Hey guys,

I am totally glad that we have this forum because I want to pick all your brains.

I have a 12 yr old mare ( not maiden) ( Tambourin / Loretta ). I am looking to breed her in 2011 probably but am looking for advice. She is an Elite Han Mare.

I am looking for a jumper stallion, hanoverian.

I was looking at As Di Villagana http://www.superiorequinesires.com/stallions/as_di_villagana.htm or http://woodrun.org/breeding.php who I love but wanted to know if you had any other advice. And you can see the mare in pictures for her conf.

Thanks in advance for the help !

Here she is......

Ok, I have NO experience with this stallion, but I've kind of been drooling over him for our Hano mare.

wlrottge - I really like Liberty Gold as well! What a mover! And the temperament too!!

Im curious about his offspring thus far. Im sure most are still very young, but what/if does he improve upon the mare?

To My Surprise - What a nice mare! Congrats!

Im not sure if Goodtimes is Han, but he makes some really lovely babies, and nice movers too.

A young stallion thats caught my eye is Bon Balou. Hes young, but if your not looking to breed for another year, Id say keep an eye on him.

Good luck! And happy stallion searching. :)

If you want to breed a jumper, you need to breed to a jumper stallion. As lovely as Liberty Gold is, he is not a jumper stallion, nor is he jumper bred.

You don't say where you are located, but if you go to the AHS website and select Stallions, JBP Approved Stallions, you will get a list of approved stallions in the AHS jumper breeding program. Lots of nice boys on that list.

As di is a spectacular stallion in type, ability and temperament. He had a very successful GP career under Argentine team rider Pato Muente. He is now owned by amateur Laura Linback who won a $100,000 GP last year at Hits Ocala and a $50,000 already this season. The German Hanoverian Celle is sorry they sold him as his offspring in Europe are now very successful and popular.

If I was looking for a Hanoverian jumper stallion, I really really like this guy:

http://www.southlanefarm.com/forsale/Hunter%20horses%202005/Providence/Providence.htm

I got an updated flyer via email for him yesterday :

Bred from the classic international
jumping bloodlines of:
PILOT / ALME / RAMIRO

2 champions from his first foal crop PROVIDENCE produces foals that are athletic, powerful, tall, with very correct conformation, beautiful toplines and excellent type

“Correct Conformation”

“Power/ Quality”

“ Modern type / Athletic”

Were the judges remarks!

With seemingly unlimited scope and excellent technique Providence is being prepared for the German Championships by
Markus Beerbaum in his 5 yr. old season . First show out Markus and Providence take 1st place with an 8.5 and are already Qualifed for the 2010 Hanoverian Show Jumping Championships in Verden

Isnt he cool? :) I'm glad you like him ...

And Joe holds semen stock here in Canada so it would be easy to get some shipped to you as well

He is probably my favorite Hanoverian stallion out there at the moment and one I hope to use on my mare one year as well ...

Good luck in your decision - some really nice choices here for you ... :)

I have bred to two stallions in the JBP and wouldn't hesitate to use either again, Landkonig, Raffaello, and will be using a third that I'm *really* excited about, For Play this year.

Look at Le Primeur. A beautiful stallion, great mover, jumps well, 3 stallion sons in europe. He has a great attitude. Too much white for the continent lucky for us in North America.

Any ideas from those of you who do this as more than a hobby why he's a bad choice?

Hi,
I have bred to Providence and I am more than happy with the results. Perfect conformation, beautiful expression, nice floating movement, courageous... I highly recommend you not to overlook this one. I would do it all over again without a doubt...
