I'd call Zingerman's in Ann Arbor and see what they can do for you. If there's some amazing food anywhere in the world, they either already have it in stock or can get it for you. Or, if worst comes to worst, they can tell you where to get it. They pride themselves on customer service and will not do you wrong.

OMG, their BAGELS! I used to visit my friend in grad school out there and we would go directly from the airport to Zingermans.

Oh, btw, the best chocolates anywhere are Teuscher - if you can afford them. They are worth every Euro.

In line with Coreene's thread, I believe it would be more appropriate to say: Belgian chocolate. Belgium is the country. Belgian is the adjective to describe people or things that originate in the country of Belgium. :D:lol:

(Those pedants who are so inclined are invited to correct me if I'm wrong.)

Ooooooh, I miss living in Ann Arbor!

(Columbus, too! I lived there for seven years, AA for four)

For my money, Neuhaus is the best.

One of my grandmother's best friend owns Chocolate Canopy, a chocolate shop on Hilton Head Island off of South Carolina. He and his wife get their chocolate from Belgium and melt it down to make their chocolates. I've been in the back of the store many times, it is not mass produced by machines they do the hand-dipping themselves (or someone that works for them). Their chocolate is AMAZING. They ship all over for weddings and other special events, they even shipped it up here to the West coast of Canada for my friend's wedding this summer.

That's the place! I PROMISE you will not be disappointed. I've never had better chocolate and look forward to what he sends us a few times a year like for the holidays and stuff. And if you want something fun, their chocolate alligators are like their trademark piece since there are lots of alligators on the island. They have fun-colored candy googly eyes. When he shipped my friend's wedding chocolates (she used them as party favors and to decorate the table) I had him send her a big alligator for herself and she loved it.

You should definitely check it out. The store smells soooo amazing. And when they send us chocolate, I love opening the box and smelling the waft that comes out because it smells like the store and reminds me of our trips down there when I was little.

They are just different assortments. You can also customize a mix, although that might be more expensive. I just remember when I was little and he'd call I'd tell him like my 2 or 3 favorites (when I was little it was the marshmallow ones w/ dk chocolate and the peanut butter ones with milk chocolate, then I decided I liked the mint patties with dark and maple cream with milk when I got older lol) and he'd send me a box of each. I'm sure if you call and ask what's in each he'll gladly tell you and give you some other options too. Funny I didn't know they had a website, and I looked at the alligator page, and saw they had three different alligators. The biggest was Grand-dad and the smallest was Smiling, but the medium sized one was called George, which was my grandfather's name! So now I'm wondering if they named it after him so I called my grandmother and she's going to call them tomorrow and ask.

So ya just call and I'm sure he'll be able tell you anything you want to know about what they have.
