Bought some new "cheese grater" stirrup pads this week and my friend who works at Beval in NC told me to bang 'em in with a hammer. I tried that but they keep popping up! What's a girl to do? Thanks!

put them over the stirrups and sit down putting the stirrup on your foot while you are holding the leathers. make sure that the bottom have clicked in.
this should work

If you can get the pads onto the stirrups, put on a fence of something similar and hammer down the edges so they are flat to the bottom of your stirrup. If you don't they make a noise that upsets many horses.
When my pads would not go on the stirrups, I used a hoof pick to pry them open a bit more and then used the hammer to lock them into place.
Hope that helps.

I bought a pair of cheese grater pads a few years ago and could not get them into my stirrups no matter what I tried. We eventually figured out the stirrup pads were 4 3/4", which were larger than my stirrups. It may be something you want to consider. I know how irritating it is, believe me.

When I got mine I put them into my irons & then used a plyers to "tighten" them, by grabbing the top & bottom from the outside (hope that makes sense)

You might have to bend in the "wings" to get them into the stirrup, and use pliers to then bend the wings around your stirrup.
