View Full Version : Now's a good time

Now's a good time to start those garden beds people were talking about here earlier in the year. Take those old dead plants and start them decomposing for soil amendments; instead of raking leaves, 'mow' them with the lawn mower and put them in a mulch pile, compost pile, or in a raised bed for a garden. There are very good (and CHEAP!!! The article estimates that a 4' x 8' bed, with 'dirt' or whatever to fill it and fancy wood trim costs about$50) plans for raised beds in April's Better Homes and Gardens magazine; you can go to the library and Xerox the article or see if it's on the magazine's website). You can also grab seeds from harvested whatever and save them, so you won't have to buy any. LOTS to do for coming gardens...
