My 11 year old daughter has goals/ dreams of competing on the A level. She has done some rated shows last year in short stirrup and has a decent medium pony (is eligible green). I have been around horses and shows most of my life but am not so up to date on the logical steps for divisions when a rider is young and wants to focus on equitation primarily. We live in VT near the NH and MA borders and not a bad commute from CT. I would like to find a high level training barn with maybe a summer/ camp program or something not too far to commute to. Any advice from others who have been through this would be much appreciated. Thanks!!

Holly Hill in Massachusetts isn't far from there and they're very competitive on the A circuit. I'm pretty sure they run a camp in the summer too Most of their barn goes to Florida in the winter though, if thats what you guys are looking for...Check them out!

Esterbrook Farm in Acton, MA does the A circuit as well as local shows and has a bunch of pony kids that do the children's and regular pony divisions as well as upper level 3'6" eq kids. very good atmosphere and plenty of opportunity to help out and learn around the barn :)

How far away are you willing to travel? Several of the suggestions here are probably at least a couple of hours away from you, if not more depending on where in southern VT you are.

Stoneleigh-Burnham School is probably the closest to you; they have a community program and great trainers. I would be surprised if they didnt have something in the summer.....

I am in North Central MA so feel free to PM me re more in this area
