View Full Version : soggy ring quick fix?

Our turf ring is barely usable with the excessive rains we have had in our area this fall/winter. It usually recovers well after heavy rains but the ground is so saturated here that there is nowhere for it to go. Some of the ring is rideable but there are some squishy, slick spots that don't dry out anymore. Spending the $ to properly convert to a sand ring is out of the question this year as we are in the process of (finally) trying to salvage our ancient farmhouse.

Any quick fixes to get us through the balance of winter/spring? Would adding sand to the soggy areas help at all? Was thinking that maybe some sand around the perimeter would at least add some traction to the slick spots? Install drain tiles in the spring? If the wet weather keeps up we are going to have to start trailering to other farms to ride.......Any thoughts or suggestions would be appreciated!

Good luck! We too have the same issue with our sand ring right now, all the ground around here is super saturated and not much you can do about it!

Ditto. Same here. Only fix I've found is to ride somewhere else until spring. :(
