My gelding has had NQR stifles (L worse than R but both at some point) he is 11 years old and has the "sticky stifle" syndrome.

My vet wants to inject both stifles and possibly his hocks as well (although on hock flections he trots off a 0.. impressive for a 4' horse)

I just dont have enough knowledge to know if this is the route i need to go or not

It depends what you have already tried in order to fix the stifles. Some horses need "spot training" for the muscles supporting the stifle. This includes transitions, work over tall cavalletti and hills. Lots of hills. Walk and trot up. Walk down, straight.

If you have done all that and he still needs help, then you may need injections. But I'd try this first.
