I recently purchased a branded and imported Westfalen gelding. He was imported by the previous owner. When I asked for his Westfalen papers she just sent me his USEF recording card, it's more like an 8.5 x 11 paper with his USEF info. I know his direct lineage. He's by Poker(by Pilot) out of Ronda. I know he is from Germany and competatively did jumpers. I looked around on the Westfalen website with minimal luck. Does anyone know of a way to locate these? Or any helpful info? Thank you!

Depending on his DOB he should have an equine passport and a certificate of ownership or a single registration paper which function as both certificate of pedigree and proof of ownership. Now if you have neitheer document you will need any one of the following information in order to be able to apply for a duplicate of his registration paper in Münster Germany at the Verband's office.
-Life-ID (12 to 14 digit generally starts out with DE for 'Deutschland' (=Germany), if less digits it should start out with a 41 which is the Westfalian code)
-Breeder name and address
-Sire and damsire plus DOB
-Last recorded owner in Germany (such would enable you possible to track him with the FN in Warendorf and thereby find out his Life-ID which is what you ultimately want to have :)
The Verband's phone# is 01149 (for Germany) 251-3280910 and you want to talk to Mrs. Strunz-Happe who is in charge of foreign affairs, you could also try emailing her at strunz-happe@westfalenpferde.de Phone is your better bet. They close during lunch and open and are best to reach between 8.00 and 10.00 a.m. German time. Office hours close at 4.00 p.m. no service on wednesday afternoons last time I called and they may close early on Fridays (this is Germany here *lol*)
The FN's phone# is 01149-2581-6362156 (this is the 'Abteilung Sport' if there is some automated lady talking to you you want to get to 'Pferdeeintragung'). No email. The FN too will drop the hammer during lunch, have no service on Wednesday afternoons and closes the shop early on Friday.
If you encounter problems and are desperate enough to pay someone to help with the legwork pls email me I can assist you but it is very timeconsuming so I can't do it for free :) Hope this helps. Be prepared to do a lot of phoning especially if you do not have all the information needed to ID your horse.
Good luck :)
