Mar. 31, 2003, 08:21 PM
zazou, if you go to here (http://www.unlvtickets.com/tmcrodeoseatchart.htm) there should be a seating chart for the Thomas & Mack center in the rodeo configuration, which is what it will be for the World Cup.

The stadium isn't that big, so there's really no such thing as the nosebleed section. http://chronicleforums.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif It looks like 235 would put you at the end of the ring, right above the tunnel where they enter the ring.

As for getting together, there was a thread from a few weeks ago where we talked about all trying to meet on the outdoor patio. We didn't agree on a day or time though.

dmj, all 4 of us are driving there together. It's the same group of barn friends that I went with in 2000 and we had SO much fun! We are staying at the Aladdin. Too bad you aren't going to the World Cup!

Eurohorse, the horse stuff shopping was pretty good at the World Cup in 2000. Mary's Tack and Feed was there, the Devoucoux rep was there with lots of goodies (I bought some nice stirrup leathers) and they had lots of jewerly stands and horsey knick-knacks. The regular shopping is fabulous too...we spent many hours in the Caesar's Palace mall and I bought the cutest outfit at Anne Taylor at The Venetian (it was on sale even!). We also went on the roller coaster at New York, New York. I didn't end up gambling at all because I was so busy shopping!

So does anyone have any suggestions as to what time and day we should all meet up? For some reason, I seem to remember that there were times when there were intermissions, I guess when they were setting for the jumpoff or something? Perhaps a time like that would be good since everyone will definitely be there during those times. I'll be there Wednesday in case anyone wants to meet up in between the two warmup classes. Although I think maybe we should have the big gathering on Friday or Saturday when more COTH people are likely to be there?

I hope to make it in time for the warmup round on Wed - and avoid some traffic out of LA. If not there, then at the residence inn - you staying at the one closest to the T&M, right? Saddith, actually I am staying at The Aladdin. We booked months ago, so we got a fairly decent rate ($100/night I think) and we are cramming 4 of us in there. I think we are driving there on Wednesday morning in my friends dark blue Explorer...so if you see one on the road, we'll be the 3 blondes with one brunette. I'm not sure what I'll be wearing yet though! I'm sure I will run into you at the show though...I don't remember too many people being there last time on Wednesday. I'll be looking for your red polo shirt!

The breaks when they're resetting the course aren't really long enough to meet, except to run up and say hello. They do, however, open the doors very early -- to allow plenty of time for shopping! http://chronicleforums.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif -- and we can meet before one of the sessions starts, on the outdoor patio that looks over the parking lot and temporary stalls. Maybe the Saturday afternoon session would be good?

Mr.AAJ loves the storms in the desert, but the best ones are in July/August, when there is a lot of lightening...it's really cool. We almost got hit by a bolt of lightening while driving through the desert to Lake Havasu a few years back!

I designed a bunch of flood control channels and worked on some dams in Las Vegas....it would be cool to actually see them with water in them!

Hmm on Fri the show starts at 6.45. How about a get together at Kahunaville inside of Treasure Island from 3-5? Their Strawberry Margaritas are quite tasty I hear.

Whadda y'all think?

Oh speaking of Fri, if anyone needs a ticket or two email me, They're excellent seats and I have to work. =(

cheers

Noooo rain! This is such a bummer. All the other times I've been to Vegas it was Thanksgiving (and FREEZING cold)...so all I got to do was look at all the spiffy pools and be sad...

Oh well...it's not like there won't be anything else to do! And let's just hope the weathermen aren't right (for once in their life).

I guess it depends where you look!
Weather Underground (http://www.weatherunderground.com/cgi-bin/findweather/getForecast?query=las+vegas%2C+nv) is calling for mostly sunny and 70's on the weekend. Since we're trying to do some rock climbing while we're there and you can't climb at Red Rocks if it's rained in the past few days (the rock is too soft) we're hoping for sunshine!

Is anyone going to the charity concert Friday night?

just going to point out that it was supposed to rain today as well, but when I look out the window I see a beautifully blue sky.

Did anyone see a final confirmation if Lauren Hough was going to go to the World Cup despite her injuries or Todd was going instead? I haven't seen anything since the reports she broke her collar bone.

Hi everyone. Sorry, I have been busy in recent weeks and haven't been around the boards too much. However, Mr Akro and I will be in Vegas come Wednesday, and would like to meet up with other BBer's if possible. I like Propspony's suggestion of meeting at Kahunaville, especially since we happen to be staying at Treasure Island http://chronicleforums.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_cool.gif Plus, it is my birthday on Thursday, and it looks as if I might finally have a job of some sort, yeah!!!, so it is time to celebrate a little http://chronicleforums.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

FYI, our seats are in Section 107 and I will be taking my COTH cap.

So, is anyone meeting at the Thomas and Mack, or is it just Treasure Island now? I won't be there in time for TI on Friday, so that's why I was wondering if there's still a reunion at the actual event.

I won't be at Treasure Island either because I doubt I can drag my friends down there, and I don't want to go alone. But I will plan to meet outside on Saturday before the show.

Thanks, elizalex, for the update. It should make things interesting as Todd, perhaps more than others, can view this as an opportunity with nothing to lose and everything to gain. Not as potent as Oh Star I still wouldn't be shocked to see Todd and Gardenio high in the final standings.

With that said, does anyone want to predict the final 1-2-3 placings?

I'll have to see what is going on...we are doing the spa thing and I think we are scheduled to get facials or something, but I don't know when. And then I think we are planning on getting dinner before the show. I am sure I will see you on Wed or Thur and I will let you know what is going on then!

I'll place a bet, although my average has been abysmal lately. 1. Rodrigo Pessoa 2. Markus Fuchs 3. Norman Dello Joio
Wild card picks: Robert Smith, Meredith Michaels, but only if they stay out of the casinos.
It would be so fun if Norman won on the 20th anniversary of his last win, but to actually PICK him first is to jinx him.

I would imagine that you could bring a small backpack...if they complain just slip it into the large bag you will be carrying from your morning at the trade show http://chronicleforums.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_razz.gif

hmm, well it's hard to pick just a few this year, with so many good riders and horses going. 1 - Ludger Beerbaum 2- Rodrigo Pessoa 3- Toni Hassmann ( I love his mare Goldika!) A couple more contenders: Markus Merschformann (Camirez B is a great horse),Robert Smith (I like his horse Mr. Springfield a lot) and McLain Ward if his horse is as good as last year http://chronicleforums.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif . I hope Franke Sloothaak will do well too, he had so much bad luck last year. I don't know about the Americans, since I haven't seen them much.

But don't trust me on this, because I have never picked a winner http://chronicleforums.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif
