A friend could use some suggests for her elderly horse. His back legs are black with loose poop and his tail is, not just black, but the stuff is frozen and hangs in pieces of ice. It is so gross and nasty. With these extreme temperatures I can do nothing without a wash stall and warm water. Any water or any product I would spray on him would freeze on him in seconds!! What I am in need of is to know if anyone else has ever dealt with this problem and solved it successfully. He has had blood work to rule out anything of a serious nature... that's good. He is NOT loosing weight and is eating and behaving normally. Final diagnosis is age related and that is after much consultation; he is about 25. He has been given Probios and Fastrack without much success. I really just hope a horse owner has encountered this issue and might have a suggestion that could help. Thanks...
