out of my mouth, give kisses, and we'd go for trail rides with just a halter and two leads. He was useless as far as equitation, but oh I loved him.

Most memorable show: My first show with Kitty. I almost hit the ceiling of the indoor. Man can that boy buck!
