Okay...Reg Corkum has given me some photos of the boys at the testing that he has taken over the last few days. If you want additional information on the testing and the stallions, you can go to Silver Creek Farm's web page at: http://www.silvercreekfarms.com/
So, here we go <smile> - I have to do this in several uploads, so bear with me.
Left to right is: Ahmour, Aloha, Baron Van Gogh, Cielo B, Delacroix

I'm assuming Ahmour is the Arab? If so, not bad!!!
How old is Baron Van Gough? There's Edgar's next super grey jumping stallion! ;)
Good luck to all the owners, the boys look fabulous

Yes. Reg and I argued about which photo to use. He wanted to use a conformation photo - which is also VERY nice - but this one was just soooooo fun, that I beat him into submission and got my own way...:D!

Silver Creek has done an absolutely spectacular job. Not an easy task, for sure. But the boys really, really look great.

There are plenty of people in the arabian world who want to do this, however cost and distance are/can be really limiting factors. Compounding this is the market within the breed itself- will these horses receive more outside breedings because they are tested versus competing up through the levels and earning licensing via this route?

Tempichange, I do not know any that did get approved the performance route do you? TB's, Morgans and Arabians have participated over the years and I have only known TB's with a performance record outside of the test accepted for approval by sport horse registries.

(I just can't quite recall.......)
The Arab stallion Ahmour comes from solid performance lines -- of horses that are known as much for their trainability and willing natures as they are for their good looks and soundness! He is not a fluke -- just the first one whose owner committed to this process!

Reg here. Just a quick note to express some appreciation... a huge thanks to Kathy for suggesting me as this years test photographer... and also to the host farm Silver Creek (owners and staff....very nice people and a great facility) and in particular to test director Harald Hoffman (who has been very helpful to getting the best photo results possible by enabling me to be in the middle of it all,and well postioned to get the best bennefit in light and angle). I wish all the stallion owners the very best of luck in the finale. Your horses are all most impressive. I have very much enjoyed getting to meet each and every one of them. Thank you all very much. I feel very priviledged to be here.

I still have a question. See my posting above.
Edgar
Dec. 8, 2009, 12:52 PM
He is doing quite well jumping the same fences but there is no requirement as far as what a stallion has to jump. Most stallions in this test are dressage horses and and may never jump a fence after this test so it would not be fair or safe to push them the same as a horse bred for jumping. They pretty much go over a 3.6 course and some fences got raised for the ones that could meet the challenge. The cross country is also pretty basic and not too high, the free jumping also gets adjusted to ability. They have been working their way up for months to get to this point and some made more improvement than others just like some are awesome movers and will excel in dressage and ridability.

I still have a question. See my posting above.
This ISN'T Reg :D. I've gotten my computer back <lol>. With regards to your question, Sally, the criteria for each individual stallion and how many mares they will be permitted to breed is up to the different registries they are approved with. The testing is completely separate from that and merely tests the stallions' performance.
And, as for more pictures, since there was no specifics as to what you want, I'm taking artistic license <big happy smile>! So, here's your holiday photo to enjoy! Sorry it doesn't have Reg's pizazz...

I thought Al Mariah Quebec was approved via performance for the ATA book. I know Aul Magic is approved, but don't know if he was specifically tested or approved via performance. Ta'ez is approved performance.

Those that mentioned Taez & OKW Entrigue as being approved Oldenburg NA via performance are correct. Aul Magic is ATA approved only as he retired before achieving any FEI scores.
Taez retired from performance last year after winning National Ch. Grand Prix at the Arabian Sport Horse Nationals and is no longer standing to the public. His owner Carol, has some lovely HA/Oldenburg foals by him :). OKW Entrigue is still competing and breeding. A PB colt by him was approved and branded Old/NA earlier this year at a Nor Cal inspection, he also has a few HA/Old babies that have done quite well at the inspections too.
The Arabian at the testing is from a wonderful line of sport horse Arabians. His sire has produced some very nice ones. Great to see that his owner believes in him enough to take him to the testing. Hopefully more Arabian breeders will see this and follow his lead.

I checked with Reg to make sure he doesn't mind and he was cool with it, so....
I have posted the photos I took on Cross Country day . I was at different vantage point than Reg and got a lot of galloping shots as well as some of the jumps he couldn't reach.
I wasn't there to shoot and just did it for fun. As you know, the day was very dreary and it was very hard to get good sharp shots - especially of the darker horses. But these I'm posting might be good for the stallion owners' websites.
Here is the link to the VERY LOW resolution versions of the shots. You can click on a thumbnail to see a larger version, but still very low res. The high res versions are decent and could be blown up to about 5x7, but not much larger without becoming very "soft". For websites, they'd be good.
Let the stallion owners know that if they'd like the high res version of any of these, all they need do is email me and I'll send them on by email (or snail mail if they don't have high speed internet to handle large files). They may, of course, right click to save these low res versions, but why do that when you can get a clearer, better version for free just by contacting me???
