Hey Everyone,

Has anyone shipped a horse with Equestrian Express LLC (different from Equine Express)? They are out of Raleigh, NC and their website is horsetransit.com

Or has anyone shipped with Wings Horse transport? They're out of San Diego, CA an they're website it http://www.wingshorsetransport.com

TIA!

I have used Equestrian Express several times, the owner is Tim Grant. They are FANTASTIC and SO reasonably priced. I really would not use anyone else after using them. They were long trips too, from NC to PA and PA to SC. Horses looked great at destinations and the trailer is nice, really nice! My suggestion would be to call instead of e-mailing. Seems the e-mails don't get answered very quickly, but all you have to do is call and they always either answer or get back to you in a very short time.

I used Wings to have my new Thoroughbred transported from New York to Colorado last year. They were cheap(er) and had a load haeding this way when I needed it. Big 8 horse slant load and they will do pick up and drop offs on the way, so not the most direct route (but again, half the price of some of the other shippers).
My horse arrived happy and healthy after 5 days on the trailer. I checked other horses on the load and they seemed to be doing fine and all had water.
They were good at keeping me informed along the way (I called them daily.)
So again, not one of the big fancy private stalls haulers, but I was happy with them.

Tim Grant can trailer my horses anytime. He is very professional and just an all around nice guy.

If it's the same one, Wings brought my guy from Texarkansas, AK to Maine ten years ago. (!)

He was fit on a trip already planned.

They had no issues with him being a stallion. (even though his manners are impeccable!) The trip took 5 days total because of pickups/dropoffs etc., but if I'm remembering right, he overnighted for a night or two somewhere along the way.

He arrived calm, hydrated and perky. He'd lost weight, which is normal for such a long haul, but was not stressed, despite it being his first trailer ride. He jumped right on my trailer without a hesitation. Communication was excellent, and that was *just* getting into the days of emails and cells, really. (not as simple to roam and get signals as it is now.)

I've used Wings 4-5 times, Oregon to Arizona, Arizona back to Oregon, 2 trips to southern CA and one back--and I think they're the ones that hauled a horse to Texas as well. 8 horse trailer, typical slant load, horses were all calm, lots of shavings on the floor and obviously kept well cleaned out. Super nice guy--although he'll talk your ear off! :) Can't beat the price--he's a professional long haul driver as well as an excellent horseman.

Thanks for information everyone. Picking a transportation company is a little daunting with the amount of them out there!
