Folks I'm considering a cute baby from the NW. He would be going to Iowa right off of rt 80. Any reco's on a very reasonably priced shipper that accomodates a baby well? I am a little worried to ship one so young - so far.
thanks,
JER

I've used Bob Hubbard (http://www.bobhubbardhorsetrans.com/) many times with good results. They have a PNW base in Enumclaw, WA.
I've shipped young horses (weanling and up) but always in box stalls and the Hubbard drivers know the routine well. They ship a lot of TB racing youngsters. I also used Hubbard to ship my 31 year-old QH who is an unrepentent rogue despite his age -- they were very accommodating of all my special instructions for him.

I second Bob Hubbard. I've used him several times. One of my clients is using him to ship their weanling that I bred to Texas (from California) next week. They are great about communication, and I've always had horses arrive in excellent shape.

thanks. Does anyone have an idea of what I should plan to spend? It's exactly in the middle of the coast to coast trip.

I used Craig Sappington (C&E Horse Transportation) to ship a yearling I bought from Blacksburg, VA to Chicago, IL and he was fabulous. The yearling had never loaded and he had her on in no time and came off without a scratch. I had him take her back to VA this past spring as a 3 y.o. to go into training and he did a fabulous job once again. He answers the phone when you call, texts updates and even texts pics of the horse after loading, etc. His customer service is the best and prices for box stalls are good.

I used Bob Hubbard this spring to ship my mare. Communication was infrequent and frustrating for me, but my mare arrived safely and happily which was the most important part!
I had my girl shipped about 550 miles and I think it ended up around $600

We have used Hubbard in the past. For the last several years, we have been using American Horse Transport out of Enumclaw. Very pleased with their service. They ship every 10 days or so to KY. And the drivers are horse people.
Good luck with your shipping.
