I hear about people saying horses can be leased for shows, one year periods or shorter periods but have no idea where to go to look for horses available to lease or to list horses we may have that we want to lease. I know talking to trainers is helpful but seems there should be a place to go online to post those ads or to look through ads to reach people from other areas.

Any advice?

The Chronicle has a lease section as well. However, if you want him to stay near you, you might be better served dropping flyers off at barns and tack shops, and advertising in something local. As far as finding a short term lease, or a lease for a show, that will most definitely be word of mouth only, and probably only for those who the trainer of the horse has seen ride or clients of the trainers friends.

Dreamhorse has a "Horse Wanted" section. You'd be surprised at the response you will get. I found the horse I am currently leasing by placing an ad there for a horse wanted, and it only took a couple days.

We have a 'Lease A Horse' category, where one can feature a horse for lease by breed or horse for lease by location. There upon, you will find a descriptive area of which you can expound on your interests.
