Are there any pony breeders (German Riding Ponies) located in California, preferably southern California??
Thank you!

Though I do not know the breeder personally, here is one that I am aware of because at one time I was considering breeding my Arab mare to a GRP.

Here are two imported GRP stallions standing in California.
Chardonnay - located at the LA Equestrian Center and competes at FEI with Jaye Cherry

Lateran - located in El Cajon, CA, showed through at least 3rd Level (maybe higher?)

Both are approved for Weser-Ems breeding (the Oldenburg sport pony registry).

Tammy Burgin www.farmorefarms.com has lovely WELSH ponies, but may be a source of great information as she is right there in California.

We stand the purebred Connemara Pony Stallion Wildwych Eclipse (approved: Weser Ems, ISR Sport Pony and ACPS). He has competed successfully through 2nd Level Dressage and Training Level Eventing (he is six years old). All of our current mares are MMB Weser Ems and are Premium Eligible. Both mares successfully contested the West Coast Old Mare Performance Test in 2009. We are in Northern CA.

Lateran is not in the GOV stallion directory. Looks like he is a mount for a para rider in Colorado ... or was.
The web site for Chardonnay has not been updated in some time. He does very well in competition at LAEC. Would love to know if he has produced foals. I emailed Jaye Cherry to ask.

Did you happen to notice that this thread is two years old? ;)
Lateran was in the Weser-Ems stallion directory in 2009 and 2010. He was not activated for 2011, so is not in the current directory.

I was interested in what Lateran is doing. I know his owner. And noticed he is not activated for 2011.

Lateran was sold and I do not think Polly is breeding any GRP's currently. Chardonnay does have a few foals...I own one of them (Cypress, 2 y/o stallion prospect who is for sale). Jeanne Schamblin does have some lovely ponies, including several by Lateran. There are very few GRP breeders in the US...let alone California. Let us know if you find any others;)
