Where on KWPN papers does it say the mare line? From that where do you find other horses from this mare family? I'm trying to find out more on my Cavalier X Swap X Nova Zembla mare.

A good place to look is on www.paardenfokken.nl If your horse is not listed on there, you can put it in and then research the mare line.

I just looked up my filly's dam on that site (name Pourquoi)...it says

Remarks: "2007: KWPN fokwaarde springen 142 57% (1032e pl)

Remarks (long) EX 68 BEW 64 SPR 72

What the heck does this mean?

I don't speak Dutch or German, but I'm pretty sure it means that Pourquoi was performance tested in 2007 in jumping and her index is 142 with a 57% reliability. Not sure what the others mean.

Ext-Exterior (Conformation) 68 BEW I think her movement 64 and SPR-jumping 72. The scores she had at her inspection.

I can never remember what BEW really is short for in Dutch.

Thank you so much Kathy! How can I find out what these scores mean? 142 seems like a good jumping index but the 3 numbers seperately seem low...and 57% rideability seems low to me. I'm not surprised...she is by Zeus who has tons of arab blood...so she is most likely high strung (as my filly is as well). I would never have known about this tool if it weren't for you so thank you again very much...It's cool to put the pieces of my horse's family tree together like this. I didn't realize Pourquoi was imported after 2007.

57 % RELIABILITY not ridability. It is how reliable the index is based on the data there is. Like when stallions are first approved it is based on their bloodlines. And if there is missing data or no data on certain lines it can be less reliable. But as the stallion do better and the offspring, the reliability goes up considerably. Indexes also change from year to year too based on the offspring in sport. All just a guide there, but I would say a pretty good jumping bred mare.

Well apparently she's Mareline 168 and family 5....... which produced Heartbreaker! A little linebreeding is in order I feel.

Very nice! What are you thinking about breeding her to?

She's in foal to Bellerophon at present, but for next year I was thinking to go for Cornet Oblensky.
