The cut off for free readings is 1pm eastern Sunday 1/10/10. If your post is made after 1pm today and you haven't made a donation I will skip yours. All posts before that I'll keep working on! Thanks this has been a ton of fun!!!

It's that time of year again!

Now through Sunday afternoon all readings are free, after that, a donation to Canter Ohio is needed.

Of course, if you'd like to donate to Canter Ohio for your reading... please do so! Every dollar counts!

This week only, my service is free.

Ask away. I'll gladly contact your horse for the answers.

Please provide horse's name, age, sex and location along with any question you'd like answered, please limit this to one question per horse.

Enjoy, SWAMMY RABBIT!

ETA: please post here, not via Private Messaging so we can all have fun with this thread. As always, this is for charity, entertainment purposes and fun only.

Horse: "Babe" 18 yo bay mare, NY

Question: I know you loved all those long fast cross-country rides we did the last two years, but we might not be able to do them again for a long time, and when we don't it's like you change from a sleek fiery race horse into a tired old school horse. Is there something else fun you'd enjoy instead? Second best, at least?

Horse: Tripp
Age: 5 (6 this year)
Sex: Gelding
Location: Kingsville,Texas, but he may not be sure of that he may still think South Carolina but he is pretty smart I think he knows what state he is in.

Question: I know his new saddle does not fit him 100% correctly but Im sure it fits better than the old one. Hopefully he is more comfortable with this one especially for jumping. He just started jumping this past August. Does he enjoy jumping and is he ready to go higher? I know he likes working cows and I hope he likes jumping equally as much.

Horse: Gidget
Age: 15
Sex: Mare
Location: Kingsville, TX

Question:Is she jealous of me always riding Tripp and would she me prefer me to ride her instead? She has been retired from being my show horse a few years and had 2 babies (Tripp and Cruise) unfortunately we lost Cruise when he was 3 days old. I'd love to breed her again although I know she is not thrilled with the idea of being a mommy. More recently she was REALLY sick (104.5 fever) and it took use two months to get her feeling better. I love this girl so much! She is truly my girl and I hope she knows it!!

You could have blown me away with a feather when I read your response. Last year, she 'told' you she wasn't happy in Aug. This year, she 'told' you about keeping her white clean. We found out late last August, after we returned from a trip, that she had developed a terrible case of rainrot. Since then, we have indeed been extremely vigilant about keeping her white clean. Dante, why must you insist on acting like a green-bean and spooking at everything in the winter, even though you're really an equine god and can do everything? Also, would you rather be eventing or doing the jumpers? :) And are you happy right now, even though you don't get to do much fun stuff while there's so much snow? :)

Ooh, I have some questions for some of the CANTER owned horses in Maryland :)

Horse: Good Omen (We started calling him "leo" but lately I've just been calling him Omen)
Age: 4 years old
Etc: Plain bay with four white whiskers on his nose

Would you like to try jumping? Oh, and btw, I'm sorry for annoying you with all the bareback wandering around the other day, when you were wanting to play with your turnout buddies.

Horse: Katerina's Song
age: 16
etc: beautiful dark bay, no white

Are you enjoying the dressage lessons?

Horse: Cecil

Dear Swammy Rabbit:

Can you ask my horse if he is happy at his new home with his new trainer? We just moved barns a month ago. He seems very happy to me, but he is always such a sweet boy and such a loving guy too (might not be love, might be the treats I always have for him in my pockets....hmmm). Can you ask him why he sometimes acts up and is naughty without any explanation, but other days he is sweet and kick-along quiet? And, does he like the apple treats or the paddock cakes better?

I will make a donation to CANTER as soon as I post this... My baby is a former CANTER horse. :)

Oh how fun! Can I ask a question for both of mine?

Name: Tommy
Age: 15 this year
Sex: Gelding (quarterhorse, if that makes a difference)
Location: Sioux Falls, SD

Question: What does he think about going to live with Gramma for a while, and getting to be a trail and SCA horse instead of Mom trying to make him be a dressage horse??

Name: Pirate
Age: 13ish
Sex: Gelding, mustang pinto
Location: Sioux Falls, SD

Question: (he's hard to come up with a question for since he communicates so well anyway LOL - if this was "real" I'd ask what actually happened to give him all his disabilities, but ... ) Rethought it, and here's the actual question: What can I do regain your trust and get our bond back after this horrible year of treating your cancer? And let him know it's gone now ... and it was all truly for his own good, even though it broke my heart with every treatment! I've been telling him this and it seems to be helping, but you know, any little bit helps ;)

If that's too much, I'll stick with my original question for Pi: Blanket or no blanket, which do you really prefer?

I actually have two questions I'd like to ask. Could the second come with a donation? :)

That said:

My horse is Kieran, he's around 6, he's a gelding, and he's located in Maryland.

The more important question I want to ask is how he feels about the riding we've been doing in the ring and whether or not he's confused about what I've been asking of him.

(The second one, if the donation thing is okay, is whether he has any particularly itchy spots he'd like scratched, I haven't found any.)

Thank you!!

I have 3 new horses, 2 mares and a gelding. They came from a farm where they ran in a herd, never touched. I got them in August, and am riding 1 little mare, she's great. The other mare couldn't be sweeter, but was a bit off, so haven't done much with her.

The gelding is the problem. His name is Lt. Dan (louie) TB/Perch cross. He is great once caught, did all the initial round pen work so we could walk up and halter, etc - He's only 2 and BIG 16.1 or 2 and still growing. So I put him out to pasture for 2 months, the owner would go out and pet, and groom, etc.

I got him home, and he has decided he doesn't want to play. We actually caught him and worked with him last weekend, but he was AWFUL. Pushy, rude, etc. WE had a rough time, but ended o.k.

I can now pet him with the help of a little grain, but not catch him - he's not worse than he was, my friend actually caught him over the weekend.

Horse: olivia
Age: approx 17
Location: NY

Oh, swammy rabbit, can ask miss olivia why she insists on flying backward at a canter each and every time my butt hits the saddle, even though she's sound, the vet has found nothing and she is perfectly happy to come out and lunge every day? Does she really just hate me, or is she just being your stereotypical chesnut tb mare that just wants to stand around, eat and have babies????
