So this past week, my zippers busted and I got to show vet-wrapped and electrical-taped into my tall boots.
On a whim, I decided to see what the secondhand guy that hangs out at the show I was at had. He has a pair of Vogels in my size for 400. However, they're a little too tall and a little too wide, so my question is: Should I get replacement ariats, or go with the Vogels? I don't have any experience with customizing boots, so any advice would be great!
Thanks in Advance!

Having boots shortened and taken in should not be a big deal, and Vogels are higher quality than Ariats. But you need to find a good boot/shoe repair place so you make sure they are right. Be sure and explain exactly what you want, especially with height, since many boot-repair places don't realize how high we want them for riding.

I would say take the Vogels. As said abouve they are higher quality and to get custom made ones costs 4x as much. So even with the take in fees your getting a good deal.
Again as said abouve make sure you tell them exactly what you want, how heigh, how wide in ALL places, just below the knee, the upper part of your calf, lower part and the width of your ankle.

Another thought: I'd also take your measurements and take a quick peek on Ebay to see if there are any Vogels on there that are already a perfect fit. There have been a lot on Ebay in the past year for that price or less...and you may just find ones that don't need any alteration.

Oh, and as always, I'm glad I am loved

I'd call vogel and ask what they would charge to fit these boots for you. I had my vogels taken in (calf and foot) about a year ago and cost about 150 bucks, they came back all nice and shiny too :D well worth it!
