My 5 year old just had arthroscopy today for a stifle injury. Findings were a medial meniscal tear that he was able to clean up nicely , and a mild shift in the position of the meniscus. The ACL and other ligaments were fine , as was the cartilage. He stated the cartilage was "pristine". Now we are starting a 4 to 6 month stall rest and rehab program.... The surgeon wasn't sure stem cell would be helpful but since it is covered in his insurance policy we are going to try it....
Any one have any similar experience ? I am told that he has a > 60 % chance of return to full athletic capability, maybe more because the joint itself is still in great shape, no arthritic changes at all.
I'm hoping for the best !
