spin off~ modern leggy w/ substance

Is there such a thing as modern leggy but with large 9-10 inch cannon bones? Who comes to mind when you think modern but with substance? Where would I find info on the WB cannon size?

You could ask the stallion owner to measure it or it may be recorded with the registry. Cannon bone size is actually irrelevant -- the size should only support the mass -- it's the bone integrity that makes the difference (i.e. how solid and dense it is).
Oskar II comes to mind -- very leggy and modern yet substantial.

I would look into Rousseau. My three year old filly is hugely substantial but also very leggy.

You would need to check with his owner re: cannon bone measurement, but I immediately thought of Gatsby when I saw the subject of your post. His owner, Lori Wilton, posts here occasionally under 'Foxdale Farm'. He is registered Oldenburg, but is half Thoroughbred. He is definitely leggy and is of a quite substantial frame compared to most other Oldenburgs with half Thoroughbred blood -- my own show horse included! We have three young horses by Gatsby now, all out of Thoroughbred mares. We selected Gatsby to bulk up our Thoroughbreds, while I know that many Warmblood mare owners use him to refine their mares. Lori is excellent to work with and should be able to answer your questions!

Ditto. Anytime someone has "leggy" on their list of wants, Oskar comes to mind.

Ironrule is very much a modern type, and he is leggy with a 9" cannon bone. He is approved BWP and RPSI.
