It looks like we are loosing our baby to this awful cancer.

His symptoms indicate it - we are just waiting for the blood work to come back.

Anyone here have this happen to their dog?

I am so sorry, it is awful to have a sick dog with little chance of recovery.

Unfortunately yes. Cancer, especially Histio is the leading killer of berners  That is the main downside to the breed - short lifespan (7-8 yrs). It doesn't respond to much and it normally is just a matter of time. Sorry for the bad news

I'm so sorry for your dog. I lost my Bernese with the same type of tumor in November and it is still so fresh, I miss her every day. She was diagnosed in April, when she had bloat surgery and tumors were found on her liver. They removed them at the time of the surgery but additional tests found a large mass in her chest/lung area so it had already metastisized. Chemo bought us some additional months time but not enough. The only good thing is she never acted sick until three days before being put down. Then she just went downhill so fast in those three days.
She was the best dog I have ever owned. Sweet, gentle, loving and oh, so beautiful. She was 7 1/2 years old.
Good luck and spoil her like crazy.
