UGH! I'm really interested to know what experience you may have had with rehabilitation after a P-2 fracture? We've made it through the worst--with 2 rods through the cannon bone to take the weight off the P-2 for about a month, but can we ever expect this mare to do anything except raise babies?
She was in training, and just took a bad step while lounging. I've heard a few stories about horses coming back to have show careers after this injury, but of course most never make it. The break was in 3 places--too complex for plates and screws, which meant we had to go the rods route.
Thank goodness for Purdue University!!! They have been absolutely amazing, and so diligent in her care. I can't say enough good things about them!
