The highlight of my year has been the success of my customers. After we finally realized we were here to stay (since we only moved here 4 years ago for my husband to go to law school) I actually advertised my business and have had so.much.fun with my great group of customers showing, riding, and goofing off during down time. I work hard but I know every day how lucky I am to do what I love most every day and get paid for it- but having people that make it fun is definitely the icing on the cake. Having people consistently winning this year has (in my opinion) shown me that my system works and I'm proud of my business. I've (and it has) come a long way, baby!

My goals for 2010 are.. well, to keep on keepin on, to continue to make my customers happy, to continue taking lessons from other professionals around here, and to ride better and teach and work harder and better this year. I'm happy with my program but there will always be room to step it up. :)

Away from the horse thing, my first and foremost goal the first part of this year is to SELL OUR HOUSE! The 2nd part is to buy something else! :D

Best of 2009:
--I was the one on my horse for his first ride at the new farm, first jump, first trail, first buck :D, all the good stuff.
--The old Crosby fits him almost like a custom (!!!)
--My horse LOVES water and is very reliable on trails, even though he's still kind of a baby. And I am not really that brave of a rider and even more of a chicken in the open.

Goals for 2010:
--Ride in the snow. Just once.
--Have my boy consistently going long and low in the indoor. He's good in the bigger outdoor, but small indoor is a little tough.
--Possibly get him out to his first show.

Resolution for 2010:
--Figure out how to fit regular lessons in, even if it's just tagging along on a walk trot lesson.
--Get more comfortable riding in the open. I have the horse for it.

My highlight: Showing Sam in our first over fences class... and winning it. Okay, it was crossrails, and it was a schooling show, but the ribbon doesn't say any of that. d; Overall, it was great starting to jump with him and seeing how much he developed and how grown-up he looks now.

My goals for 2010: Get better at jumping so I can be better for Sam as he continues to learn. Show again over fences--and again, crossrails count. d; Stop looking down to check if he's on the correct lead.

Best of 2009:
-Going to Ecuador to compete and winning the team competition :)
-Moving up to the high junior/amateur-owner jumpers with my ex-junior hunter

Goals for 2010:
-Go to Devon and Indoors for the high ammies. I've never gone to Devon, Harrisburg, or Washington, and I really want to go!
-Do some of the smaller national standard classes this summer.

Best of 2009:
- The feeling my mare gave me when we finally jumped a 1.10 track and she was with me all the way.
- Realizing that my gelding is now a mature horse and is generous enough to forgive my mistakes and keep trying for me.

Goals for 2010:
- Jump double clear at Newcomers (1.10-1.20m) with both horses.
- Move into Foxhunter (1.20-1.30m) classes and be competitive in them by the end of the year.
- Get both horses to lessons regularly and jump them once a week.
