Today it was 70 degrees and SUNNY and gorgeous, we rode early both girls had great rides and ponies got bathed, with bubbles!!! They then got to air dry while munching on the green grass in the back yard ( a very special treat since they are not usually allowed in the yard) the girls sat on them bareback while they dried.
I figure this is it for a few months I am sure we will not see 70 degrees again until spring, I will miss the nice weather, and the long days at the barn, we will ride daily but when its cold we tend to "get in and get out" we don't get to linger.
I hope everyone had the same GREAT weather we did today and that you all got to enjoy in whatever way makes you the most happy!!!

Moved 2 of my clients horses from a farm where they were not being fed correctly, to a new farm where they are going to be rough boarding. (I would NOT get out of the truck until they got there...the farm owner is ummm an......@ss? )
Then went for a trail ride with 2 of my boarders/students. My pony and the QH havent been out in about 3 or 4 years? and the morgan goes each week. Surprisingly enough they were all great. QH spooked at the end, and off came my student, and my pony attempted to do the same..But she wasn't allowed. instead we went after mr. QH. who listened to the "WHOA" that he was getting. lol. (Dont worry my student was fine. It was one of those loverly slow motion over the shoulder falls).
Then back to the barn, put the horses away, tack and clean out trailers. Sat around for a couple hours, and then back to horse cleaning/feeding/etc. for the night. :)
and now im done until tomorrow. :)

Well, yesterday was our most gorgeous day... and both yesterday and today I was stuck inside working 9a-3p. I was going to go out to see the boys today... but it's a crappy day today. Overcast and gloomy. Tomorrow's supposed to be nicer again. So, I'm hoping to do a nice ride tomorrow.

Graded 50 8th grade expository essays, took my dogs for an hour walk, played 9 holes of golf with my husband, went to late afternoon/early dinner with said husband, wrote lesson plans for the week, and now I'm going to go chill with a book in the bathtub.

I rode Chief for the first time in 3 weeks.
He was very good, but I was exhausted. I STILL haven't properly recovered from my sinusitis.

I rode both my rideable mares and schooled one of the soon-to-be-under-saddleables. Beautiful day!
Also made a crock pot of chili. Two hours to go and it smells tantalizing.

Started the day doing a modified hunter clip on my TB, Petey. First time I have ever clipped so that was an adventure. Then bathed him and turned him out with a fly sheet on and he promptly rolled.
Then had a shower, lunch then went shopping for a few hours. My SO & I leave in a week for a cruise so I had to pick up a few more things for the cruise.
Now I need to go clean stalls and feed the boys. Wish I could have ridden since it was so beautiful today but there just wasn't enough time in the day.

This morning -worked on cutting and grinding some ordered stained glass pieces from a Hoofbeats fundraiser I did last night. After lunch, went out and let Willie graze for a bit while I hosed his incision and was actually able to swab at it with a lamb's wool painter's mitt - (the kind you use to paint gates -my husband works part time at Sherwin Williams :D ). It worked great- you don't have great control, but if you are just trying to get a general area - worked well!!! Holds plenty of water, and is very soft and evidently non-irritating - no kicks today. Got off a bunch of dried blood and debris - and wonder of wonder!!! The incision actually looks like it is pretty much healed- with no new blood or anything!!!! YIPEEE! (Maybe three was the charm, and now all we have to worry about are his feet. ) What a relief. I'll know more Thursday after vet/farrier visit with more radiographs.
Then I gathered my small furry mammals (Gumby=Corgi, and two kitties) on the deck and they had a nice nap while I sipped a glass of white wine while continuing to work on some of the stained glass. Very productive yet relaxing day. But I sure do miss riding...........

Not a "lovely" day in Tampa today. Very, very blustery, can hardly open your eyes or your mouth without getting flying grit plastering you. I know I am going to be picking sand out of my shirt collar and bra.
I canceled most of my lessons except for a few of the adanced riders and spent the most part of the day working on my carpets inside....vacuuming and shampooing. I think I vacuumed enough hair out of the rug to knit myself a new cat. Of course I ran out to the barn for a few minutes and came back to find that my doggie raided the cat litter box and chewed up the "kittie crunchies" all over my still damp carpet.....

The last several days here have been gorgeous, and I've made good use of them by some wonderful hours in the saddle. On Friday I rode a few hours with a friend, Saturday my horse and I did another 4.5 hours on our own, and today I rode with a couple of friends/fellow boarders and their grown daughter for about three hours.
It just doesn't get any better than this!

