Need Shipper recommendations for cross country....for a 2 year old.

I need to move my filly from VA to CA. I need a good hauler with baby experience. She has been in the trailer before with no problems... but I want her to have a good experience.

Call Craig Sappington. He shipped my filly from VA to Chicago as a yearling and then back to VA as a 3 y.o. and he was great. He's based out of Chicago and goes east and west, but I'm not sure if he does the VA to CA trip often. It's worth calling as asking though. I shipped a baby using Allstate Horse Express, and they were extremely conscientious. I actually was speaking to a friend that happened to see them during the trip. They had no idea it was my baby on the trailer, just told me a story about a hauler they noticed, and how good they were with the horses - especially the baby. I also admired them for how they handled a breakdown. The baby arrived in great shape.

Sometimes though I think it can be more to do with individual drivers/team than a company, so you may find wonderful, and not so wonderful.

TJ Hooper and the crew brought my 5 month old from Washington state to Pennsylvania. Literally across the whole country. They came to me highly recommended from my fillies breeder, and after seeing how awesome and relaxed my little one looked when she stepped off, I will continue to recommend them to others. They really take great care, and go out of their way for every horse they ship.

They maybe hard o get on the phone since they are on the road a lot. But I promise they were worth it for me!

I second the recommendation for Cox. They transported a weanling (now two year old!) for me from CA to TN and did a fabulous job. They were also extremely reasonable in their quote - half of what some other companies quoted me for the same trip!

Wonderful guy, I talked to him in the weeks leading up to the transport, every day during her ride from VA to OK (he stops and does overnights so the horses can stretch their legs) and then a couple of times the night he arrived to let me know exactly how she was doing. He puts the comfort and the health of the horses first which I really appreciated. She arrived here happy, healthy and unstressed which is the sign of a great shipper.
