Where everything goes black...
Okay, so with it getting dark when I leave work (sigh) and not really being light enough to even ride in the morning (I can't even get a run in and make it to work on time)... What is everyone doing about riding?
For the record, I have an outdoor ring only and no lights.
Any nifty tricks? Can I use my truck lights for 1/2 hour without draining the battery?
Somedays I go to work an hour early and leave an hour earlier and get in a quick 20 min ride before the lights go out on me... but it's not good enough! We've had the most beautiful fall weather available to us and I can't ride!!!!! BOOOOO.

I have the same problem. I sit at my desk at work and watch the lovely day pass me by. I'm just riding on weekends now. My horse is recovering from a torn meniscus (a year and a half ago) and he's to the point I need to be riding him to get his muscles built up. Just a simple walk and I can't get that in... I may just give him the winter off.

I hate the end of daylight savings time! :( I have taken to going into work at 6:00 am  so I can get off early enough to at least ride one horse. I am not a morning person so it is a huge sacrifice!
We did get some quartz lights to use in the outdoor. Luckily, there was a utility pole by the arena to hang them on. If your barn is near the ring, you could hang them on the outside of the barn too. They give you enough light to ride by.

I have an indoor - fortunately. But a friend does not. She is always invited over to use mine any time - but it is easier for her to ride at home. She went to Menards and bought solar spotlights and viola` she has a lighted out door ring for about $100 Just an idea - better than draining your truck battery! She attached them to 2 X 4's and ten attached the 2 x 4's to her fence posts so the light shines down. The lights do not turn off they are always on -only "down" side.

I have an indoor at my barn where I board, but it still drives me nuts as catching horses in the dark is not fun for me (I'm night blind). That and it is freezing cold here at night! Last night it was in the teens if even that and I absolutely froze even with my winter stuff on.