Got up and fed this AM then went to another barn and taught lessons, came back home and rode one of mine, had a HUGE crowd of people come out and ride, bathe horses etc as well as just sit and have a cold beer and talk (yes a cold beer is allowed at my barn!). Just a nice afternoon, then had someone come look at a horse and they bought him pending vet check, so a happy day!

Gorgeous fall day here. Did the barn and ground drove my new pony. I am learning to drive and he is coming back from a two year hiatus due to founder (former owner). Enjoyed life as an unemployed person. Counting the days until my husband comes home!!

I saddled up at 7:30 and rode until 9:30 then I cleaned up went to church and taught Sunday School. Then I came home and watched a horrific Bears game. Visited with boarders from time to time during the game. Then I went out and washed two horses. I came in here once or twice & posted a bit. Then I wrote an article for the newspaper due last Friday (embarrassed about that). Now I am blogging and making dinner - it's Sunday the kids have chores tonight!
Glorious fall day GLORIOUS!!!!

Went to barn this morning to find a horse had passed away, and they were in the process of burrying him. Not pleasant. Then too cold and wet to ride, so went home and helped hubby get everything together for his roadtrip up north to find a job. Not the happiest day ever.

I had a great late afternoon ride with my daughter. We saw a huge buck along the way who was in no hurry to run from us (gotta love rutting season), and chatted with a couple of our neighbors along the way (got warned about 3 bears living in our woods.)
Hand grazed the horses for a little while and called it a day. All in all, a beautiful day here in the Shenandoah Valley.

Absolutely beautiful indian summer days here, was 70F today here also.
I have been on a new heart medication three days now and getting dizzy spells, which was expected and supposed to get over it soon.
Was so nauseous from it, was throwing up at noon, but finally I am back to sitting in front of the computer on my ball for a chair, not in a chair, which was impossible until now, I kept falling off the ball I generally use.
I did get to clean house some, do laundry, barn chores and pet horses, does that count?;)

I had a very productive day! I got up and did the morning barn chores, then went to watch a friends lesson, came home and cleaned all of the paddocks, dragged and leveled the arena, organized the tack room & installed a swing arm blanket rack, hung some pvc pipe in the stall in preparation for the heated water bucket this winter, vacuumed the horses, tried Malachi's new sheet on him, fed them dinner and tucked them in. I'm whooped, but feeling oh so satisfied! Didn't touch the inside of the house all day, so I guess I better get started on dishes & such.

Early morning big Sunday breakfast with hubby and houseguest.
Moving furniture and cleaning house.
Quiet prayer time.
Trailered over to a friend's farm, and a total of four of us schooled together. It was fabulous!
Laundry.
A little more cleaning.
Early to bed.
Thankful to God for such a glorious day :)

Let me see, got bucked off by my horse. :( I am hurting now. It was a beautiful day here in CT and I rode my horse outside and he was feeling good and he decided to throw some bucks. I was able to stay on for the first two and the third buck is when I came off. I landed on the left side of my lower back. Right now I am icing it and it hurts to walk. Guess I will be taking Motrin for the next couple of days.
I guess the Doxyclycline is doing its job and oh yeah I have to buy a new saddle as the one I have is now pinching him.
Hope everyone had a great day. :)

It was absolutely gorgeous here in VA today, and not bad the last few days. I had Fri. off and managed to ride two on Fri., two on Sat. and one today, which was more than I've been able to ride in a while. Cantered my old guy for the first time post-injury yesterday and it was fabulous!:) I'm so happy he's made such a good recovery and he has a canter to die for that I'd missed.
Today I also managed to clean up one of my paddocks, drag and level the arena, scrub and bleach a trough and clean up the tack room a bit. Hubby spread my big pile o' poop today too which was nice.
Looks like nice weather in the forecast all week... I may have to get "the flu" one day, I still have a couple of sick days left this year!

I went on a trail ride fundraiser for St, Jude's Children's Hospital. It was a blast-the farm where we rode had beautiful trails, my horse and all the barn kiddos who went loved it, and our county 4-H goups raised over $1500 for a great cause!

