Looking for long term lease possible forever home for adorable silver dapple chestnut mini-shetland cross with white/silver mane and tail that drags the ground. Adorable, I mean adorable! She's 76 inches tall but fairly big bodied wears a 58 pony blanket. She is as puppy dog gentle as you can get. My son has taken flying leaps off a fence and jumped on her with nothing and she stands there, she will stop when he is leading her and get distracted and randomly stops in front of her with no warning, and she has has happily tolerated his random running hugs at her hock, without so much as an ear twitch, lol. She ties, clips, is great for the farrier, lunges on voice commands, will trot over small cross poles. Goes in a regular snaffle, english or western, neck reins, so-so, but direct reins great. This is without a doubt the best behaved pony you'll ever seen, no pony attitude or antics at all, she acts and is treated like a big horse. Hauls great, good with other (large horses), no diet issues, no history of founder.
Her only challenges are that she is a slight roarer...so for her 30 minutes at a walk, trot is it, she is a great lead line pony and also ponies well from a regular size horse. Perfect first pony. Her only "vice" is standing in water tanks, if she can figure a way in it, she'll stand and paw and play in it all day. I am looking for another little girl or boy who wants the perfect first pony. She's lived a very good life with us and is used to being blanketed, brushed and ridden daily. My only other requirement is no breeding, she came to me in foal and not only does she not need to be bred, she has no motherly instict what-so-ever, and while she won't harm the foal, she is just not a good mother. Due to her roaring she needs to stay out of areas with high humidity or be with a family that understands her condition and is willing to not stress her under high heat index's and equip her pen/stall with a fan, other than that, I am open to locations. I must request routine updates and I would take her back at any time. My son is ready for a bigger pony and longer rides, and she is too young and wonderful to just sit in my yard. That said, she will always have a home with us and I would be happy to accept her back at anytime should the child outgrow her or the situation change, no questions asked. She's current on shots, worming, trimming. Comes with a winter blanket, fly sheet, fly mask, tail bag, bareback pad, western saddle pad and headstall with snaffle if desired (basically everything but the saddle). She is located in Colorado. Can email photos, if you send me a pm with your direct email address.
***Update July 15th, 2010, my apologies to those I didn't get back to, my son suffered a severe head injury resulting in a skull fracture soon after I posted this (NOT horse related) and life has been a bit upsidedown, he's home and doing better now. That said, I have just bought him a new horse who will be here next week, so Emmy the wonder pony is ready for a new home. Since I posted this original note, she's been to 3 local horse shows, in lead line, lead line over obstacles and a costume class, did wonderful, will stand by the ingate for hours, no whinnying (is that a word? lol), she's the same at the show as she is at home. Please pm me and I can forward photos upon request. That said the perfect forever home is a must, I am in no hurry to get rid of her, but she's too young, healthy and precious to stand around my pasture for the rest of her life. I'd love to see her to a new home and touch another child's life, as much as she has touched my sons.
