Does anyone know wht Hichstead and Eric were No shows at the Royal?

They were in Doha (Qatar) for the Final Global Champions Tour.

Not exactly. Although they finished on top in the first leg, here is the commentary for the Final.

Then the double saw the competition end for Edwina Alexander(Isovlas Itot du Chateau), Ralf Goran Bengsston (Ninja Le Silla), Marco Kutscher (Cornet Obolensky) and Bernardo Alves (Chupa Chup). The combination proved the undoing of Robert Whitaker (Casino), Rodrigo Pessoa (Champ) Daniel Deussser (AD Aboyeur), Albert Zoer (Oki Doki) and to everyone's astonishment, Eric Lamaze and Hickstead.

Oh no! I had only seen the results for the first part. Ack! Oh well, still love 'em.

The victory (and the 300,000.00Euros) went to Michel Robert riding the Selle Français mare "Kellemoi de Pepita"
Second Jos Lansink and "Valentina", third is Alvaro Miranda and "AD Picolien Zeldenrust".
Only 4 qualified for the jump off.

Michel Robert also winner of the "Top Ten" is still very young at 60+ y/o:D