Raked the leaves that had become unraked yesterday.
Took the dog for a good long spin & gave him a bath. Last one he'll get before spring, I'm sure!
Drove to the barn anticipating taking a slow, short hack on the occasionally sound fuzzy mare; found it unbelievably buggy out and decided against the fields. Took her for a workout in the ring and found her off :(
Trotted her for her owner in the unbelievably buggy field.
Helped owner finish up chores.
Came home and blew three tiny bugs out of my nose.
Had some wine.

Well, yesterday's group ride in the desert got cancelled, everyone wanted to go to cowboy poetry & extreme mustang makeover in Heber City...so I rode my 4 yo mare solo, 3+ hours into a nearby canyon to check out a couple of newly cut trails. Spectacular day, great ride, little mare dealt with many bicycles and many new things with aplomb! Today equally gorgeous so the gelding got a turn, then went to the movies w/family this afternoon. Weather forecast is good here for at least the next few days, so I'll ride as much as I can!

Had an awesome dressage clinic at our barn - that I somehow ended up organizing  They haven't had a clinic since before I moved there a little over 2 years ago, and I was concerned about it running smoothly, but it went GREAT and everyone had a really good time. We can't wait to do another one!
It was an absolutely perfect day for it - almost 70 degrees and sunny. Couldn't have asked for better!

I rode two, and got my hunt horse clipped. The dogs went with me on the trail ride, and one of the Jacks found something slimy and stinky to roll in. He smeared himself from ears to tail, and you have never seen such a happy dog in your life!

Went trail riding with my Mom and my friend :D It was so much fun! The boys had a blast and so did we!
Then I took a nap  And then went to my sorority's chapter meeting where some of the girls decided to dress up in silly outfits.
Great day overall

It was a truly glorious fall day here, weather wise.
I spent it throwing up after waking up this morning with a 12-hour stomach bug. Staggered out to feed/water/apologize to equines, who were happily in the fresh round bale delivered into the pasture yesterday and really didn't look terribly sympathetic or disappointed. "Oh, okay. Catch you some other day. Whatever. Munch, munch."
Now that it's dark and outdoor possibilities gone, I'm starting to feel better. :sigh:

Gorgeous, gorgeous day in northern MA today. I wanted to trail ride, but folks were not available because of the Pats game. I rode a bit in the big field behind the barn, and then in the grassy area closer to the barn. Maresy was feeling good; she's just become so much more relaxed since I moved her. I worked her hard enough that she got a bit sweaty through her not-very-long winter coat. Walked her out, let her graze for a bit while I brushed her, didn't care how long it took because it was so nice. She went back into her stall with no blanket but the barn girls said they'd blanket everyone before they left, because it's supposed to be cold tonight.
Then returned a saddle to Dover, sigh... and scored a pair of nearly-new MDC Ultimate stirrups for half price out of their "Basement". :)
Tomorrow is supposed to be even nicer, wow. Three weeks ago, it was SNOWING!

The last few days have been beautiful here in Va. On Friday, I met up with some of the other ladies that board at the barn for our Friday trail ride. Saturday, I went out and rode in the ring for a bit and then rode around the farm to relax. Today(Sunday) I got out to the barn just as the weekend barn worker got there and we decided to head out for a trail ride. I showed her where she could ride across the street on a neighboring farm(we have permission to ride there). We rode for about 40 min, and just enjoyed the absolutely beautiful day.

It was so beautiful here today! I spent the morning at the barn and jumped my horse 3'9 for the first time in probably two years (we have been jumping 3' tops because I jump myself and never really have anyone on the ground to set for me). It was the best, most fulfilling and confidence boosting ride I have had in such a long time. I have it on dvd thanks to a great friend who shot it and set fences for me! What made the ride EVEN better is I felt my horse having fun!

I figured it would probably be the last warm day of the year (high fifties, low sixties) so I took my 25 year old on a a nice relaxed trail ride so we could chill out from our dressage clinic the day before. We hadn't been out on the trail for at least a month, so there was some excited TB jigging, but it was otherwise uneventful. My trainer was riding my four-year old in the same clinic so I got him ready, watched the clinic and then cooled him down with a walk outside in the sun. He got a little bug-eyed over a donkey in the paddock, so I took him over so he could look at it and smell it. A lovely day all in all.

Robert rode DaVinci -and practiced some dressage, as they usually do. I video taped, which I very occasionally do. -Yesterday, I put together a little video -usually he wants me to throw the footage in the trash (grin).
Here is DaVinci and Robert enjoying the weather.
