Has anybody had experiance with either of these supplements? What did you use it for, and did you see results?
My local feed store doesn't carry Omega Horseshine, but they have Sho-Glo, that seemed to be the most similiar thing.
I am more than willing to order the Omega Horsehine if it really is helpful :)

The Sho-Glo seems to be in the same price range as well.

It's just a general multi-vitamin. I used to use it for horses who weren't getting enough grain to get the required vitamins/minerals, but I have had better results with SmartVite. Specifically I have seen more and better hoof growth on the SmartVite.
Omega Horseshine and Sho-Glo are not comparable at all. OH is a flax supplement, and Sho-Glo contains no flax at all.

I know.. but my local feed store didn't have anything with flax, Sho-Glo is the closest things to the other ingrediants.
I will look into SmartVite :) I'm specifically thinking for a filly who has had a hard time.. it's a long story, but she's 4 1/2 months old now, and seems like she just needs a little 'boost'. She isn't as energetic as the other foals, nor does she look as good. She looks 'okay', but I think she needs something extra.

But that's the thing, OH and Sho-Glo might share some ingredients, but they are not in any way similar. OH has small amounts of some minerals added. Sho-Glo is nothing but minerals and vitamins, and not in small amounts. Just because it says "Glo" doesn't make it any kind of coat supplement.
I think identifying the cause of the unthriftiness is probably a better bet that potentially adding too much of certain minerals to her diet. Not everything gets excreted if you feed too much, and some of the minerals in Sho-Glo (like iron) can be toxic.

I use Sho-Glo on two geldings who get less than the recommended amount of grain. I have actually noticed my guy gleams like never before! I also like the fact Sho-Glo has some fat added so it works well for my two who tend to have special keeper needs.
I had to get away from the Smartvite due to flax... my guy just can't handle it in any amount! Otherwise, I loved Smartvite.

When I had several older (over 20 y.o.) horses I gave them Sho-Glo as a basic supplement along with their regular feed and hay, just in case they weren't getting all the necessary nutrients naturally due to their age. They all looked fantastic and I got so many compliments on them. I was very happy with the product. Haven't used the Omega Horseshine. I have used The Missing Link, however, and that is a nice product - especially with the added joint supplement (think it's called Missing Link Plus).

I use Omega Horseshine with all five here and we used it with Dumplin' as well.
ManySpots HS is 30% fat, much higher than sho-glo, I know many folks that have just added a bit more for the hard keepers and saw results.
For us we see a difference in the movement of our older horses, improvement to their hooves was very obvious, they look amazing with soft lofty winter coats, shiny manes and tails that comb out beautifully without conditioners, In the spring the bloom is just WOW! I swear you need sunglasses to look at Katie and she is a mule with hard hair
We also use it as a daily sand colic preventative.
I cannot say enough about HS, our horses never miss a day and only 4 ounces a day (and a sprinkle for the weenies) keeps them in top shape.

I've used Omega Horseshine and really liked it. I've been feeding www.platinumperformance.com since August and been really happy with it.
I do like the Manna Pro Products....have used their rice bran and was pleased. Never tried Sho Glo.

I started feeding HS this year and really love what it has done with my horses' feet and coats... My black stallion's coat (http://i58.photobucket.com/albums/g278/Copperleaf/CulpeperVAHA09.jpg) had a wet sheen look to it this year... he is typically pretty shiny, but the HS really boosted the "slick and shiny" factor. The ONLY complaint I have is that I got added sun fading protection and dapples when I fed BOSS (Black Oil Sunflower Seeds) but none with the HS...

I LOVE Sho-Glo! I did my own experiment with Sho-Glo and a expensive multi-vite.
There was a HUGE difference between the two. The Sho-Glo horses had much shinier coats and were in much better condition then the ones on the other vite.
Same feed, same hay for both groups.

I like OH to add bloom to the coat. I give it to my hard keeper TB and it might have helped with his weight as well. However, it really does give his coat extra shine. His winter coat is so soft and shiny. I get compliments on it all of the time.
I feed it because I wanted to add flax to my horse's diet but I keep him at a boarding barn and freshly ground flax tends to go rancid quickly. The OH is nice because I can store it without worrying about it going rancid.

2Horse-I had the exact same results in my little experiment! I couldn't believe how their coats looked in a very short time and my gelding is holding his wieght better. Definitely a good bargain! And I love the pelleted form it comes in....
