I've known him as a dressage producer but I have also noticed some hunters that are by him. Are his babies usually quiet with a good temperment? Does he pass on hunter movement? (yes, I know he is deceased so not to many babies left out there.)

Leonidas is retired from breeding, but last I heard he was enjoying his retirement in sunny California.

He's not dead, just resting.

The ones I have seen (a massive sample of two) don't/didn't strike me as hunters. One is a pure Trakehner and the other an Oldenburg. Both were/are dressage oriented, but I have to say the Oldenburg can jump pretty impressively, both have more front end than I believe hunter people desire. I wouldn't describe either of them as quiet, but both are pleasant to deal with.

All I know is that he happens to be named after the ultimate choclate in the entire world.

OT? Just a bit. Sorry :D

Interesting. Thanks for the info. The reason I thought he was deceased was because thats what it said next to his name on a website I found. I thought I was the ATA website, but it must not have been. Sorry for the mis-information.

LOL!!! I think that's just happenstance and more likely Leonidas, King of Sparta. :D

As to Leo babies, I had a filly who was very sweet and easy to have around. She would have made a fabulous upper level dressage horse, but the Condus line produces nice jumpers and my understanding is she was sold as a hunter by the person I sold her to who had trained her over fences.

I wonder if they kept frozen on him?

I love Ramzes and I believe Condus was one of his last approved sons. I have a daughter of Werigo (Ramzes grandson through Rigoletto) that I always wanted to breed to Leo...

Anybody know?

I beleive he still has EU frozen, but not certain there's anymore in the U.S. Hilda would be the one who could confirm that.

As far as I know, Condus was the last approved Ramzes AA son and Leo was the last Condus son. There are 2 approved Ramzes AA great-grandsons remaining in the TK breed: Prelude by Mozart (ex. Pandorie by Condus) and Tzigane *Pb* (out of Tekoa by Condus). Prelude is available fresh cooled; Tzigane has been leased to Germany so only available frozen. Both are committed to the ATA Stallion Service Auction for 2010.
