Since these websites are known for being slow to update....
1. What stallions are new to the program for 2010?
2. Due to the economy, are any stallion owners opting to drop their nomination for the 2010 breeding season?
3. Stallion Owners whose boys are "veterans" of these program, please feel free to chime in and let us know that you are still in the game for 2010 :)
I am hoping this thread will help mare owners that are interested in either or both of these 2 wonderful programs & are starting to shop to stallion options.

Cabalito will be IHF nominated for 2010.
I have participated in the IHF for 8 years now with the babies but never with a stallion. I feel it has really helped generate interest in sales horses. Those that we have shown have done well and it has helped promote my babies and my breeding program.

Rubs, that's great! Cabalito is a lovely stallion. Looking forward to seeing some of his kids at the IHF in the future :)
Anyone know about Jones Hall? I know he was sold to Glenhill by Pamela Hunt and he is now residing in CA. He's been a veteran in the IHF program and his offspring have brought home their fair share of the checks over the years. Will he continue to participate in the program under new ownership?

Also, who is nominating stallions for the HDIF being started by USHJA? Curious as to whether this is getting interest.

At this point the HDIF program is too unknown, IHF is established and has a track record. Besides, I am not too sure about the specifications for the classes. I am not looking for my stallion to produce four year olds without lead changes that can't canter down a line and I do not want to be judged against that either. If I wanted to do hunter hack classes, I would be into the quarter horses. Now, if paying stud fee mare owners come to me and express interest, I will consider it. For my own horses, I am not sure that this program is what I am looking for. At this point if I am going to add anything, it would be IJF. The bottom line, is that IHF obviously isn't for everyone. I know many people who really don't have access to a quality traner, who works with babies. This is a huge issue, some people just can't prepare them. I will reserve any more judgement until I actually see the program implemented.

Although reading this board causes one to think that there are many trainers without horses to train, many people agree that there is too much of a disconnect between breeders producing babies and trainers working with babies as a next step of a systematic preparation for these babies sport careers.. Sadly many good trainers that are competitive in upper levels of sport are overwhelmed with the fully trained competitive horses and fulfilling obligations for sponsors (i am not saying this is a bad thing). They have to generate money to feed the younger horses. Trainers working with babies in a continuous training scheme between starting and 5 year old years are not very common. This is why the IJF is a great idea as it creates incentive for good trainers to work with 5-6 year olds. High quality trainers in this country especially for jumpers are often of the belief that a good talented horse is trained not born that way. ymmv
This is exactly what we specialize in. This niche of starting quality young horses, from weanlings on. So far, they have all been hunters, but the starting is the same for both.

Wow ~ I did not know there was that strong a need for trainers for the young ones.
I feel lucky to have a friend that does a wonderful job backing my youngsters. I do the ground work & she does the riding. And that works really well for me , the horses, & the trainer.

I will be nominating my young stallion Legaczy (Alla'Czar ~ Buntspecht de Lauzelle) to IHF for 2010.
Just The Best and More Than Luck will continue with their participation in the IHF and IJF.
They will also be in the HDIF. All of their foals up to 4 year olds in 2010 will be eligible for the HDIF.
It is a new program and some people will take a "wait and see" position. That is normal with any new program. Best of Luck was a Charter Stallion with the IHF and the IJF and I was a Founder of the IJF. That is my way of supporting programs that I believe in and proof of my confidence in my stallions. And it is part of my responsibility to my mare owners to make their foals eligible for the programs that will help promote and reward the success of the foals and breeders.

Don't forget that the International Dressage Futurity is part of the IJF as well. While it's not as well publicized as the IJF, we've been very happy with the program. We will continue to nominate Riverman, Contucci, and Royal Prince to these programs (obviously their offspring point towards divisions :)) and are adding Bugatti this year.

Does anyone has a list of the principle owners of these various futurities? I am always curious as to who gets the income from all these things. Shouldn't their identity and board be recorded somewhere. Any financial statements?

Jones Hall will definitely continue to particpate in the IHF.

They aren't operating as charities so why would you need access to their financials?
The board of directors is listed on the IHF website.

I am glad to see Jones Hall continue to be a part of the IHF. He has had numerous winners over the years (and I think was the sire of the horse who won the most money in the program, her name is escaping me). I personally love the fact that a thoroughbred has been so successful. It gives us a good outcross for people who want to participate in the program but have heavier mares. He is a very nice stallion.

I don't really know anything about the IHF, I owned a hunter stallion in Canada, do you think I should put him in?.
Thank you.

Thanks, Lisa!! That was "Sands Of Time"...She has gone on to be a wonderful mom. I am so glad that Glenhill Farm (Jones Hall's new home) seems to appreciate what a wonderful stallion they have. We were sure proud to have had him for 14 years. Good luck with your stellar boy!

I'm so excited that Glenhill Farm has Jones Hall, he is a stunning stallion in person. I'm also thrilled that Sands of Time will be joining the Gray Fox Farm broodmare band thanks to the Hunts.
Redwine, Romantic Star, Federalist and Aloha will be nominated for the IHF and I'm also going to do Tish's futurity with them.

but.... Willemoes DVE is nominated for the IHF, IJF & HDIF for 2010. Check him out at : [www.hilcatfarm.com]
This handsome boy is really adding some interesting and talented old proven jumper blood into the hunter and hunter breeding rings. Really impressed by his hunter type foals seen so far.....really stamps his foals with his good looks, great jump and quiet minds. Keep your eyes peeled and watch for them :)
Who else will be new for these programs in 2010???

Apiro has been nominated to IHF for 2010.
We are supporting the HDIF. I think it looks to be a great program in the making. :) I just posted about the nomination deadline.

Valentino Z is nominated this year to the IJF as are Cielo and Deja Blue (as always). Waiting a bit before deciding about the IHF for Valentino Z and Figaro.
