Has anyone used McAlister turnout blankets/sheets? Are they any good? Thanks.

We've had good luck with McAlisters and the price is certainly right. We have Rambo, Weatherbeeta and McAlisters here and the McAlisters have held up at about the same rate as the others. My only complaint is that they are shorter on the sides. It's fine on our slab sided OTTB but it doesn't work well on our round barreled Tb.

No, no, no.
I have a narrow TB and the sides were even too short for him. The length was not true to size, either. The velcro in the front literally starting coming off after 2-3 days. Lost it's waterproofness in about two weeks. Fabric on the inside was a hair magnet. Ugh I hated that blanket, only lasted ONE winter.

Let's just say you get what you pay for. I think I paid $40 for mine off ebay. I'd definitely either save up some more money or find a good, proven/trusted one on sale. There's plenty of REALLY nice blankets on sale right now.

I use a variety of blankets as we have so many horses. I've had some McAlisters for 2-3 years and no problems. I've also had a $300 Rambo get trashed in 3 days. So I'll continue to take my chances. For the price I can replace every year!

I got one to be a backup for someone else's horse (long story) so I wasn't going to spend $$. The fit wasn't so great, but I could have lived with it. My problem is the thing was never as waterproof as it should have been! No rips or tears, but the horse was soaked in the first rain. Now I have an extra stable sheet - which I have no need for.....
