Actually, they used to be made in Ireland, but the two Rambos that I bought last year say "made in China" on the tag.
Saratoga Horseworks products are made in the USA. Unfortunately, their cuts don't fit my draft crosses in the chest.

Horseware used to have 3 factories up and running 24/7 in Ireland but have moved 2 to China. Whats made in Irealnd I believe is mostly clothing not rugs.
Was at the store in Dundalk in October, not the great deals of 10 years ago on factory seconds.
With 25% unemployment in Ireland to bad Horseware outsourced the rugs and prices keep escalating.

My Rambos bought this year were made in Ireland. The Rhinos and Amigos btw, are assembled in North Carolina. I have talked to the plant up there. The fabrics may come from China, but the assembly is in NC. And the distribution point for the Rambos.
But my weatherbeeta takas were made in China and they are well made. I'm not anti-Chinese, and when I switched from foreign (not Chinese) sports cars years ago to Cherokees, I found that they were made in America all right, in Mexico, glass and all. So if a product is made in China but is well made, buy it if you cannot find one made in the USA. (My horse was made in Germany, like the good sports cars., but my mare was made in Kentucky, where the great TBs are made.)

With all the problems China made products seem to have with toxic chemicals seeping out of products, having the material made in China is the worst case scenerio. Aren't people now pulling out sheetrock that was made in China because it's making people sick. I never thought about it before but I'll be looking for blankets made in Ireland or the US.

Blame the companies that are outsourcing & trying to keep costs down. The most beautifully made clothes I have are from China (tailored by hand; I finally lucked out & found a tailor in the US who is almost as good) & so is the best fabric I have ever laid my hands on. Even my plain black cotton is gorgeous to look at & touch. However, I was willing to pay a premium for high quality work, which many American consumers are not. :)

Ah but the US manufacturers have chosen to go with slave labor rather than paying good wages to US workers. Not China's fault for taking advantage of it. The pollution that the USA spewed into the air and water was carefully documented by Ralph Nader back in the day. Now we complain that China is doing what the USA did for years. But I do buy blankets made in Ireland. Bought one this summer. It's a Rambo, just like the Rambos I bought in 2001, also made in Ireland.

I wonder how many of these turnouts that are made in Ireland/US/etc. are made of *materials* manufactured in that country.
I bet we'd all be hard-pressed to find a blanket on that market that is 100% made and manufactured, from beginning to end, in a single country.

Just because something says it's made in the US doesn't mean it's made in America. There are US territories where many products for the American market are made on Pacific Ocean island chains. What happens to the people living there is despicable, especially women. This is how Walmart and other companies gets to have "Made in US" on its clothes and other products.

I have no idea if horse blankets are made in a US territory. Just thought those who think seeing that "Made in US" tag is a good thing should be educated.

It's the california turnout. You can order them from murphyhorsefarm@bellsouth.net.
she is in NC and goes up to the plant (where the Rhinos and Amigos are assembled or whatever they do to them there...........) and buys them.
She can also tell you when things are on sale, and of course the pricing.
The plant closed the outlet store, rats, before someone on another thread told me about it. There was an old thread on where to buy Rambos.
Now our Rambo fly masks say "made in china" and they too come from the factory (thru Susan at murphyhorsefarm) and they have held up well.
As a poster said, just about everything has something from China in it. In fact, lots of fabrics and materials are shipped from the USA to China to have the slave labor wages workers construct them. (I live in a port city and the container ships all are full of Chinese imports and exports.) We cannot solve all the world's problems, but it is good that people do point out what other countries do to violate peoples' rights and to pollute the world, but remember the USA was first and foremost the biggest polluter around for many years.
"Made in America" is a misnomer.

Having just had to close down our family business which provided industrial sewing equipment to manufacturers I have negative thoughts. But we do have to remember not to blame it completely on the evil manufacturing companies, people demand less expensive products and they simply cannot be made so cheaply here. It is all interwoven. Of course, most of the machines we sold were not made in USA. They pretty much stopped being made here, I believe there is one company making specialty machines. We sure don't make many products in USA anymore and manufacturing was a good source for decent jobs. I try hard to buy products made in USA. I do believe Irideon is made in the Northwest so that is my new favorite equine clothing! AT one point I believe COTH had a thread on equine related clothing and equipment made in USA.

