Having done my first post I thought I ought to introduce myself.:D I have put it in breeding as that is my main interest, although my daughter dressages and does a bit of eventing. I have been breeding for 22 years and have been lucky enought to breed some advanced eventers, a grade A showjumper and Advanced dressage horse. I say lucky because I now know that getting the foal on the floor is the easy bit.( and that is not that easy at times) To then raise it break it and produce take a lot of time effort and tears, often just for a moments glory but usually just to be able to tuck them up safely at night! My best known horse is probably Weston Justice, although his mum did win a silver medal at the Junior European eventing champs. Our website is www.westonstud.co.uk
So hi and any useful advice I can give I will happily and I will look forward to picking your brains as well!

Hello from Georgia (USA)! I don't breed anymore but the interests of breeders are near and dear to my heart. Sounds like you have a great breeding program!

You're not too far away from me. :D I'm in Yorkshire.

These forums are super fun, and the folks who post here know tons.

Your horses are lovely!

Hello from an ex Brit now residing in the US. We started breeding WBs approx 14 years ago and then in 1999 expanded our program to include sport ponies with the foundation in the New Forest Pony breed. Welcome :-)

Westonmaestro and Kookiecat, you're BOTH close to me - well, compared to U.S. distances anyway <lol>. I'm in Thundridge nr Ware until Saturday. Came over for Xmas as it was the only way I was going to get to see hubby it seemed. We'll be back to England the end of February to hold a DEFRA certified three day short courses in Gloucester at Hartpury College so that will be fun <smile>. I've been over here enough this year that I'm actually getting used to the weather here :D! But, considering we had record breaking snowfall in Oklahoma while I was gone, maybe it's not so bad! Welcome to the boards, Westonmaestro. Lots of really fun and knowledgeable people here.

Hello and welcome from Texas. :) I'm not a breeder (except for the two youngsters I bred for myself), just interested in breeding.

I usually get over to London on business several times a year, but I never get the chance to go outside the city and visit the horse yards or farms. The closest I get to a horse is whatever I can see from the train or car to and from Heathrow or Gatwick.

Well, in London last week, you would have needed ice skates - snowshoes would have been useless :P <lol>. NOT fun. No trains, no subway, buses, no taxis. Talk about coming to a grinding halt! Ended up having to stay with friends in London as there just was no way out of the city.

I have to say, kooki...I LOVE Yorkshire <smile>. So far, it's been my favorite place to visit. Happy New Year, btw <smile>.

Just to say if anyone finds themselves in Leicestershire come and see us we love visitors and in the middle of the country there is plenty to see. Quite a few studs around us so could have a foal fest!

That sounds about right! ;)

Yorkshire is fantastic- I just love it too! I wasn't born in Yorkshire, but further north in Durham. I moved to Yorkshire at sixteen. It just feels like home to me. :)
