I have a 21-mo half-Lusitano filly who is the slowest grower ever.

At 12 months she was 13.3h. Now she is 14.1h.

Daddy is 16.1h, and tends to sire around his size. Mommy is 15.3h, no idea how tall her first foal was.

Filly string tests to 16h (15.3 with knee to coronet, 16.1 with elbow to ergot).

Mommy has fairly short legs, and daddy is about average. So super-long legs do not run in the family.

Will she ever grow? I wanted a smaller horse, around 16h being ideal. But I really don't want to end up with a 15.1h mare.

My half Lusitano gelding finally stopped growing last year... at 7 years old.

She will grow, but don't be surprized if that last hand comes out between like... five and eight... :uhoh:

I MEAN--NO, she is DONE GROWING NOW... and FAR too small for you, and because she is so awful, *I* will graciously offer to take her off your hands. If you just pay for shipping, I'll give her a home for life... :D :D

I'm sorry, but asking if a 21 month old filly will grow, when most horses don't stop growing until 6 or 7 is kind of like asking if you're 12 year old child will be stuck at that height forever - unless it's one who shot up to 6'8" at the age of 12, but that child will probably top out at 7'11". ;):D;):lol:

I'm always just absolutely amazed that people will absolutely positively declare a horse way to small for them when the horse is 2 years old.

So, to answer your question, YES, your filly will grow.

How thoughtful of you PP.... Just offering to take one for the team.... LOL

No, she's not done growing, not by a long shot.

Haha well at age 12 I was a little over 5 foot now I am a whopping 5'2" The doctors kept trying to convince my parents I was going to be 5'7".....at age 23 I am still waiting!

Anyways at not even 2 I would think she will keep growing. You never know some of those that seem like they are going to be short grow tons late.

Well obviously she will continue to grow somewhat. I'm just so used to hearing that everyone else's babies are her height as weanlings or at 12 months, that I am hoping she makes it over 15h.

But sorry PP, even if she stays a runt, she'll be staying with me. I adore my Luke filly. Just might have to get my legs shortened to ride her!

And yeah, I stopped growing at 13. I was 5'8" then, still 5'8" now.

I stopped growing in jr high, too . Anyway, here's another tool to torment yourself with while waiting for her to finish out: height calculator (http://www.ctarabians.com/How_tall_will_my_arabian_foal_grow.html).

Also, muscle adds height to horses. I think I just read it can be as much as two inches (it lifts the withers or something).

Probably not going to be over 16H at that size...but not going to be a hony either. I would guess she will end up about 15.3H like mom.