Wow, I just took Cloudy's off after it was on him 3 days and 2 nights (lots of cold rain here) and he's snow white, well he was when I took it off, he'll not be after he takes a nap.
Send it back, something is amiss. You didn't put it in the dryer did you? (Won't change the "made in china" tag but it does affect the blanket.)
Rambos aren't cheap. So we aren't demanding cheaper products. My friends pressured me into giving up foreign sports cars and "buying american" and even the glass on my american cherokees was "made in Mexico." And they weren't cheap either. My Ford truck doesn't say where the glass is made.
OP, I shall call the plant up in NC this week and find out why Canadians are being discriminated against. Maybe it's the moose?
A lot of the big sewing mills in NC and SC have been closed due to competition of cheaper manufacturing costs in China.

I bought it brand new, put it on my horse.. she got hives and there was a light residue left on her coat. I have since washed it in Rambo blanket wash twice and put it back on her and the hives are gone (and no more residue).
I wasn't pleased as I paid over $400cdn I believe for the blanket & neck attachment.
I was looking at the Horseware Ireland website today and it seems that the "buy now" option is gone.

If your Jeep is from the Toluca (sp?) plant in Mexico be happy....that is a very good plant. I am a Jeep freak and all of mine have been made in Toledo Ohio....what year is yours? A Grand or an old style Cherokee? FWIW my German car had final assembly in Brazil.
As far as horse blankets go....my newer Rhinos all say made in China. Bucas can still be found made in Ireland but you have to look (for those in Ontario try Richvales) as majority are made in China. My beloved Thermatex is made in the UK.
Can we start a thread that lists all things horsey that are not made in China, India....?
I wear Irideon and FITs britches because they are made in the USA (and they are awesome too). Are Taylored Sportsman still made in the US?
My biggest issue with this whole thing is when a "premium" brand moves production to China and quality suffers yet the premium price tag stays the same. WTF?

From what I have seen...yes. They seem to be cut wider through the shoulder which is were I always have problems with my guys.
eta...oops, hit the button too soon!
I don't have one, but I have tried my friends and for my wide shouldered QH and TB they fit lovely. The Saratoga heavy weight winter turn out fit the TB better than his Rambo Wug. They are similar in price so my next blankets will be Saratoga's.

Yes, I started a thread in Off Course a year or so ago. Since them I have tried to buy everything I buy made in the USA, or at least USA/Canada/Europe.
It actually makes shopping more fun, and more mindful. Do I really need this? Who is making it? Who is benefiting?
I recently discovered my beloved Champion brushes are Made in the USA :) Wilkers pads are too. Much of the horse stuff I buy Made in the USA isn't any more expensive than the stuff from China! I mean, look at the $$$ Ariat spends on marketing!

My last 2 cherokees were the 5.2 and 5.9 liter grands. Nice but couldn't pull a trailer. But I had 5 of them and most of their parts were made in Mexico!!
Yes I agree, when we pay big bucks for good products, we want them "made" somewhere good.........except I once bought an expensive Ralph Lauren sweater with a brown horsehead on it, and found out later that old Ralphie, who used to be a tie salesman back in the day when he came to Atlanta, paid women in UK $35 per sweater to hand knit my sweater! So it's all relative I guess.
The weatherbeetas I bought Cloudy and Callie in 2005 are still around and not having any problems except they are too hot. I buried Callie in their 2 2001 Rambowugplus blankets, so Cloudy got the Calif. turnout and neck rug on sale this year and it's just fine. I did ask if it was made in Ireland still before I bought it.
You should see the containers come up the Savannah River, loaded with Chinese products, and the exports the same way, taking materials to China to be assembled. But it was that way with Japan back in the day.
We should support our own craftsmen when they make good products, but a lot of good things are made in europe, and I've bought them for myself and for horses, German and French saddles and bridles.
My tropical riders full deerskin seat tights used to use malden mills fabrics, the guy in Mass. who when his mill burned, kept paying his workers, but he later lost business to China, and my latest tropical riders don't have malden mills fabric. I assume the deer are still killed here, but I think the fabric is Chinese. Malden Mills was an example of how good some products made in the USA can be, but it lost out to Chinese cheap labor. Maybe someone from Mass. can tell us if it is still around? I used to always buy MM products for the feel, so soft, and for the reason that the owner was a man of integrity.

As long as consumers want cheap/affordable (take your pick) and manufacturers want to turn a profit, more and more stuff will be made on the cheap. Fleeceworks pads are Chinese, Vespucci bridles are made in India (God forbid that someone forgets to take that tag off before it goes on the shelf!).
