Our families live far far away.... so it's really just another day.
Anyone else? What will you be doing instead of being with friends and family?
Me, I'll ride horses and probably play a round of golf with mr TR, even though I'm no good at golf.

We wont be doing anything special. We'll have a late lunch at Cracker Barrel and that will be our big thing.
I hope to get some riding in and clean some tack and reorganize my tack trunk. My lease is up Monday and the Mare will be leaving Tuesday, so I really need to gather up all of her clothes, tack, etc and get them ready to go.
Other than that, not doing much of anything, which is just fine with me.

I'm having my "Thanksgiving meal" on Saturday as it's our clubs Christmas trip. On actual Thanksgiving it's just a normal day...going to a tutorial, hopefully finishing my essay, then it's my friends Birthday night out so there's a massive group of us going clubbing. Should be fun!

I'll be eating turkey, sleeping and praying this baby decides to show up on Thanksgiving like it's daddy did

Doing the family thing this year, but I used to bartend, and I always volunteered to work on holidays. Got great tips from people who were thrilled we were open, and fed up with their relatives

I usually visit family or they come here, but not this year - and I'm actually looking forward to it. There will be lounging about, movie watching, and wine consumption in my household, I imagine
I may go volunteer someplace though.

 whenever we eat at Mom's, DH, Sis and I generally end up at the local pub. Tomorrow will be NO exception.

Well, Im cooking the meal...but just for the SO and I. Both our families live far away, and while we've had friends invite us places, I've got the horsies who need to eat and be cleaned and he's working (he's a nurse...someone has got to do it on the holidays!)
I love to cook anyway, so it's an enjoyment for me. And he'll come home from work to a Turkey Day dinner. I'll get to watch the horses from the kitchen window while I cook away upstairs. Nothing better.
We did decide the other day going over the menu, however, that not either of us like the green bean dish. But both of us love the fried onions that come in a can that go on said dish. So we decided to make a tradition of skipping the beans and the soup, and just picking at the fried onions as an app. The decision came after a discussion about us both being adults and if that's what we wanted to do, we'd damn well do it. No Mom's or Gmom's to yell at us for eating them before they were used for their intended purpose.
Happy Thanksgiving everyone! Hope you all have a great day, even if you are doing non-traditional things!

I'm dog sitting through Sunday morning. I also have a cold. I don't feel like cooking in a strange kitchen, so I'm having the most meager meal ever: wild rice soup with turkey.
I also have a loaf of bread, some milky brie, olives and chianti for a meal or two, some leftover turkey soup & a package of butternut squash ravioli & alfredo sauce.
My son is having his first major holiday alone. He decided playing games was more important than grocery shopping, so he has some Lebanese leftovers until he walks to the nearest grocery store for the can of cranberry he's suddenly craving.
We'd both rather I was home making a bird with our favorite trimmings, but the doggie pays well!

I'm going to a friends house for Thanksgiving but I have not "celebrated" it in over 20 years. My mom died on Thanksgiving of 1987 and since then it sort of cast a shadow on the day. It's also three days before my birthday so its just this weird week of ups and downs. Since T-day floats around on the calendar some years its not on the anniversary of her death but this year it is. I try to sort of let it go but my best friend's mom is going to be there and they are close to the same age, just makes me wonder what she'd be like etc. Some years I don't do anything at all but those seem to go harder than the ones where I go out and be social.

My Thanksgiving was looking that way. I have to finish a project, so I can't go home like I normally do. I was planning on getting a frozen turkey dinner if all else failed. Luckily, a friend of mine invited me to celebrate with her family.
I was also thinking of volunteering. And still may, I don't know.

This is the first year I am not doing anything special for Thanksgiving. My parents have gone to Colorado. My brother and his wife are at her family's. My other brother lives in California so he is doing his own thing. My husband's parents were scheduled to come over for an early dinner (and I was going to cook, which is not normal in our household), but a friend of my father-in-law's passed away so they have gone out of town for his funeral. So, it was going to be me, my husband, and our son, but lo and behold, my husband is a police officer and has been called in to work that day (was supposed to be his day off). So, my son and I will be eating porcupine meatballs and mashed potatoes by ourselves (I am not going to the trouble of cooking a big holiday dinner for the two of us, so meatballs it is). I will also go out to the barn to visit Bella (my yearling who is getting over a cold).
Wishing everyone a safe and happy holiday!

My father was killed on Thanksgiving in a plane crash when I was 1 1/2 yrs old. It has never been a happy holiday in my memory. I will eat at my favorite restaurant by myself, and shovel poop. I might ride if the durned sun will ever come back out...lol

I'm sort of celebrating Turkey Day, but not really. When I was a kid my family made a big deal out of it because we would have it at my grandma's. She died when I was 14, and the big Thanksgiving never really came back. Which makes me very sad.
This year my SO and I are having dinner at his mom's, just the three of us. Then going to my mom and her husband's house. Even that will be kind of a bummer - they're packing the house up as it's going on the market next week. I grew up in that house, and I'm sad to think of another family living there. :( But happy that my mom may get the 5 acre farmette she's dreaming about.
I love the holidays, but they never feel quite right to me. It seems like every year we're celebrating a holiday minus another family member.
But I'm looking forward to the day off of work, and hopefully seeing my brother and his little boys at my mom's for awhile. :)

We are not doing anything special tomorrow but will have our Thanksgiving either Friday or Saturday, when my husband's son can join us.
Tomorrow we will watch the Aggie basketball team on TV in the afternoon then bundle up and head to the A&M-tu football game in the evening.
I will also try to get both horses ridden tomorrow. I have a clinic Friday/Saturday/Sunday and am looking forward to it!

We are going out to eat with my in-laws and my mom and her new boyfriend but quite honestly, I would rather be just lounging around the house and heading to the barn to ride and loving on my horse....

Taking time to stretch lazily in bed instead of the usual alarm clock drill..straightening house and then riding for a bit.
Having sandwich and salad.

That sounds nice!!! Although I will be lounging in bed in the morning without an alarm (although that never really works out, I always end up waking at the same time anyway)

My dad passed just after Thanksgiving last year so it is not my favorite day either. Was going to be spending it just curled up with a book and a cat but that might have ended up in a "pity party" so........
I'll be taking care of the barn where my horse lives. Owner is traveling with her mom to see family and since I can't travel to be with what is left of my family, I volunteered to take care of the furry ones. I actually enjoy taking care of them and the day is supposed to be really nice so I think it will be a really good way to spend the day.
Guess that doesn't quite qualify as not celebrating but I won't be dong the traditional turkey things.

I'll be working, since horses don't take a day off from being sick. I don't live within 2 states of any relatives - which I don't mind at all.
But luckily, a coworker's grandmother makes extra food for me and they bring it after they eat. Its nice to have some home cooking every now and then :)

I would love to skip it this year, but we have an elderly relative who is in very poor health, and she's expecting Thanksgiving dinner at our house. She has no other relatives in this country, so I will suck it up and cook. After that, I will spend some time loving on my horses.

Due to schedules, we are doing dinner on Sunday, so tomorrow it's a 'free' day! I'm going to ride my mare and my friend's gelding and cook the half-turkey I got and make simple favorite dishes, though I'll probably get too lazy to make lefse.
Gotta work Friday though, so will be making the most of a day off midweek!

By myself and the dogs, no horsies, listening to NPR/The Splendid Table.
We'll take a hike on the mesa when it warms up a bit. :)
