I know not every barn/facility is listed on the web so I was hoping the power of COTH would work for me. I know there are a ton of VA cothers. Anyone else willing to share??

I may be looking for a barn. Can you answer some questions for me??

Where do you board?
How much for full care stall board, how much for pasture?
What amenities do you have? Indoor??
Do you have an on-site trainer? Are you free to trailer out for lessons?
What do you LOOOOOVE about your facility if you are happy there?

And most important, how close is your barn to Fredericksburg??

Feel free to PM me if you don't feel comfortable posting publicly!
Thanks!

I think you are expecting people to work too hard in responding to you. Perhaps you would have more replies if you stated what you are seeking and asked for recommendations based on that criteria, e.g., seeking barn within 15 minutes of Fredricksburg with indoor arena and on-site trainer, or whatever.

My barn is to far from Fredericksburg.

Well, maybe if you were more specific? Like "looking for H/J facility within 90 minutes of DC or Somewheresville" or whatever?

Most who are on here at the moment are not in Va. Relax. Breathe.

You might also ask about Eventing barns on their forum if you don't want a regular H/J show barn. if the care is good anfd they have the facilities, it can work.

Can you go to a regional USEF affiliate web site or local club website? Can get ideas there.

Hmm..good point. Thank you.

I am really looking for a barn with a nice ring/jumps, some trails (doesn't have to be extensive by ANY means) and maybe an indoor but that's not a deal breaker. I would prefer lights if the barn only has an outdoor. Sometimes it is hard for me to get out to the barn during daylight hours.

Discipline wise, I am currently doing the hunter thing. Lots of locals and a few "A" shows here and there. Not sure that's what I want to do for the rest of my life. I would love a barn where I am not committed to the resident 'trainer' but feel free to trailer out to my own hunter trainer, or go take a lesson with an eventer, or just trail ride around with barn buddies. Either that or the resident trainer needs to be awesome and give you what you pay for. I am paying out the nose for lessons right now and they are getting shorter and shorter every time, and often wind up being group-type lessons when I am paying for private lessons. Kids and ponies in the barn are a plus, as I have one of those too.

I don't know if I need stall board or pasture board, or maybe both. My horse and DD's horse are different personalities.

I thought I found somewhere fairly nice and reasonably priced, but a lot of cothers trashed the owners/care in another thread so I am still looking. That's why I was kind of general in my original post...I'm not 100% sure what I need :)

I am looking for good care, but it doesn't have to be a hunter facility. Really. I can trailer out to a hunter trainer when I want that type of lesson. I will cross-post, thanks for the advice!

45 minutes or less would be best drive-wise. I'm around 35 minutes now which is fine.

Tell you what, wait until tomorrow morning for the highest traffic...and they were going to be working on the server and changing the software on here and there was a sticky that said it would be down Nov 4 thru Nov 6 last few days-I dunno what happened there but I didn't even look at the board until this afternoon. Maybe it went quick or maybe they put it off...whatever, not everybody has looked today or will tomorrow.
Highest traffic is probably Monday until around noon. So be patient, bump it up every morning of you have to.

I'd, if I were you, I'd edit that title again to show what you are looking for. Right now it could be anything from a(nother) complaint about shammies in the ammies, some kind of trash talk about somebdy, a where to send a sale Pony or a where to take lessons to an "I need to lease a barn" thread. Narrow it down and wait.

 You must have been looking at DR's place.

I can't help you with a barn in the Fredericksburg area. Like 2smommmy, I live too far away to recommend a facility down there.

How about Ann Garnett At Rose Mount Farm in Fredericksburg? I don't know the trainer, but that is a great facility with an indoor and outdoor rings. They also have those great shows. I think the website is www.rosemountfarm.com.
