Sorry if this has been discussed already but...

Who do you think will be Zenyatta's first Baby Daddy? If she were YOURS, who would you send her to?

Will stallion owners vie to be the one??
thoughts?

If it were me, the choice would be between Dynaformer and AP Indy.

What about Tiznow? That would be one huge baby!

ooh Tiznow would be cool.

But would he a good match breeding wise?... Dynaformer is too closely bred to zenyatta, I think.

Would'nt say no to Dynaformer either.

So...does anyone know if the Stallion owners court a mare like Zenyatta, or just hope for a phone call?

My serious guess would be Dynaformer. Can't imagine what that beast of a foal would look like.

Or how about a younger stallion?

Well since they will never meet on the track, let them cross paths in the shed. Breed Zen to MDO and Rachel to Street Cry!

Wouldn't Dynaformer produce a 2x3 inbreeding to Roberto? That's a bit too close up for my tastes.

I do like the GC (3x3 Roberto) and the MdOro is an interesting outcross.

I'm going to be contrary and suggest Unusual Heat. She's an outcross for Northern Dancer. It would concentrate Forli. Might be interesting.

Was kind of thinking that Distorted Humor might be good. Z is an outcross for just about every big time sire line these days, except Mr. P.

If they breed her to Unbridled's Song, I personally will go to Lexington and throw my body across the sill of his stall to prevent the breeding. :)

Although given his age, they'll probably try A.P. Indy for her first. Might be the only chance they get for that mating.

I like MDO for her.

Why haven't they bred her dam back to Street Cry? You would think of all the breedings to repeat, that would be one!

I think Birdstone would need a stepladder. ;)

Question is, does Zenyatta want to be bred? She's a star and she knows it; I'll bet she'll be very, very picky.

So do they have her under lights already or will that come in the first of the year.? I can only imagine that foal. wow talk about Big & a Looker .

Much as I think Dynaformer would be a good cross, size is an issue. I remember one of the commentators for the BC mentioned that Zenyatta is 17-1/2 hands tall and that it takes careful management to keep big horses sound. May be why she raced so little in a year.

I'm also looking to keep an additional Mr. Prospector out of the first five generations. Zenyatta already has a cross and due to the size factor and the reputation of the Mr. P's for soundness issues, I just can't go there.

A.P. Indy

Purim- Gets the Dynaformer without adding in more Mr. P, but I couldn't find information on how tall or big Purim is.

(I kind of like trying to have a Matchem line stallion, Tom Fool, or Hail to Reason line stallion, providing the temperments are good)

As an aside, was Hail to Reason a particularly difficult horse, or just some of his get?

Boy, I am the wrong one to join in (But I just love the mare), i thought i read on another thread that they have already picked the stallion she is going to be bred to.

Yes her trainer said that on HRTV before the Breeders Cup. She was already bred to AP Indy twice this year and didn't catch. MDO in March. Under lights in Dec. Should be a great foal. I hope she catches.

Why do you keep saying that? She was never ever bred to anyone.

Here is my question: This person keeps repeating this every few days for weeks now. Is there any truth to any of it?

"QuoteYes her trainer said that on HRTV before the Breeders Cup. She was already bred to AP Indy twice this year and didn't catch. MDO in March. Under lights in Dec. Should be a great foal. I hope she catches.Quote"

You just described Unbridled Belle again. Why do you confuse her with Zenyatta?

UB did not catch to AP, continued to race, and now will retire after one more race and be bred to MDO next year on her managing partner's MDO breeding right.

None of which has anything to do with Z. At all. Who has never been bred and is staying at HWP until January.

As you can see, now they think I am the one who is spouting misinformation. I guess I need to learn how to quote better.

Darn it, they need to send her to A.P. Indy. It's not that MDO won't be just fine, but the grand old man is a grand old man, and who knows if he'll be around in another year or two.

What would be the downside of a breeding to A.P. Indy other than the cost which one assumes would be negotiable for Z?

First foal, Sea The Stars as no foal involved. Although as big as the baby will be, it might end up being a National winner in 11 years time!

?

Purim is a pretty good size guy himself. (in both bone and height) He is prettier to look at than Dynaformer and much easier to be around. Let us go in his stall for scratches. He still has the sprung rib look of Dynaformer but isn't as rangy looking.

I seriously doubt that cost would be an issue for the Mr. & Mrs. Moss.

Did the hypothetical of this on Equineline (after seeing a cross to Sea the Stars creates Raise a Native inbreeding in a potential foal.)

I like this idea a lot. Cape Cross over Zenyatta creates a nice clean pedigree with LOTS of good names and no inbreeding, and we know he sires some nice stuff.
