I notice, looking through results online on the useventing website, that a few people have 'AM points' after their results. I clicked on the link that explains these ... and the article is no longer available. Can anyone (janet?) explain what these are ?

p.s. I don't think I saw you there this year ... or .... if I did, I still haven't worked out who you are in real life :(

AM points are where all of the pros are removed from the division and points are given based on placings sans pros. This is so that Ammys have a better chance of qualifying for the AECs. You also get the point boost on the Leaderboard in the Amatuer standings. The original placings don't change, but say you finished 4th and the top three riders above you were pros; after the USEA recalculated, you would finish 1st and be qualified for AECs and get 1st place AM points.

It also seems with the AM points that they only re-calculate your standing if you finished in the top 8 over-all in the division (before they take out the pros) - at least that's what it seems from looking at my scores.

for example, and event where I finished 5th overall, I ended up getting AM points for 2nd....but an event where I finished 10th, with most of the riders ahead of me being pros, no AM points...

ah - yes, I think I was getting confused because I don't have any.... but then on my only two decent finishes, the pony wasn't registered, so that's probably why !
