My place is small and heavily grazed, so I''m fairly aggressive with my worming program. I used to do just a 2 way rotational worming schedule, rotating imvermectin/prazanquitel (sp?) and pyrantel pamoate every 2 months.
When new horse arrived in March, I added Fenbendazole/Oxibendazole to the rotation schedule, as his worming history was vague and my other guy had just had his dose of Ivermecting/Prazanquitel the month before. That put me on a 3 way rotation, still every 2 months.
What I'm wondering now is, with the 3 way, how important is it to get the season and order correct for each class of wormer? I think my rotation is off, as I just did the Oxibendazole in October, and the next in line should be Pyrantel Pamoate, but all the sample schedules I see go in the order of Pyrantel, then Bendazoles, then Ivermectins.
Would it be better to do the Iver/Praz now and then hit them again with the Pyrantel a month later to get the order right, or does it really not matter?
Last FEC was done right after the Oxi, as Rico went a little off on his feed. Don't have the results here with me at the office. The report gave numbers which I interpreted as indicating a low/moderate load for both horses, but no specifics on type?
