Posting for my sister, who lives in Holly Springs, NC (southwest of Raleigh). Serious inquiries can be sent to me via PM or to my COTH screen name + at yahoo dot com, and I will forward anything promising to my sister.
Gus is a one year-old, 65# Flat Coated Retriever Mix, black with white chest markings. He is UTD on shots, neutered, and*is on heartworm prevention. He is well housetrained and is fostering without problems in a home with four cats and one female dog. He loves water. He knows "sit", "no", "come", and is working on "give" (dropping or giving toys to be thrown again, etc.)
Gus was a roadside dump-off in our suburban neighborhood. We did the requisite "found" posters, reported Gus to the local animal shelters, posted him on Craigslist, etc. We have no takers after a month, so he's ready for a new home.
To be frank, we are too lazy to keep up with Gus. He needs to live with someone who will be very active with him, preferably in a home with other dogs. Our female dog loves to play, but Gus has more "play" in him than she can keep up with. He gets bored easily so he would benefit from having "smart" dog toys and lots of chew toys. He doesn't de-fluff toys; he is more interested in tug. He has no food or toy aggression and while he doesn't mind riding in the car, he's not a "car junkie" like some dogs are. He's a sweet guy and loves to cuddle--in fact while I was trying to type this ad, he rested his face on my laptop keyboard and crashed my browser. :)
Gus is not in danger and will stay with us until he finds "his people." Serious inquiries can be sent to jn4jenny via PM or to jn4jenny at yahoo dot com. I will forward anything promising to my sister in NC.
