Shivaree has been with me for approx. 18 months. He's been very good to me. He earned his keep and did very well as a racehorse. I adore him and want to be sure he gets a great home.
About a week ago he raced, but did not "fire" like he normally does and finished 7th. The next day he was very sore and I had him xrayed to find he has a fractured sesamoid. The sooner he gets off the track the better this will mend. He is such a kind horse with a fantastic temperament.
I've ridden him at the farm with a halter and lead rope, as well as trail ridden him over bridges and through water in one of the state parks.
He is going to need 4 months stall rest in order to allow this to heal. He has tolerated his rest remarkably well, but every day doesn't understand why he isn't coming out to train. A couple of the jockeys that have ridden him have come by to give him treats as he is well known and loved by everyone. It upsets me that I can't keep him myself, but I have to remember I have a business to run and all I can do is find him the best home possible to offer him the chance to have a great life.

I will say he has a tendency to be a bit on the nervous side, but not with his person at his side. He is very attached to me, and would be attached to anyone that shows him love. He's very people oriented. He has been very brave and extremely honest under saddle. On the trails I've taken him on he has led and followed. I galloped him myself, and he's completely wonderful.

I simply adore him, and want him to have the best of the best.
