Ok I have two foundered horses (long story really bad pet sitter) Paso Fino gelding and an ASB mare. They have been doing better lately but here in No CA it has been really cold high 37 low 20 and I still have snow on the ground from the last storm (very unusual). Expecting cold rain for 3 days starting Thursday evening so today I took all the horses out of the barn and let them roam around so I could strip stalls. Well my two foundered kids decided that this was fun and gaited and trotted around most of the day. Now I haven't seen them do this for quite sometime. When I went to catch them they both took off; came when they heard me feeding. Has anyone else have foundered/lame horses do well in the cold???

Cold does not make my "foundered" worse actually they act like they feel better - it is the frozen ground that makes life tough for them.
