Hit the horses with ivermectin 6 weeks ago. Three of the four are doing great-#4 was missed last worming, as she was healing from a PLTI and I did not want to add any more chemicals too her. Sidenote: I would not say that any of them have ever actually looked "wormy".

Anyway, #4 is looking wormy now. Ideally, I would think Fecal & PowerPac-but her owners pocket is really light right now after dealing with all of the PLTI vet bills.

Ivermectin? Ivermectin Gold?

Suggestions?

When was the last tapeworm dosing? If it's been a while, then in 2 more weeks I'd do Equimax (I'll never use Zimecterin Gold, too much of a risk of causing contact ulcers, Merial even acknowledges it).

But, the difference in cost between a PP and Equimax isn't HUGE, so if the horse has been treated for tapeworms in the last few months, I'd do that instead.

If there are other horses who need a PP soon, you can do the liquid Safeguard (labeled for goats or cattle, as long as it's 10% fenbendazole) and on a per-horse basis that saves about $10 for the "power pack". For 1 horse it only saves a few $$ and you'll likely have some left over.

While they aren't perfect, Fecals can help show you what you need to address. They aren't usually expensive (paid $15.00 for my new horse to have one a few weeks ago), and I had the results back within 2 days.

Also...describe "looks wormy". Dull coat, ribs showing?....Can you describe the appearance a bit better just so we can get some idea of what you are noticing?
