Tips for remembering faces?

Does anyone have any tips for remembering people's names and faces?

I have no trouble recalling horses but give me a someone I have worked with for 2 years at a Christmas party and I go completely blank. It is really embarrassing. I don't want to go to the party because I know I will need to introduce my spouse around, so I'll either look really dumb when I stumble on the names or really unfriendly when I sit in the corner.

Any tricks or tips would be greatly appreciated!

I call everybody "Honey" so they do not know. The rest of the time I just try and get someone else to make the introductions who knows I am bad with names. If your spouse knows you are bad with names, then let him leap in and introduce himself first and the other person will respond with their name.
