Wondering if anyone here has used For Compliment frozen? I'm considering an order of either FC or Furst Romancier. I know breeders on this forum have used the FR frozen, but has anyone tried the FC frozen???

What are your thoughts on his pedigree say in comparison to FR? I realize they are rather different, but could we attempt to compare the pros and cons?

I have heard of a couple pregnancies. That makes me feel brave enough to use some of my FC frozen this spring.

I have also heard of a pregnancy from FC semen.

I quite like FC and would breed to him if I had the money to spend this year! He is a bouncy, rubber ball mover with a good engine. I also love his damline with the Calypso II. Adds a fresh dose of Holstein blood that is seldom available for dressage breeders of Hannover and Oldenburg.

He has since sold through the PSI, so not sure of his availability anymore?

The last two of those were born on our farm. You can find more pictures and video here:

I just love FC and what he produced in our studfarm. Every single foal was special and showed excellent potential. I definitely plan on using him again and look very forward to seeing his first crops under saddle. Am sure they will be great!

Where will For Compliment be standing next year? He was sold at PSI in December.

I think Kareen's foals are quite nice, but FC is not as long-legged and refined as what I would have preferred to see. Crossing him with half-TB mares or those types I think would be well advised.

He will be handled via Hubertus Poll in Hörem.

He was bought by Mr. Sandbrink whose family used to own Grundsee (Damsire or the one FC filly in the link) and also the sire of the olympic dressage horse of Heike Kemmer. they were one of the first to privately own stallions in the area not too far from Celle in his times.

Poll/Hörme is also home of Imperio, Buddenbrock, Connery and others.

And...that is exactly what I like about him. I'm using the breeding for our long legged, more refined KWPN mare.

Thanks for the links to the foals, I watched the videos of both and I'm impressed! I wonder if they will still freeze him now for the NA market?

I agree. If I want a more refined horse I buy a TB. My focus is entirely on the aspect of ability for the sport. There are more than enough black beauties flying around nowadays. It will be interesting to see if Stefan will compete him because I don't think he has been given a fair chance to prove himself in the sport by now. Next year will bring his crop at licensing age if I am not mistaken. It'll be interesting to see what those foals have matured into.

I try - no foal. Boo. I think he's terrific.

I wonder if and how much he was ridden from 3-5 as he has lost so much of his movement compared to 3yo... Will be great fun to see how he will develop in his beautiful new home. Surely he must feel like he has hit the lottery already :)

Keep us posted about your foals will you? I definitely plan on using him again. Not sure if I have a mare for him this year but I definitely loved what he did for us thus far! Will also be curious to see what he does himself. His owner reports they are riding him and plan on keeping it that way. That's causing quite a bit of effort for them I applaud. The stallion deserves more recognition. He has never really competed before he was 5yrs yet placed in 2nd level young horse tests right away. That is quite an achievement if you've hardly ever seen a showground before.

Here's him as a 3yo:

will do.. the mare Im using him on is by an Irish TB out of a Renoir/ Fruehlingsrausch line mare. She has legs a mile long. Im pretty excited about this cross. I had been thinking about Fidertanz but I think this match will be super.

Can anyone comment on FC's temperament, or the temperament of his foals?

The three we've had on the farm are all very easy going and quick learners. One is supposed to stay with us for another while I am somehow hoping her owner will consider leaving her here until performance testing as I am drooling quite a bit over her *lol*
He is only 6 this year so his oldest progeny will only be 3 and coming under saddle right now. As he doesn't have masses of offspring it'll be very interesting to see what pops up at stallion approvals and/or material class outings in the future...

For Compliment seemed very easy as a young horse, but when I saw him in December, he looked more on the hot side, with a heavy neck. However, how much of that is how he has been ridden and worked, and how much is the stallion's character, I would have no idea.

I personally do not like super refined horses and like what FC produces, but for a stallion to suit my tasts, his type is fine, but he could have longer legs. He also was on the fat side when I saw him in December, so that didn't help!

It will be great to see his offspring under saddle. FC really does have a lot of front leg, but could be faster behind. However, again, that could be the way he was trained, so it is great he had gone to a super home and we look forward to wonderful things int he future. :)
